After watching far too many videos on Metashape, this is the best I've found. Thank you, Kelly, for an extremely detailed, nuanced and real-world overview. Much different from others that are more superficial and do not appear to have the same real-world hands-on experience that you possess.

Nice Tutorial. I am a Texas RPLS with lots of Lidar & aerial mapping experience. Working on integrating Agisoft & UAV work flows and really appreciate your channel.
I am a surveying student at UMaine, and would really appreciate it if you posted the data so I could practice. Seriously thank you for posting the content that you do, I want to get into photogrammetry and LiDAR and it helps!
Thanks for making this helpful video! 9:20 in the Optimize Camera Alignment box what are all those options. When I got to that point several were pre-selected but I don't know what they mean or if I should keep them selected. Is it important to clean up the sparse cloud with the gradual selection tool? Would we do that before adding markers or after? Thanks!
Great video. I wonder why didn't you use automatic marker detection? I think i saw that in some of your videos. Where you do automatic marker detection, rename points and than import points with coordinates.
Thanks. I wanted to show the manual way to assign the GCPs in this video. Honestly, automatic detection rarely works on my projects, except for very low flights/large targets. Glad you liked the video.
Great videos I'm new to this how do you get it to take the grid of photos do you need a flight path then are u putting ground points out with a gps kit cheers. I'm guessing you need a really expensive drone to do this
with that big altitude errors between cameras and GCPs, should you uncheck cameras during optimization process? i was told since photoscan that they should be unchecked prior optimization, if non RTK drone is used, to avoid vertical incorrect reference information
It's been my understanding that filter by confidence only displays the results of filtering but doesn't remove the low confidence points.. To remove the low confidence points we need to select and delete them before proceeding with the workflow. Now I need to do more research...
Any tips on classification of points? I see Metashape has an automatic classification option that would certainly help get down to bare ground if it works well. Thanks!
Processing locally. I have a i7 desktop SSD drive, 32gb ram and a GTX1080. It works great, but I'm sure the newer stuff would be much faster! i9 RTX2080...

@@RayWeger No problem! Let me know if I can help in other ways. SkySurv.us
What are the obtimal values to be obtained in marker error and pixel error as a whole in the reference panel
Great job.. this is a very helpful video for newcomers. Thank you for posting.

Thank you for the help on getting Metashape into state plane. What is the best way to put in a ground scale factor?
How about generating DTM under high vegetation?I think manually deleting vegetation would be too laborious .
Is it possible to filter the photos with the markers on it so you can place markers easily?.
Any idea Why the building edges somewhat not proper in tiff file after processing???

@@kellyness7915 Keep up with the videos, I would love to see more. Like feature extraction from point cloud for topographic maps.
elo,how to use automatic marker detection?

Can you share the dataset or similar to this
What points are you importing in the beginning? Aren't the points auto imported from the photos?
Those would be ground control points. Used to achieve a high degree of accuracy.
Do you have a workflow with Multispectral Data? I surely would appreciate one. We use the Micasense.
Not multispectral. But I have done some thermal processing if that would help.
SkySurv LLC I actually have some thermal pictures as well. For research purposes, when we fly, we take RGB, MSS and thermal pictures.

You don't need to spend all that much on a drone($500-$1500). But the GPS equipment will set you back significantly more($5000-10,000!!)
with that big altitude errors between cameras and GCPs, should you uncheck cameras during optimization process? i was told since photoscan that they should be unchecked prior optimization, if non RTK drone is used, to avoid vertical incorrect reference information
You can uncheck the photos, or decrease their accuracy - where it will use the GCP coordinate(which should be set to a few CM, or 0.05' or so)

That is an option as well. Although, I prefer to classify them as "ground"

Thanks for the reply. I'll keep that in mind as I continue to learn more.

I have yet to have any luck with the automatic classification. It is not dependable for production use...
Is there a link to the dataset?
What are your computer specs? Are you processing on the cloud or on local hardware?

Hi! Great video! I'm getting an error when import the GCPs "can't find match for '01' entry. Create new marker". Would you what could it be?
Right click on the location of the GCP if you need to add a point!
hi
great video
where i can see the gcp file ?
How accurate this DEM could be?
maybe compliant with a 1 foot interval ASPRS standard.
what is the point of adding points or markers? is it necessary?
How to georeference?
please more video
