    Just a small update - this occurs for basic Dolby Digital also, even when using an optical connection from the TV to the home theater. In that case the only solution that does work is uncompressed 5.1 or 7.1 - which the receiver then processes just fine. However I just wanted to post this to say it isn't just the Atmos users out there that have significant audio delay from the XSX when using any Dolby signal.

    • @Innov8vMike
      @Innov8vMike 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      One more update on this though. Uncompressed 5.1 or 7.1 doesn’t successfully let the XSX figure out how to send subwoofer only signal. When running the test - it simply plays nothing when it tests the subwoofer. In actual use this isn’t an issue and everything plays normally.
      When using Dolby Digital it is able to properly send a signal to each individual speaker and the subwoofer just fine - alas with a very, VERY, noticeable delay.

    Dude, thanks so much for this video! I know it's almost a year old now (typing this on 4/17/2022), but I just hooked up my Xbox Series X yesterday and encountered the exact issue you describe here. I was not looking forward to troubleshooting it. I'm in the exact demographic you describe here: Dolby, TV to receiver, ARC, VRR. • @MeChrisDaniels
    @MeChrisDaniels 2 ปีที่แล้ว +13

    The issue is probably that Xbox is outputting Dolby MAT lossless. Any connection to a soundbar using ARC will need to transcode it to the lossy version (Dolby Digital+ Atmos as ARC doesn’t have the bandwidth for lossless) which incurs a delay.
    If you use an Earc setup, you should be ok as the bandwidth is there and no transcoding is needed.
    IMO Xbox need to add options to select lossy/lossless formats (a tick box to select Earc On/Off) to avoid the delay and also the confusion it causes.

    • @MeChrisDaniels
      @MeChrisDaniels 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just to add to this, if you have earc and still have a delay, it may be that your soundbar doesn’t support Dolby mat natively, and still needs to transcode it. Ask your soundbar manufacturer if if they support it.

      And a new setting I found a few months back: TV Sound Mode Share: On. This new setting got rid of the last few milliseconds of lag for me. Good games to test it on is on any of the Dark Pictures Anthology games. The lipsync is a dead give away if it’s lagging.

      Let me guess your TV is an LG OLED. LG OLEDs accept Dolby MAT (when set to Auto) and transcode it to DD+. That is where the delay is coming from that people are 'complaining' about. It has nothing to do with MS and everything to with the terrible rollout of eARC and Dolby MAT support.

My hope is after this holiday season lots of people will be hooking up their new TVs and AV Equipment. Once a lot more people start complaining about this they might be forced to actually acknowledge it

    I got the audio problem issue fixed I left Netflix then watched TH-cam. On the Xbox series X then I went to. Show my family member that I fixed the audio problem issue with Xbox. And Netflix had no sound again and every other app has sound. Only Netflix has no sound the audio. Problem issue is still existing with the Netflix app on the Xbox series X. I have had to watch. Netflix on Google tv because of the audio problem. Issue with the Xbox series X.

    i have xbox wireless headphones connected to Xbox series X. i have sound delay in Dolby Atmos and also in stereo ( a little less but still noticeable.) when i connect other headphones into controller i have no delay even in dolby atmos enabled. Tested with Beats studio. Does xbox wireless headset has this issue or it just my pair has issue? Maybe if i get wireless dongle for them it will fix the delay?

    Same issue here! Lagging ass hell but also stuttering sound every few seconds! First when i connected true my AVR I had no problems at all with my older tv because of lack of e/ARC with atmos. Now i have a new tv 120hz, vrr you name it. I connected all to the new tv itself with e/ARC sound is stuttering and lagging. My atmos wireless headset don’t have any problems with sound. So it looks like I have to play with my headset if i wanna have 120hz, vrr.
    Turning off gamemode on tv doesn’t work. Switching back to 60hz doesn’t work!…… MS fix this!

    Let me guess you have an LG CX or C1 on Auto mode (instead of pass through). THAT's where the audio delay comes from...

    I have used Dolby, DTS and windows Sonic and have had no such issues from 2017 that is the Xbox one x I'm now on the XSX the new in built XSX spacial sound is not in use in any games yet and the reason you have so many choices is for compatability as different game devs partner with different sound companies. I would check your setting or call MS before creating A video next time.

      So you have your console connected directly into the soundbar, and your soundbar is connected to TV via E-arc. Im looking to getting samung q950a sound bar setup and the reasons im reading is people arent connecting console directly to soundbar but to the tv, and they dont have E-arc but just arc???

      @@NeoGeoNow I had to change the ports on the tv. The Xbox is in port 1 with the atmos sound bar in the earc port (3). When switching to input 1 to play Xbox the tv automatically reroutes the audio through the earc.

    I have a ps5 and series x along with a 65 inch LG GX OLED and a Polk Atmos soundbar and I haven't experienced any sound lag on my series x at all and to be honest my series x sounds just as good as the ps5 if not better so I have absolutely no idea about the sound delay because I haven't had any problems at all but once again this video is going to be taken completely another way about how the ps5 is better than the series x which is a matter of opinion. I enjoy both consoles and don't regret buying either

    Denon AVC-A110 / Marantz AV7706
    Denon AVC-X6700H / Marantz SR8015
    Denon AVC-X4700H / Marantz SR7015
    Denon AVC-X3700H / Marantz SR6015
    Denon AVR-X2700H / Marantz SR5015
    Denon AVR-X2700HDAB / Marantz SR5015DAB
    Denon AVR-S960H / Marantz NR1711
