I just bought this bike for my 15 y/o nefew. He's a big kid around 6'1 about 220. The bik came in and it's a pretty big bmx style bike. Exactly what I wanted for him. I assembled it and rode it, it was very smooth. He's excited to see it, I can't wait to give it to him
@thebikefam 🤣😂 your son made that bike look like a regular size BMX 😂. I'm 5'10, the bike is pretty big to me 😂. Perfect for my nephew. Thank you for the great review!
Thanks for the review. I ride MTB but for the price on the ongoing promotion I thought it would be nice to have one for the pump track. Got my borther to get one too LOL I wonder how big of an issue the floating bearings are vs sealed bearings... Great video!
I have weighed them both. The performer feels a lot heavier, but if I recall correctly, it was not actually actually a huge difference on the scale. I’m sorry I can’t remember the weights, but I’ll try and do it. The next chance I get.
Congratulations. It’s a great bike. As things wear out, just replace them. If you want to upgrade some parts, we did most things so far. Check out the other videos. Rides smooth, feels a lot more solid than an aluminum bike.
Thanks for the review. It is the most thorough available on TH-cam for this model performer. A couple of weeks in do you recommend it for the price? I am thinking of getting one.
He is very happy with it, and we’ve got a few things will be upgrading and uploaded in the next week. If you’re able to buy it in the next couple of hours, you can get one free when you buy one on GT’s website.
@@thebikefam thanks I just got the bike and I took it to the gas station to fill up air and noticed tires said 65 psi lol I was like there’s no way I can put 65
Yeah, I think I put 50 or so right off the bat, but it feels way better to me around 40. Some research online seem to indicate the ideal pressure for that tire was at 35 psi… I could be wrong, this is off the top of my head
Yes he had them on for a while, but they got in the way he said so he removed them. I think they must be in some of our videos when the bike was first assembled
A basic set of wrenches and Allen keys I think other than a pump. If you picked up one of those all purpose bike tools, and an adjustable Wrench, I think that’s all you would need.
I’m GT to the grave man I love this video so nice to see such a respectful humble kid and dad. I have a 2021 Maui blue performer myself full spec I love to see the community getting bigger Do you guys have instagram? And where are yall from?
Just ordered open item from City Grounds. $200 cheaper than GT website. I can't walk home from work, the pain all over my body is killing me. Plus there are some shady people in this drug infested town.
@@thebikefam it’s green. They still have some green open items on the city ground website for $299. Trying to out what tools I need to build it. Looks like Alan keys, pedal wrench, crescent wrench maybe? I got a pump that does either stem. I watched a video on here where the guy built a black one in front of his storage unit. Half the video he is standing between the camera on a tripod and the bike lol
@@thebikefam kid your dad has an awesome garage and setup. My dad never wanted kids and left when I was 3. Don’t end up like me, in and out of trouble.
That green color looks sick. I think those are the only tools you’re going to need. Just make sure everything’s properly tight and you should be rolling in no time. Thanks for watching.
I would love to say that it’s refreshing to see such a respectful kid. Props to pops… love GT Bikes

That’s awesome. He’s going to love it.
@thebikefam How tall are you, your bike is the 29" right?
In this video, we’re both 6 foot one. My son keeps growing.

Very nice Build! Awesome GT cruiser giving that Summer time 80's Vibe.😎👍🏾
Glad you like it!
Just got the blue one waiting on it to come now I can’t wait, all my other bikes are fixed so this will be dope for me
Nice!! Go over everything!
What a great kid. Grounded. Not wanting to rush out to his friends. Great job dad. GT forever!
Wow, thanks!
Damn dope bike. Dope video enjoy the ride. Thinking of buying another GT . Thanks
Thanks! We've done some upgrades, I'll try to get the new videos up by the weekend.
im gonna order one. great review
Thanks! We've got some upgrades coming up soon, check it out!
sweet bike man, love the blue.
Thank you!

It had a cartridge style factory, but either way - I can't imagine a pump track being more harsh than a trail for the most part. Its a fun bike!
Love this bike I think ima buy it !
Shoutout to city grounds I got my other bike and parts there 🎉
Thanks! We’re about to put a new sprocket on next!
@@thebikefam gonna have to upload the process and result . Most definitely gonna sub to you and watch when you post . Thanks boss
How has the bike held up since you bought it? I have heard people were having issues with the quality of the bike after a little abuse
So far so good…. Rode it every day until summer and no issues
@@thebikefam good deal, thanks for the info
I’m going to buy this since I like riding and I wanna do tricks and this seems perfect
Its a great bike. Can find them for $299 if you look.
What’s the weight of the pro series and the performer? my son has the performer and I’m thinking of the pro series

im getting this exact bike in 6 days for my birthday any pros and cons? and how much does it weigh

40 atm. Still experimenting.

Would this bike withstand aggressive riding??
He’s probably got about 100 miles on this one. All over town, learning to wheelie… I don’t know how aggressive you are talking, but so far so good.
Beautiful build sir….
Glad you like it!
can you put pegs on this bike?
Yes he had them on for a while, but they got in the way he said so he removed them. I think they must be in some of our videos when the bike was first assembled
@@thebikefam alr thanks
I just got this bike and im 5’5 and im scared its gonna be too big
Our 5’7” friend days you’ll be fine. 😎
Can you put pegs on this bike ?
You can. We had pegs on it for a time.
Hey what where the tools u used for this?
A basic set of wrenches and Allen keys I think other than a pump. If you picked up one of those all purpose bike tools, and an adjustable Wrench, I think that’s all you would need.
Where did you buy this GT from?
This one, we bought from City Grounds.
Love the bike not tryna hate but why buy the bike and can’t wheelie it
Mostly to get haters hatin’ 😎
It’s a real company not a scam. I’ve been scammed enough?
City Grounds? Yeah man I've bought like 4 bikes from them.
I had a 1984 one 😂
its a wheelie bike so do one 😂😂😂
Haha. My son is getting the hang of it. But its a BMX, IDK what a wheelie bike is! ;)
These new “BMX” bikes do absolutely nothing for me. An upgrade would be getting a 1985-1995 GT Performer in my opinion.
Will you send me one pls?
I'm sure those are easy to come by...

Hey buddy, thanks for your kind words. Maui blue is a beautiful color. Love it. We're out of the Palm Springs area, but no IG yet.

Flip it over if you don’t have a bike stand too that helps.
