- We're headed back to the Zone! Patrick Todoroff's STALKER/Roadside Picnic inspired adventure game now has some Solo Rules, so as we head back into Lockdown here in Ontario I give them a spin! My squad of Contractors find themselves looking to retrieve a Data Recorder from another lost Stalker team. What happened to them must have been gruesome however as even this Level 1 Zone area seems infested with twisted rad-zombies!

This game looks so fun. Prefer this skirmish and exploration style games over the large scale battles of other games.

Good stuff Ash. I really like this game. I think it’s a good compliment to Frostgrave. Maybe Osprey would consider an expanded hardcover reissue like they did with Gaslands.

I really want to like Zona Alfa but the rulebook could do with another go over in my opinion. Great video ash, love seeing all the solo stuff.

I am a bit surprised to see this game after a long break from Let's Play. But it is a welcome surprise.

Long breaks happen mostly because there’s always so many new game’s to explore. I’m pumped to be playing it again it’s a ton of fun!

Heh. That thing with sniper rifle with scope being hard to benefit from on a normal table crops up in Necromunda too. Their long-las/longrifle/sniper rifles all look crazy cheap and then you realize they'll almost never get a bonus to hit because LoS is almost never longer than short range for them - and a telescopic sight extends their short range bonus (which is zero) to long range, so utterly useless.

Ironically the original STALKER novel ‘Roadside Picnic’ is actually set in 1970s Canada... or at least what a Soviet underground author imagined 1970s Canada to be like!

When hostiles spawn they do get one movement action instantly correct? I’m looking at pg43.
Could anyone recommend a good place to get minis for this game? The solo aspect really interests me. I checked Anvil Industry but (unless I did it wrong) you have to "custom-build" the minis and I was a bit confused by all the options

i was always wondering how the 30% hardened fighter cost reduction for Idependents works...how do you calculate 30% off a hardened fighter that costs 3 Khrabost?
Pg 53. When hiring during a campaign. 2500 for hardened would be 1750.

Is there a way to give more wounds to your characters? In the advance section, they only mention the other stats.
Medkits are effectively another wound.

Can anyone explain (preferably with an example) how exactly skill checks work? The book is a bit confusing on this
I'm confused because it says low rolls are good and high rolls are bad but a detector or toolkit ADD to the skill check so I don't know what it means ...
After mods, you roll that number or lower. So if your skill is 5, rollin a 1-5 = success. If an equipment is +1 then the 5 becomes a 6, and now a 1-6 succeeds.
