Two things that bothered me about Barron. 1) He never added weight/muscle in the off season even though he ciearly needed to 2) From hid comments at the beginning of the year he seemed like he had no unterest in playing a physical game. In his last couple of games he was more physical but he might get hurt doing it. All to say I'm afraid simpler defensive system might make him thrive in Nashville because he does have talent.
I prefer he stay in Laval until next year. The Rocket are doing so well and they have a legit chance at winning it all. If the up and comers gain playoff experience in the AHL they'll be better for it when they do get called up.
I agree. We have rushed too many young players up to the NHL. Leave Logan in Laval for the rest of this year and give him and his young team-mates a chance to work in the playoffs. They all need that experience before coming up!
I think Struble will be the next trade. Carriere will show up the defensive liabilities on the D line. There is nothing wrong with learning your craft at the the AHL level. Someone on the D is going to get traded: Stuble/Savard/Matheson. Mailloux will get there
@@shaunstarr I like Struble too but he could be so much tougher in the corners. If he crunched people like Arber, then I think he would be untouchable. He plays a little soft in my view. Plus (a big plus) I watched him get beat trying to turn both left and right on speedy wingers; not good.
Great interview as usual. If Mailloux makes it as a 5 ill be happy. To be competitive and defend against the best left wingers we will need a high end talented RHD
After listening to this I'm questioning if Sean has watched any Laval games lately... We're not seeing the Mailloux we saw last year, he's even lost the PP QB spot to Engstrom.
Hey Guys, love the shows, I think this teams needs some men, Carriere is good start, too many boys playing a man's sport, until these guys do some growing up, the Montreal Canadians need to get tougher around the edges. Cheers thanks
Carrier has more pop in his game than he’s shown in Nashville. There’s some Spurgeon in there. Totally agree. Time to call up Mailloux for good. Imagine him with Guhle, Hutson, Reinbacher??!! Matheson should be moved as he’s at peak value IMO.
Remember Larry Robertson serge savard and Guy Lapointe, the big three, and the next one's are going to be on steroids aber xhekaj Logan mailloux and David Reinbacher, and then to add Jacob Fowler in net. This is gonna be one of the best defensive course since the nineteen seventies...
Habs have Leverage over Logan given his “history.” While I don’t agree with the tactic, Logan has NO leverage. This isn’t about Logan being blackballed by the Habs, it’s about using organizational leverage, which is wise.
@@shaunstarr Demidov is an unknown quantity in the NHL. He may blossom immediately or take a couple of years longer. There are no guarantees. He may not pan out at all because of the physical game. We have to wait and see.
Don’t understand the idea of calling up Mailloux. Strubble is already sitting and can’t get in the lineup. They aren’t gonna sit Matheson or Savard. It’s best to keep him in Laval at this point and let him play. But I agree I think Strubble is the next Dman to get traded
Have ever seen Robinson play ??? Sorry to desappoint you but Mailloux will only be a 3rd pairing defenseman in the NHL. I want what you are smoking 😅 !!!
@powers1500 First of all, yes I saw Robinson play from his prime until he retired. You take Mailloux size and skill and you have all the ingredients. What is missing though is to have someone develop that talent, perhaps Robinson himself. P.S . I don't smoke 😜
Have you actually watched Robinson? Comparing Mailloux to Robinson, even if you are only talking about potential, is the worst hot take I have ever seen.
I wish I will be wrong here but Mailloux will likely become an NHL 3rd pairing defenseman because of his poor defensive game. He might be more valuable to Montreal if he is part of a futur trade than if they kept him a few more seasons, a bit like David Jiricek with Columbus !!!
Logan is not a fighter. He checks and shoves but he doesn't drop the gloves. I saw him fight in the OHL and he was put down by much smaller player. If he is partnered with Arber, then yes he will be a lot harder player.
What's wrong with letting the young players have success in the AHL first. Habs fans are so impatient. MAilloux won't move the needle on making the playoffs. The rocket are having a good season, let's see if they can make a deep playoff run. Let them build chemistry with each other so that when these guys make the jump to the NHL there's some familiarity with linemates and D pairings.
Why not. Like I said before, when you're at the bottom, it's about development. He has questions on his D game? Ok. No surprise, I don't mind the losses!
They are waiting for Mailloux because of the accusations there was against him... they hope people forget and don't bring it up as soon as he goes out to dinner or something
They have different skill sets , Mailloux is a big mean guy that can take guys out using his size and drop his mitts. Hutson is more of a finess player . You need a good mix of players and habs are going to need mean guys ready to do some dirty work once they become a playoff team .
Hey Shaun, Don't know about Reinbacher being a top 4 D man, I do believe Mailloux is ready but as Campbell said they will not bring him up to be a 7th D man. On a side note your dynamic with Simon is excellent on the morning show, much better than you and the beard.
If he’s playing 24min a night in a few years he’s top 4 and it’s a good pick. That’s how I’ve settled this pick in my mind otherwise I’d go nuts thinking about the offense in that draft year
MARTIN ST LUOIS IS JEALOUS OF TALL, STRONG, GRITTY PLAYERS. HE WANTS TO WIN GAMES BY USING SMALL PLAYERS THAT REMIND HIM OF HIMSELF. ........HIS DAYS ARE NUMBERED.
Mailloux is down still to help Laval and to help build some of his defensive game, but I agree with Sean C that they should let him brew in the NHL like Hutson.

Should be interesting to see it play out but i do see a Logan call up this season maybe after Savard trade?
could mailloux close to a sheldon souray type of defensemen?
That’s a great comp
