- Rhaenys is my favorite character in House of the Dragon. She is wise, kind, brave and has all the qualities to be a truly good ruler. So for me she will remain the Queen.

I know luke was the first casualty, but rheanys and meleys are the first victims of the war which rheanyra tried so hard to prevent by not sending the dragons to war
Luke was also not indended to die. Aemond wanted to take revenge on Luke or slicing his eye, and scare the shit out of him with his newly acquired dragon, the largest of them all (after having been ridiculed and bullied all his life, and given a pig for a dragon). Luke lost control of his dragon, and Arrax went into protect/kill mode and went up against Vheygar, who be like "Oh no he didn't..." and then Auemond lost control of Vheygar. No death was intended, only two stupid young boys playing with toys too big for their britches.

Is dude making a case for Aemond? What u described might not be murder, cuz the word u looking for us "Manslaughter'. If u confront a person and somehow it gets physical causing a death, u are tried for manslaughter (ex DUI cases, u didn't mean to kill anyone but it happened).
Book Aemond was the bully, pushing Joffrey into dragon droppings and consistently making jokes about the strong boys.
Show Aemond was somehow turned into the victim. Yet people criticise the show for being too biased towards the blacks lol. All while having Alicent accidentally misconstruing viserys dying words which started the civil war, having Cole accidentally committing murder during the green council, then having Aemond committing accidental murder at storms end. Lmfao

This is absolutely beautiful and encapsulates rhaeneys quite well. Meleys, my favourite dragon gone but never forgotten. The queen who never was and the red queen! Till the end
"Men would sooner put the realm to the torch than see a woman ascend the Iron Throne."
Rhaenys just about predicted and summarized the Dance of the Dragons with this line. She herself, the Queen that never was (obviously should have been), was the wisest and politically correct advisor to Rhaenyra. The two had their moments of not seeing eye to eye, but in the very end, Rhaenys would not let it come to pass that another woman would be denied her birthright. She brought valuable advice and experience to Team Black. Her loss is a big one to the show and to Rhaenyra, but she went out like a true Targaryen, fearless and honorable with her dragon Meleys, strapping herself to share whatever fate planned for her and her dragon at Rooks Rest. She was probably one of my favorite characters (yes, I know that's a recipe for heartbreak in these shows), and I know this is only the first of many losing their lives in this civil war.
Also, OVIK, AMAZING edit! It felt like I was watching a long trailer. I freaking loved this edit.
Rhaenys stood resolute as Rhaenyra's unwavering counselor and staunch defender, striving to avert the catastrophic war between kin and dragons. She beheld Rhaenyra's fearless resolve as she risked her life, boldly confronting Alicent in the Great Sept, seeking to forge a fragile path to peace and pull their houses back from the looming abyss. When all avenues were exhausted and the die cast, it was Rhaenys who first spilled the blood of the Greens. She embodied the promised prince from Aegon the Conqueror’s prophetic dream of the Song of Ice and Fire. Rest in eternal glory, Queen Rhaenys Targaryen and Meleys, the Red Queen.
I feel like when Meleys dragged her foot along the water before returning to battle, it was their way of saying goodbye to Corlys.. 🥲

And yes, she could have ended the war right there and then by burning Aegon but she choose to honour the will of those in the Dance of the dragon since it was not her War to decide.

Rhaenys volunteering for this was at least partly suicidal. This followed the scene where she meets Corlys' bastard son, confronts Corlys for his extramarital affair, and chides Corlys for hiding his son and tells him none of it was his son's fault. Then at the moment she volunteers to go meet Cole in battle, she turns and gives Corlys a look letting him know she is ready to die. It's not in this clip, but play the entire scene and you'll see that look she gives Corlys just before she turns and leaves.
