Speed Painting a Zona Alfa Team - Simple Stalkers [How I Paint Things]

- Batch painting isn't just lining up a bunch of identical miniatures and painting the same colour in the same place over and over - just swap up where you're applying a colour and you can easily use a handful of paints to keep a uniform look to a rag-tag bunch of troublemakers. Cut down the amount of time thinking about what comes next by putting out a bunch of greens and browns on your painting table and don't think! Just grab one and go, go go go!

Oh, boy, those Stalkers look super cool. The paint job really compliments the sculpts. The Bakelite magazine really adds a pop to that mini.
They're such cool miniatures. It's great to see some of the lines coming out from sculptors and companies which match up with all manner of gaming ideas.

Anvil Industries is a real game breaker for the hobby, their minis are really inventive. As the solit another great tutorial, some ideas from these stalkers could be used for my Stargrave crews, they could pass also for SW explorers in a"Lost Civilization" story 👍😁

Hope you enjoy it! It's almost more of an RPG than a tabletop game, but that's a fun outing and a great excuse to paint something uncommon.

Awesome as always. And very useful to me: I'm starting to paint my Zona Alfa / Kontraband crew, though in my case I'll be using the awesome 1:72 scale minis by Dark Alliance (a Ukrainian brand, very appropriate!). I'll be using this as inspiration :)

Id love to see you check out the Army painter speed paints.
I've not got any plans to pick them up, I'm afraid. There's already dozens of reviews and comparisons on TH-cam, and as something that'd come out of my pocket I need to be a little more mindful these days about where I'm spending on hobby supplies. There's just too many reviews that mention the reactivation and bleedthrough trying to paint over them; as a consumer, I'll hold on to my pennies for the time being.

Nifty models, though they certainly go heavy on the "heroic" proportions. Not my style but power to those who like it!
Great work & makes me want to play Shadow of Chernobyl again, but the Guy with AK.... It is so out of scale IMO
Yeah, it's huge - same with most of the Anvil weapons. They're meant to be scaled for sci-fi and skirmish stuff so that they fit the universal sockets on the hands; it's not a perfect solution, but eh! They look cool.

Another great video sir. I would love to do these. I'm curious as to which bits you used from Anvil to construct these? I'm struggling to match the parts on the site to what I see in your vid.
Try 'survivor' as a search term - I'm pretty sure it brings up all the post-apocalypse stuff. There's also a pair of greatcoat legs to make one of the guys in the full jacket, but the guy with the slung rifle and pistol is the one part that's not available at present, I'm afraid. He was an early bird supporter reward for the Digital Forge on Patreon.

What parts did you use? Can't find everything myself on Anvil website or their Digital Forge.

Where did you get the torso/head for the stalker who has the tube connected to his gas mask? I can only find the female part that looks close to that in the Digital folder, was it modified?

They are! I got a big bag of corks from Amazon a couple years ago - finding a bottle with a cork in it these days, you might as well pay for the corks solo compared to how much you'd need to spend on five or six bottles of wine. 🤣

Great stuff! Which parts from Anvil did you use?
These are mostly the post apocalypse scavengers set with one set of greatcoat legs, and the bergens are a resin set of 10.

I'm really struggling to find some of these figures on Anvil Industries, as complete miniatures or parts. Has anyone got a working list of parts they could share please?
Does Anvil sell their STLs?
There's a pretty big range of STLs on their site, yeah. Most of them were first Patreon releases.
Me: Spends 7 hours trying to salvage the terrible face I've given my miniature, eventually giving up when it's passable as a background character
This guy: "And I'd say these took me about 2 hours including drying times, nothing special" while painting 2000 times my skill level
Do a little painting (almost) every day for twenty years or so, it'll help. 😅
