Just finished it. The best mod for TG you can ever imagine. Of course, it has its downsides, but most of it is the Dark Engine itself and AI problems. But besides that... 9/10. I can say it's a proper old-school Thief full game; it doesn't look like a fan-made mod at all. Thief was my childhood; this can be my 30s'hood (lol). I like it and want more, but I guess we have to wait another 5-10 years.
On mission 7 and I describe TBP the same way I do Half-Life: Echoes *:* If you told me it was a long-lost expansion, I'd believe you from the quality alone.
Many things you can only reach by climbing. This was about the first game to allow that. You could shoot a rope arrow and climb almost anything.@@ChiefQueef_
@@chuckbrandon627 I would like to just say, that it's not 100% true. Such arrows only works on wood, and if you watch carefully, the Devs spent careful consideration where they put wooden surfaces. What sets this apart from Thief: Refail (2014) is that the clever use of wooden surfaces BLENDS into the world in a very natural believable way. Having a random pillar with rope on it to indicate "shoot here" takes you out of the immersion, just as bad as the now trendy "yellow paint". The world feels more organic and there is a flow the the world when you let the player FEEL like they are in control. Thief: Refail does not give the player a sense of control. It takes it form you.
YES! My most anticipated release in the last years. I had a hunch it was coming on thief's 25th birthday. Congrats to everybody involved with the project!
Conspiracy theory - the mod creators are actually Doug Church, Terri Brosius, Ken Levine and Laura Baldwin cuz man it was like the original writers were being channeled for this. The story for this is fantastic.
Just finished. Holy shit I know it's technically a prequel story but...damn, this could've been the proper Thief 3. I'm not one to blow my days off playing games but I stayed up a couple of nights finishing this. High school nerdy me is happy :)
Played The Dark Project for the first time in 99-2000. I was around 16. 22 years later and I'm even more excited than when I was a teen. The only game I'll take to my grave.
Hope everyone is playing it and loving it. If there's one thing I came away from during the betatest, is that this campaign is a BEAST. You have no idea what awaits you.
This looks fantastic, and yet it completely passed me by until now. I absolutely have to give it a try, nobody makes games like Thief anymore. Takes me right back to the early 2000s.
It looks like these maps really capture the oppressive, yet intriguing atmosphere of the original Dark Project. Excellent work and congrats on the release!
This thing completely obliterated my Christmas vacation and disrupted my sleep cycle. The words are not sufficient to describe the awesomeness. This kind of atmosphere is scarce nowadays. And the connections to the Trilogy not to say anything spoilerous, I got shivers probably in every level. Playing as Expert but still I'll definitly play this again to find what I did not. Builder, however, blessed me with his craft and I acquired the Holy Sword. I even resumed my DromEd study... Oh man...
I love this so so so so so much. Calling this a mod (which it of course is) feels way too underappreciative and doesn't serve justice to how good it really is. Huge kudos for the developer team for this gem. 🥰 And for the rest of us enjoy it you taffers! 😎
Finished it lately, great work is an under-estimation! It is fantastic, its big and well designed and it is quite creepy: Noirequier's tomb scared the heck out of me. So much thanks for the dev team for their work
this game is friggin great so far. i defintely consider it canon. it can be confusing with some levels but thats honestly like most of the theif games lol

As someone who have never played Thief before, do you guys think this could be a good entry point? I can imagine it won't include much in the way of tutorials, and the mission difficulty will probably be high enough to challenge veteran players in the community.
It is best to have played through either Thief 1 or 2 before playing this, yes. It's not extremely difficult but it assumes you're familiar with the game's base mechanics.
I feel that most Fan Missions (FMs) are made with the assumption that the player has beaten the originals on expert. Also, Thief I and II are genuine masterpieces that you should definitely play. So starting with the original campaigns is probably a good idea. If you enjoy Black Parade, check out other FMs like T2X: Shadows of the Metal Age.
@adamplechaty Thief 1 was a bit more horror themed than 2, with the pagans, woodsie lord realm, spiders, other weird creatures. I prefer it to Thief 2. I hate the spiders too lol, always have made me run for my life if they chase me 😂 For me it's just part of the horror aspect, so git gud and don't let the spiders catch you 😄

Thief was the first game to teach me to think in three dimensions. Very few other games, even now, force you to think this way.
Taught me to think four dimensions after I got myself to stop and watch guard routines/times.
What you mean 3 dimensions?
Many things you can only reach by climbing. This was about the first game to allow that. You could shoot a rope arrow and climb almost anything.@@ChiefQueef_
Talking about 3 dimensions: That was Descent for me. My head still hurts. Thief, however, teached me how to not sleep.

No kidding. I mean, no shit, sorry, but you ain't lying - I just completed it and it was GREAT.
I just finished mission 2, and I just want to say this is the best Thief experience I've ever had. Everything about this mod is incredible.
The wait felt like forever, can't believe its finally over, so excited to play this!

Legend. Old-school classics stealth games are the best
Welcome to the Black Parade, TAFFER!
This is literally a new thief game! And in retro graphics style, boy did Christmas come early!
I'm so so so hyped for this. Been looking forward to it for years. Thank you so much.
It looks like these maps really capture the oppressive, yet intriguing atmosphere of the original Dark Project. Excellent work and congrats on the release!
Gamers are literally a different breed, big ups
Congrats on the release, loving this already
Holy shit that timing. Just finished T2X a couple of days ago.

What a gift! Thank you. I have been playing pc games for over 50 years and Thief series is still the best!

YES! The prophecies were true after all!
Incredible work, everyone
A fantastic experience from start to finish. Easily some of the best level design in years and a fitting celebration of the Thief trilogy
Downloading it right now, and I can't wait to play it!
This looks great! And right at the time when I'm doing a thief playthrough in the Age of Decadence too!
I knew there was a reason I still played video games.
Sweet merciful Lord in heaven, it's happened!

Got it. I'll definitely give them a go!
Hot damn!
what is this coincidence
Nice
Please make a remake of the first parts on UE5!
F-word brilliant.
Thief 1 and 2 were and still are amazing, thief 3 started to change but still ok...thief 4 a joke.
Ah and thief fan made shadow of the metal age 😘
Can you play this with 32 bit system
GOTY, simple as.
I never played, but know of, the original game, is this compatible with Windows 98/Pentium II/3DFX? Prefer to play on original hardware.
We didn't try but we highly doubt it. Some of the scenery is very expensive.
Any spiders in there?
Quite a few, yes. Probably more than in the original game.
@@ykcaks ahhh dammit, I hated those little buggers, played thru SS2 with the no spiders mod even lol
