Tbh I started playing wow in 2006 and my goal was to get good enough to raid black temple for the warglaives. Got my off hand first after 40 something runs, and my mh came around 90. I felt accomplished even though it was near the end of TBC when new wrath expansion came out, I still used them and t6 gear to do the new naxx and out dps the raid lol. 😅
I used to walk around towns in wow seeing people with cool armor/mounts inspect them just to see it and now a days I couldn't tell you the last time I cared about gear in wow because most of it is random shop skins or purple/ "legendaries" I couldn't care less about
watching this make me think , are we gonna have AQ20 and AQ40 opening in SoD with all the runes and streamer getting their faction ready to fight ? that would be legendary opening of AQ imagine how insane it is for people to do opening AQ again with new runes and so many people fight with different spec
I kinda thought that classic+ would be perfect to insert with Cataclysm. Now with SoD it may not happen, but so many of the future expansions happen because of the sundering, and Thrall having to leave Garrosh in charge. If they changed the sundering to not redo every zone, and instead create a few new ones, and maybe change something miniscule from the old world, they could use that as a split in the timeline of the game. Changing what happens during the Cataclysm is the perfect way to split the game off, while resolving what was established from vanilla and before. If Thrall doesn't leave, he can mentor Garrosh, so no MoP or WoD. If the burning legion still attacks, it completely different circumstances, with an unfractured horde. This means no BFA or Shadowlands.
Xaryu I am really loving your reactions lately. I am so happy that you are branching into this. I am also happy to see you branching into playing other games also. We watch your channel for you. You continue to grow as an entertainer. Thank you for all that you do!
One of my memorable moments I remember was all the pvp battles in TM vs SS in Hillsbrad. Another one was when epic gear felt epic or when approaching an elite I had to guess if I can pull it off and defeat it or will I need to find a group. When elites lived up to its rank. Once all that went away is when I quit for the "First" time. No one can quit WoW the first time after all.
My most memorable moments were probably getting TF and the exalted frostsaber mount back in vanilla. Not a lot of ppl on the server had either at the moment. Felt pretty special to me.
In Vanilla, you had to carry your mount or mounts in your inventory. Shaman had to carry totems as well, warlocks carried soul shards, it was really insane!

My problem with legendaries was that raiding was required for it. They needed difficult tasks that required a great deal of effort but not an entire raid group funneling to one person. There is nothing good about either legendary system.
Xar, back in vanilla, having a char with full epic gear meant something. Tbf, I don't know about everyone having legendary items, I never went past Wotlk.
I feel like most people will be wrong. Cata was basically my first expansion. I came end of wrath and beginning of cata. When Classic initially released I felt like i was in cata again. The only notable differences were the questing zones, you could go into another talent tree even when you haven't completed one of the others, and you couldn't fly. As far as questing and progression it felt very much the same with a bit more difficulty. At least to me. I felt like Mist of pandaria was when things got weird. The talents got boring, you didn't have to train anymore, leveling was cheese and the story lost is gritty battle tone i was use to.
the pre wrath zombocalypse was a crazy time (i did not play during the corrupted blood event i started end of BC) i can remember being in the middle of nowhere in nagrand when i saw a zombie named "Lump". thinking this was a rare mob i attacked. it died but for me it was too late. i was infected. returning to my hearth location i was cleansed but stormwind was overrun by zombies and the auction house was being attacked by hordes of player zombies and there were skeletons EVERYWHERE! it was the most insane thing i have seen in wow.
About legenadries. I thinks the problem with current retail is that you get balanced with legenadry in mind, so if you dont have it - with 99% probability ur spec will suck balls. The best solution to that is make legendaries like set from Legion Trial of Valor, when you kill all bosses w/o dying on mythic. Its rare, its have nothing to do with dps/hps. Only tmog. Mounts can be part of it as well. Like mentioned Black Qiraji
Cata gave us instant death in Uldum. Never forget 9/11. Thou Cata drove expansions to modern way. It was not bad expansion, original firelands was amazing. Bad expasions are Draenor, Shadowlands and Dragonflight. The Pandaria was better than these with timeless isle, throne of thunder and so on. There was a lot to do in Pandaria with lego cloaks and raiding. Maybe these upcomibg 3 expansions makes one old expansion worth content.
I understand peoples thoughts on classic being only up untill wrath, and i honestly agree, but im pretty excited about cata classic and especialy mop classic, because at the time cata and mop where a thing, i literally just loged to play 3s and 2s arenas, so i kinda feel like i missed on cata and mop pve content, mainly challenge modes from mop, as im a Mythic + andy and i really missed the train on og challenge modes.
Xaryu, I agree. In the expac where we all got a legendary right off, I never felt right with that. Oh, did a couple of quests, bam! legendary. I'd wanted Ashbringer forever, yet when I had it, it felt wrong. Shame on Blizz for having decided screw the players who had to earn this thing, here ya go y'all. When Blizz f* up, they do it royally. I love LFD/ but for raids, it needed or should've remained gather the # of players needed, then meet up. Too much simplification Blizz.
@3:58 today everybody WHINING they're not getting the lego in retail, because now you need it to be "competative" in m+. How do you solve it? Having m+ in tournament realm? For me 99% of the game is about the rng and getting the loot, and 1% is atually doing keys and raids with friends and i would never touch anything in a tournament realm. But i also LOVED getting the lego in retail back in december, like the chad I am I always loot the good stuff quick.
In WoW, every player character is a legendary hero, towering above the countless peasants that populate the game's fictional universe. However, the pursuit of legendary items often leads to a toxic environment, where exclusivity is achieved through political maneuvering and group dynamics. To obtain a legendary item, players typically rely on the support of 24 or 39 other players, regardless of whether they truly deserve the item or not. This system, while traditional, can foster negativity and frustration among players. WoW's notorious time-gating mechanics further exacerbate the issue, creating a sense of urgency and competition that detracts from the immersive fantasy experience. Instead, there should be avenues for players to progress at their own pace, without feeling like they're in a constant race. One of the core appeals of WoW is the ability for players to embody legendary attributes, such as casting spells and wielding powerful weapons, traits that set them apart from the mundane existence of everyday life. The game intentionally avoids including characters who are mere "regular Joes," as players seek to escape the ordinary through their virtual avatars. While exclusivity and first-place rewards have their place, it's crucial for the game's health to provide meaningful goals for average players to strive towards. This could involve diversifying the means of obtaining legendary items, such as through guild activities, grinding for rare drops, chance encounters, crafting quests, and PvP engagements. By offering multiple paths to greatness, WoW can ensure that every player feels invested in their journey, enriching the overall gaming experience. After all, the value of a legendary item diminishes if there's no one left to appreciate it due to player dissatisfaction or disengagement caused by political dynamics. Ultimately, a balanced approach that rewards both effort and chance can elevate the enjoyment of WoW for all players.
Most of wow is very much a “you had to be there” thing. People seem to like what they’ve been doing with the classic stuff though so maybe that’s worth checking out. I don’t think retail is great for someone who’s never played.
I started in 8.3 and have had plenty of fun in retail as well as all of the classic versions. Honestly you might as well just try them for yourself and see if you enjoy them-- there's plenty of good times in any version of WoW for the players who enjoy the type of games they are. And I say that as someone likely quitting soon, after having gotten 4 years of fairly heavy playtime out of the game plus whatever else I end up doing casually. At most you might waste a few hours of your time and like $50 or w.e buying the newest expansion just to find out you're not a fan (pretty sure new customers get a month free with an expansion purchase but could be wrong)-- or even just $15 if you only bother trying one of the wow classic versions.
What you are explaining with "Legendary's" has been what people have been screaming about for a decade now. Its a simple concept that Blizzard abandoned long ago and its beyond me that so many people dont understand such a simple concept.
I...disagree with the TGC item take. I actually owned some before they went up on Twitch and I honestly dont care that others have them now. I didnt see tgem as a status symbol (nor was I dumb enough to pay thousands of IRL money for a virtual item, I got em from friends and such as gifts during the actual TCG era). They arent available in any other way now, so they SHOULD come back. I had Spectral Tiger Cub and when it came on the trading post I didnt care. Sure it went from 1mil gold to worthless overnight but oh well. I still had YEARS of having something most people didnt. But I don't gatekeep so letting others have em now? Doesnt bother me.
@@VelvetSkyyeRight? And when you consider some people paid like...TENS OF THOUSANDS for things like the Feldrake or Spectral Tiger I just....Don't really feel sympathy for them because they were dumb enough to pay that much for an item in WoW....
Legendaries arent hard to get. Theyre just long either via a long quest line, or a low % drop that most people just dont want to fuckin do. Nazuro and fyre'lath, for example, are functionally -no- different than sulfuras or thunderfury. They actually take -longer- to get due to their quest lines being multiple stepsm Or in atiesh/scarab lords case, the only reason they are rare AT ALL is because both of them were SEVERELY time limited and the SL quest chain required you to clear a lot of group content in a short time span...and then were removed. TCG mounts have NEVER meant anything. You bought it with real money and, in the beginning, just got lucky. Who the fuck cares if someone else got a fel drake. you did nothing for it to begin with. You literally just had more cash money than other people or got lucky with packs. The 1.2 mounts are much better examples, because they tequired you to get 1k gold wothin the first 6 months of release, and if you wanted a mount that wasnt your faction you also had to get exalted, and you largely did it solo. Not spending a random number of money for a pack, holding the item after blizzard quit making the tcg for hearthstone ( which is literally the only reason the mounts skyrocketed in price to begin with)
The whole RealID system was one of those things that were good in theory but terrible in practise. Like it or not, the WoW community is one of the most hostile, toxic fanbases out there and introducing a way to deal with that is a good idea. But the RealID was not the answer. For starters Blizz, maybe you should stop incentivizing the hatred between the factions. Having one faction you prefer over the other is totally fine, we all have a favorite and that's ok. That is what makes WoW fun to play afterall. But literally encouraing the playerbase to despise and hate players from the other faction is probably the reason this started in the first place. Someone just mentioning a faction is enough to make people of the other one enter rage mode, throwing shade and insulting the player, his family and everything he stands for. Even if he never said that he actually play that faction, all he did was mention it. Personally, I play both factions, as only playing one side makes you miss out on at least half a story which is a shame, but even I have a faction I prefer over the other, even thought I still like the other one. I'm not asking you to get rid of the Factions entire Blizz, although that might solve the issue, but maybe make an effort to motivate friendly competative rivalry instead.
