    Welcome to floss tube world I just found your Chanel and love it
    . They do have a gadget where if you are going to thread more than one needle with different color floss then all you do is put the needle in the felt and then you put the number of the floss color and all the needles are ready for you to continue stitching. I am also a crafter. Keep going love love your Chanel.🍁🍂🌻

    FFO is fully finished object! It’s when you take a finished cross stitch piece and turn it into something: a pillow, a pincushion, or just plain framed. Welcome to flosstube!

    I’ve been stitching for most of my life and watching flosstube for a few years. All I can say is WOOOOOW. You fit right in to flosstube-land. You seem so relaxed and right at home with it. Love the projects you chose, especially the haunted house one. I love how you finished that one in the mason jar lid with the jenga piece and especially that you shared how you did that. Please keep sharing that kind of info. Please keep posting videos when you can!!! Welcome to your new addiction.

    Great first video. Welcome to Flosstube - I’m new too! Always wonderful to see the different ways people explore and engage with their craft of choice. Thread Stash is a great little app to help you keep track of your stash - good for knowing what you already have on hand or what you need to pick up (good for checking when you come across a destash or op shop!). I love that you're doing things different and cheap. I think it is nice to have block stitching for brainless stitching. Wow, your first finish is impressive! I love how you finished it!!! Holy cow, you've been stitching for a week and a half and already putting together different elements from different patterns. That's really impressive. For the project for your husband, try stitching the full length of the thread, just following the symbol before switching to the next color. That should help you from getting the blues mixed up or stitching over them in the back. I hope that makes sense. You can do it! That Christmas Wreath you shared is so cute! Good luck with the Craft Fair! Awesome first video and welcome to the Flosstube Community

Both, Vonna Pfeiffer, and Helen D, do great finishes and tutorials that are super helpful. MommaLovesYouGB is a great one from the UK. She features 1 or 2 free charts on most of her videos, and also does some nice projects and finishes that I think you'd like. Niecie Lynn is from Texas, and is so entertaining to listen to😆 along with having the "imperfect is perfectly fine" mindset. • @georgey5552
    @georgey5552 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Welcome!
    First suggestion I have for you is that you need to allow more fabric allowance around your projects. Using a tiny allowance will just make finishing your cross stitch projects more difficult. Typically you need to allow enough extra to wrap the extra fabric around to the back of your project. No one likes to waste cross stitch fabric but allowing extra (I usually leave 1.5 inches on each side) opens up your finishing opportunities. Since your Boo project that has such a tiny allowance you could sew fabric to each side. then you can put it in a frame, make a pillow, etc.
    Your fish WIP (Work In Progress) will be beautiful when finished. With patterns that have a lot of color changes, I will typically make biggish working copy and then work on one color (basically until I get a bit bored with it) and use a highlighter to mark of the stitches I've made. Then I'll work on a different color floss and mark those off using a different color pin. If you are consistent (at least within an area) of using the same color pen to mark off completed stitches, you can find your way around the stitched piece a little easier. There are many ways of keeping track and stitching multiple colors within a small area and I'm sure you will find one that works for you.
    You were correct, FFO means Fully Finished Object and FO means Finished Object (stitched but not yet made into a final project).

    Hi Kelsey! Great start! Very impressive for just learning. I’ve been stitching for a bazillion years😅. Look for free patterns on fat quarter shop. They have a lot. Most of us use from our stash if we can or choose our own colors. Also, if your piece doesn’t have a lot of border you can always add fabric to the sides and make it a pillow. Remember there’s no cross stitch “police”. Work at your own pace and enjoy the process! FFO…fully finished object:)

    Fabulous job on your first Flosstube. Your Mason jar finish is an official FFO (fully finished object). You might want to check how to reverse your image so the words are not backwards for your viewers and I predict you are going to have many viewers. Regarding your fish try using one color and fill in as many X’s as you can with one strand then add one at a time the other colors (does that make sense)? You are doing great! I always prep my Aida and pattern before I start to stitch. I make sure that my cloth has even rows on each side and then find the center. and then mark it with a black X . I then I take a strip of masking tape the length of my Aida and place it on one side and then fold it over to the other side. Now I count and mark every 10 count. I do this on all four sides. I also mark the pattern every 10. This will help you to keep your place.
    Another trick of the trade when working with thread is to always run your threads under the previous stitches that you are crossing. It will keep the back of your work nice and net. It will also eliminate a lumpy picture, when you go to frame.
    When working a larger picture work your project by only doing one section at a time. For instance, do 40 squares across and 40 squares down. This should give you a felling of accomplishment and eliminate most of your frustration.

    Welcome! Loved your mason jar lid finish.
    The 911 Stitcher often let's us know about free patterns from designers. Also, many designers offer freebies on their websites or blogs. Another good one is Arttie the Vintage Stitcher (she does a lot of thrifting to FFO projects)
    The lingo will come, it's like a foreign language whe you first start😁
    FFO = fully finished object (so your mason jar lid is an ffo)
    SAL = can also mean Stitch A-Long or Start A-Long

    Welcome! The one thing I have learned from floss tube and quilters, is that you are the boss of your own project! If you want to put something down , and start something new to keep your interest, then do it! We all have WIPS work in progress waiting to be picked up again. Love your ingenuity. You’re doing great! 🪡

    Hi Kelsey! Congratulations! You’re off to a great start. I loved your little haunted house. If you’d like some laughs, try watching Just Keep Stitchin’ with Pam and Steph. 911stitcher is also another great flosstube channel as well. Have fun stitching with whatever floss and fabric you choose.💕

    What is a Jenha block?

    • @Kelseyleeandthings
      @Kelseyleeandthings  ปีที่แล้ว

      Jenga is a game where you start with a tower of blocks and then each person takes turns removing blocks from the tower without knocking it over. If you remove a block and it makes the tower fall- you lose. You can buy this game at the dollar store and it comes with probably 30-40 wooden blocks. People use them a lot for different craft projects.

    Welcome to cross stitching!! When I was in my 20's I did alot of embroidery and then learned crossstitch and was hooked! Kids and life took over though and I didn't do much until last year and have been having fun relearning the craft. I am eager to follow you on this journey!

    Welcome! I really enjoyed watching, and I love being thrifty also. After not stitching for about 15 years I’ve jumped back in again recently. Excited to share your journey with you. A tip on your camera when recording ~ turn it sideways so it doesn’t cut you and your surroundings off . 😉💖. Most designers have free patterns on their sites. They are usually small, but offer practice for sure.

    Great 1st video! I’m with you on budget , I’m older and on Social Security so my budget is very limited! I search for “ freebies “ ! I also have some friends who share their charts after they stitch them and then I share with another friend! Just subscribed and look forward to more videos ! 😊 I love your little mason jar finish , very clever and so cute!

    I can’t understand how people get the money to buy all that unnecessary cross stitch stuff. I’m excited to be your 13th subscriber and look forward to seeing more of your Flosstubes.

    You said you were in Michigan. Arttie, the Vintage Stitcher is also from Michigan and she is a thrifty stitcher, crafter and finisher. She is many videos and I think you would really enjoy watching her if you haven't already. As a newbie stitcher we have all done the same thing and started either a large project or a complicated one for our first project because the picture is what attracts us to the craft. Your first video is good and I look forward to viewing your next one.

    Great job! I love that you are thirty and use what you have! I just started cross stitching this summer! One of my first projects was probably not the best for me but I am almost finished! It seems to me that if you just keep plugging along you will finish! I grew up in a small town in Michigan where I learned to craft and sew. Be proud of what made you who you are!🙂

    Welcome to cross stitch Kelsey! I did tons of cross stitching about 30 years ago and then I started doing other crafts and put my cross stitch away. This past year I was influenced by someone I follow that does paper crafting and she picked up cross stitch and started doing floss tubes. I am in love with it again. I have found that purchasing kits can be less expensive than purchasing things separately. You may also find things on FB swaps. I have kept all my books from 30 years ago but many people get rid of theirs after they stitch it so you may find some on marketplace. There are tons of free patterns out there. As for leaving the threads, I wouldn’t do that, I would just stop and start when you change colors. Every time I’ve tried that I end up with a mess on the back. I also recommend that you watch Vonna Pfieffer the Twisted Stitcher for finishing projects. She’s amazing. Hugs, have fun with this!
