You could have easily uploaded half of this video (just after the front end repair) and called it there, but you give us full out 39 minutes of amazing content. Most TH-camrs would have made several videos out of this. Great work again, can’t wait for the next one! 👏🏼
Same thing happened to my dads 530D E60 Manual!!! He chopped it out and fixed it all up on our backgarden!! All thats left is a tiny bit of welding and paint but sadly he passed away on the 16th of feb from stage 4 cancer so now its down to me!!!! Labour of love but im gonna enjoy fixing it in honour of him! What a legend he was and I love your guys channel to the moon and back!
Hi Mat, some info for you. The reason why your second-hand headlights worked once swapping the modules from the old unit is because they are specifically coded into the FRM (Foot-Well Module). Each car has its own unique FRM and, in turn, means the modules are also coded to that specific FRM. For example if your footwell module went down and had to be replaced you would have to code the FRM to the vehicle and then the modules would code in from there. How I think of it is modules can't communicate with their FRM if it's not made aware they are present. Hope that helps
You have 1 module thats the big square one and it is coded too the car. The other ones are just heatsinks for the LEDs. You can code the other headlight modules
these vehicle lights run with the Body domain controller or BDC, and the has the use of control units in the headlights and links with the module that switches then on and off by the drivers side.
Hey Matt, When I was 16 I had a kidney transplant and it lasted 13 years. Unfortunately august last year that kidney failed and I now have dialysis 3 times a week for 4 hours a day at the hospital. But watching and enjoying your videos helps me massively dealing with this situation. Keep up your amazing work! You are a massive inspiration for us fellow petrol heads! 👏🏻🚗🔧
Hey man keep it up. I've been on dialysis since 2001 with 2 transplants in between that each lasted less than 5 years. It sucks but can be done long term!! I go to a center also 3 nights 4 hours each but it's kept me around for my little boys.
What you telling your mum for ? Permission to watch a PG TH-cam video? So long as you’ve done your homework your bedroom is tidy and your beds made crack on 😂
Hey Matt I’ve just rebuilt a 530d and had the same issues replacing the headlights, I too swapped the modules and got them working. I’m sure it’s to do with the original modules already coded to the car. Your face when they worked reminded me that’s how I looked when mine worked. Keep up the good work matey
Headlights worked since u changed the light control unit (it contains the original VIN to the vehicle ) the rest of the headlight is just wiring and LEDs. I think there’s even a way to program the unit but it requires special tools to rewrite the EPROM that contains all the codes inside the CU. So happy to see the lights pop on and understanding how everything works is even more exciting.

So nice that you can do this with your father !! Last week me and my dad decided to fix a broken seat slider in my car. It's a simple Renault Clio seat, no fuss about it, and we had a spare one in the cellar. We had to figure out where all the bolts are, how to disconnect air bag lines and how to deal with tricky torx screws since we don't have the torx nuts and screwdrivers. It took us 3 hours to do everything but it was so worth it. Great way to play with a car a bit, and even better to do it with my father.
I do collision repair for a living and absolutely love these videos. Matts videos are like that one cool car you get to fix every couple months in the shop but for every video. So entertaining. Best of luck with the rear end, looks bad on camera but definitely very fixable

Even enjoy Liam popping in, Mallory is amazing as well for helping out when they can and making bangs and pops after a quick tune. Dude knows what he's doing. Keep it up and I look forward to the next one!

From starting as a pro BMX rider, to working 2 full time jobs; giving up a lot of personal time to achieve your ultimate dream. All I can say is that this has given me the motivation that I have been needing. See, I lost my father almost 2 years ago now and when that occurred…well, I lost my way and I would be lying if I said I have found my purpose again in life. I guess what I am trying to say is…THANK YOU! You have done more than you will ever know for I crashed my car into a k rail going about 80 mph and I was trying to end the suffering that I was feeling. Well, I ended up completely fine but I lost my car and I haven’t been able to afford one since. So again, I just wanted to say THANK YOU FOR SAVING ME FROM MYSELF AND THANK YOU FOR GIVING ME A SECOND CHANCE AT LIFE! One day, I would love to repair cars like you.I am 18 and I love your videos, I always look at the entire video.Once I have the money and the tools, I will do the same job as you, thank you for making my day better when you post.I love it
Just keep in mind he makes 40-50k a month from youtube,so he's not making any money from the cars ,and doesn't need to..its just good content..great videos tho
You have a laugh no matter what the issue, you know there's a way to overcome it. It doesn't matter the cost. it's just great to see how it's going to turn out in the end and the journey to getting there is superb. Dont let your ego get like the tv celebs we've seen on top gear. Keep it real like you are doing. It's truly great.
Imagine I Just called a company to ask them if they repair locked out seatbelts and they said no but if you go and watch Matt Armstrongs video I'm sure he says who he sends he's seatbelts to. I said Iv already watched all his videos but ill go back over em now. You'r literately a NATIONAL Legend. Please tell me who you send your seat belts to.

Hi Matt, both myself and my Dad are addicted to your builds, but sadly my father passed away on Monday. He has left a massive hole in my heart , and he will be gutted he missed this build as he loved BMW’s, so please make this an epic build, and I can’t wait to see it. Cheers Matt & Team God bless 👍
Take peace in the knowledge that he'll be right there watching it with you, he may be physically out of your sight now but he'll be forever by your side, God bless you both
20:17 amazing! That is a ingenious way of getting the damage out of the back by putting that tool in and pumping it. I have some damage on my personal vehicle from a rear end incident and I'm thinking of taking that idea and seeing if I could pump out the dent myself
I love 99% of the modifications you do but that DRL yellow is no go for me but the front bumper did make up for it! Still maintaining the 10/10 score for me! Love all the content and keep up the great work!
Your show is absolutely fantastic! The way you effortlessly simplify the complexities of car rebuilding makes it not only easy to understand but also incredibly fun to follow along. Your dedication to delivering high-quality content is truly inspiring. Keep up the amazing work.

Love your channel. Makes my Friday getting home from work wind down. You and your dad are lucky to have each other. Would love to have a beer with the two of you!
YES!!! Thanks Mat... I thought I was the only one who thought who in BMW thought of the most horrible grill design? And wow.. that replacement is SUPER COOL!
Dude, I'm 20min into this vid and there is so much content!!!! Thank you for not spreading it out for 567456 episodes. This is my modern dream car, I'll be following! Also, idk bout the front bumper... I mean, it looks nice, i just think that it looks a little too stretched out.
I don't think many people would agree with me ,but In my opinion , with the yellow DRLs , the car would look sick in Black. At the end of the day, it's your decision Mat, im just throwing it there as an idea probably. That aside, keep it up man! Love watching your vids!
The reason for headlamps to work after transferring modules is because the modules are programmed to that car. for some vehicles after changing the headlamps you will need to reprogram the headlamps to the vehicle or transfer over modules. This is also why they sell headlamp housing without the modules so you can transfer them over as to buy the modules with the headlamp will be expensive
Mat i love your videos, ive learnt so much about cars since ive started watching you videos! Im trying to get a job as a mechanic and ive been watching your videos for a while and i just wanted to say thank you!
The modules you changed on the headlights with the red seal around the multi plug is called a FLE(R) and FLE(L) or front light electronics r=right l=left . These are coded to the vehicle which is why the brand new second hand ones didn’t work . Swapping them works or like you said in the video a software update/coding would of also worked . When working on a BMW group vehicle you need to be using ISTA diagnostics. It would make your like so much easier . 👍🏼👍🏼
New fan. Ill fall asleep watching my other car shows on YT and always wake up in the middle of MA 3 hour vids and cant go back to sleep. Great job on these video’s, and I absolutely love your attitude in general but especially towards problems you run into. 👏🏽👏🏽🔥🔥🔥
If this one goes up for offer via the raffle system it's going to be the only time in my life I'll regret being American. I want one of those SO bad!!!!! Looking forward to this one getting done. Love your content Matt, keep crushing it.
Absolutely loving this build Matt. Your videos and content are unique and your relationship with your team and sponsors is awesome. Really looking forward to seeing the M3 hitting the road again.
Love watching you guys do a lot of hard stressful work that you see others going crazy and getting mad but you just laugh at it and at each other it makes you more enjoyable to watch.
I'm a fan of your channel. You are an inspiration to me to work on the cars, and one day, i will be doing the same kind of work you are doing. And BMW coded their headlights with the car ecu system. And the bit you changed on the lights also have light computer in them.
I admire what you do, I have always liked this type of work, I wish you were closer and could help me repair my vehicle, keep moving forward and recovering more high-end vehicles that are abandoned...
It is utterly incredible how amazing you and this channel are. Your retention rate on TH-cam must be so high because I feel compelled to watch the whole video because it's so damn interesting.
Never disappointing Mat and Team. I'm always Amazed at how you guys manage to nerver cuss throughout the video... Me in your shoes I cussed out loud quite a few times, ahahhaa, but you guys always positive, energetic and well-humoured! Cheers to you guys!!! Love how the car is turning out. Wish I had a set of wheels to move around and get more work done, any wheels, even this car with the back crushed! Lol... It's just already blessed by all the good vibes you guys have already laid on it with your hands. 💪💪🙌🙌🤞🤞
You know Mats are real car enthusiast by the care he takes not to hit the door on the lift pillar when he’s sat inside, yet the entire cars basically scrap atm 😂💪
12:21 @MatArmstrongbmx I know you said in the video that you didn't have previous success doing this on other projects as I have seen; but.......... I currently work at a BMW dealer and have fitted new headlights several times before in different situations. I believe the reason the new lights worked after you swapped the control units and LED modules over from the old lights is because those were already programmed to the vehicle so worked straight away and saved time. Otherwise, you would have course have to have programmed the new lights to the vehicle. Also, just wanted to say I absolutely love your videos and you do such a great job despite not being a professional. Still think your not that far off😂👍. Would be an absolute dream to do something like this or even be involved in awesome and challenging projects like these which are absolutely worth the end product. One more thing, absolutely love the custom Yellow CS style spec LED modules, Custom ADRO front bumper, carbon strut braces, oil cooler skid plate, and can't wait to see the final product 😀😎😍. Also, I know it would be more cost, but I reckon an entire ADRO kit would look insane!! All the best and keep up the great vids.
Could you add a section in your videos how you organize screws etc when picking a car apart? Love these series, just started to gain interest in cars again after many years!
Great job and love the channel. I would suggest you get a nice set of plastic pry tools for working around the plastic and leather on those expensive cars so you don't mark up anything.

I’m surprised you have electricity to be able to watch this..
@@edjohn4590cmon man, don’t be so narrow minded 🫣
One day, I would love to repair cars like you.I am 18 and I love your videos, I always look at the entire video.Once I have the money and the tools, I will do the same job as you, thank you for making my day better when you post.I love it
Just keep in mind he makes 40-50k a month from youtube,so he's not making any money from the cars ,and doesn't need to..its just good content..great videos tho
Another great video Matt... A real pleasure to watch you and your Dad work together...
Congrats with the valvoline partnership man, absolutely well deserved! only hard work and dedication
35:54 "for rolls Royce quite interesting isn't it?" Matt giving us a hint that his brought the rolls Royce 😂
really hope he did😂
You have a laugh no matter what the issue, you know there's a way to overcome it.
Dude........that front bumper is another level ........ The headlight color is so and so......but your work makes it look easy to repair cars.....well done.....I am a big fan of you guys .......and now you have fans from Tripoli Libya which is where I am located.....keep up the great work you do.
MAT THAT FRONT BUMPER!!!!! YOU ARE FIXING THE CAR IN WAYS I DID NOT THINK POSSIBLE. Holy beautiful!!!
wow, he put a bumper on it 😮
@@glareicebutts1423 it’s a horrendously hideous car. Putting a front bumper on it had a surprisingly extreme effect on that.
I'm not really a fan of BMW, but the way you present the rebuild is phenomenal. Thank you and I can't wait to see another episode!
Agreed hate bmws ugly cars
@@Karakaboardriderswe’ll it’s actually not ugly to meand many people out there. And its not about being good looking or ugly .Its actually about engine and the overall experience u get with a bmw. Peace ✌️
I'm sorry for your loss
Mayhis soul rest in peace
Take peace in the knowledge that he'll be right there watching it with you, he may be physically out of your sight now but he'll be forever by your side, God bless you both
RIP
So sorry man...
Yeah, I gotta agree. That new Bumper definitely improves the front end. I'm looking forward to seeing it painted up!
Wow, amazing progress. That new front bumper looks sick, can't wait to see it painted.
Your show is absolutely fantastic! The way you effortlessly simplify the complexities of car rebuilding makes it not only easy to understand but also incredibly fun to follow along. Your dedication to delivering high-quality content is truly inspiring. Keep up the amazing work.
LOVE THIS CONTENT AND ENJOY MATT'S EXPERIENCES!!!
Gm trust me I started watching you and I can’t stop I am amazed of how you do your thing I really do love to watch your show God bless you being a Christian this is my favorite show to watch if I am not watching my church videos
WOW, totally blown away Mat, you guys have smashed it out of the park. We are so lucky to have you and spoil all of us with so much content. Totally love everything and everyone on the channel. Thanks again Mat, you've made my night😘🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🥂🤗🤗🤗🤗🤯🤯🤯🤯🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳
Just crashed my car not to long ago and this video really makes me excited to fix it, my rear quarter panel on the driver side got pretty messed up but nowhere near the The damage of this M3 and seeing you fix it makes me really think my car will be back on the road!!
Matt Armstrong!!! I love your videos mate!!! Watching them and watching the details you share through your videos makes me enjoy them more and more... Sharing the experience and joy you go through and showing your commitment through your builds gives me joy knowing you get joy through these projects!!! LOVE IT MATE AND KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK AND THE VIDOES!!! 😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁
After having a really shity week. Being scammed/robbed out of my £6k e-bike and my coping with wife losing her dad this year I needed a pick me up . Thanks Matt keep up with the great videos kind regards
Just loving your success, Mat. Big respect - all your hard work and years of graft are finally paying off. No one deserves it more than you, my friend
Dude, I'm 20min into this vid and there is so much content!!!! Thank you for not spreading it out for 567456 episodes. This is my modern dream car, I'll be following! Also, idk bout the front bumper... I mean, it looks nice, i just think that it looks a little too stretched out.
Ever see someone and just think... Yeh they deserve all the success coming to them?
You deserve a TV deal!! I would watch every season! 😭😮💨
14:50 Mat starting the car with mouth sounds. coldstart WhoooAAAAAAAAA
New fan. Ill fall asleep watching my other car shows on YT and always wake up in the middle of MA 3 hour vids and cant go back to sleep. Great job on these video’s, and I absolutely love your attitude in general but especially towards problems you run into. 👏🏽👏🏽🔥🔥🔥
I literally manisfested the adro bumper since the start of the video 😍🔥
Looks great!
If this one goes up for offer via the raffle system it's going to be the only time in my life I'll regret being American. I want one of those SO bad!!!!! Looking forward to this one getting done. Love your content Matt, keep crushing it.
You nailed it with the new Bumper.... Man I have to say 10,5 / 10 That will look bad ass! Cant wait to see the finish car
Love it to see you working with your dad. Greetings from germany
Awesome looking front bumper cover...way better than the original!
It is utterly incredible how amazing you and this channel are. Your retention rate on TH-cam must be so high because I feel compelled to watch the whole video because it's so damn interesting.
Happy woman's day! Love your vids bro. Keep up the work wo-man...
Your skills are off the chart mate. Another brilliant video, I hate it when they end.
Matt and his dad could definitely be a Netflix series great videos and great workmanship
You know Mats are real car enthusiast by the care he takes not to hit the door on the lift pillar when he’s sat inside, yet the entire cars basically scrap atm 😂💪
This guy and his team are pure gold entertainment. Good luck with the rear. You can do it
12:21 @MatArmstrongbmx
I know you said in the video that you didn't have previous success doing this on other projects as I have seen; but..........
All the best and keep up the great vids.
this floored me "Because the passenger wasnt driving" 25:15
Could you add a section in your videos how you organize screws etc when picking a car apart? Love these series, just started to gain interest in cars again after many years!
I hit the like button even before I started the video, love your work mate and the dynamic of the entire crew.
Hanna at 13:40 in the background doing the paperwork to make sure they don't go bankrupt 😂 Good job Hannah ❤
Finally! A video that I found ENTERTAINING!!
That Adro bumper is gorgeous, good choice Mat
Great job and love the channel. I would suggest you get a nice set of plastic pry tools for working around the plastic and leather on those expensive cars so you don't mark up anything.
Thank you for these videos Mat, really nice to watch after 12 hour work day. Love from Finland
The front bumper is absolutely beautiful! 😍 Great work!
Matt your videos are uplifting mate, I hope you keep getting all the success you deserve.
binge watched loads of these new, awesome channel looking forward to seeing the wraith fixed up
Love the new front bumper!!!

Favorite build so far.. I love EVERY single thing about it.
