The Ed Sullivan Show was a television variety program that aired on CBS from 1948-1971. For 23 years it aired every Sunday night and played host to the world's greatest talents. The Ed Sullivan Show is well known for bringing rock n' roll music to the forefront of American culture through acts like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones. The entertainers each week ranged from comedians like Joan Rivers and Rodney Dangerfield, to Broadway stars Julie Andrews and Richard Burton, to pop singers such as Bobby Darin and Petula Clark. It also frequently featured stars of Motown such as The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5. The Ed Sullivan Show was one of the only places on American television where such a wide variety of popular culture was showcased and its legacy lives on to this day.

None of that lip-syncing stuff for these guys! This was a REAL band and they would do these TV shows and play live , not always the case back then. Best American band of the sixties and one of the greatest drummers ever in Dino Danelli! Rest in peace Dino. You are missed and respected.

I saw them twice and they were better in person than on recordings or videos. Their personalities were genuinely nice and sincere. No superstars here, just wonderful and talented people.
      Rest in peace, Dino.

She said, "I think it's 'You and me endlessly groovin'.'" This kind of thing happens every time Im trying to act cool.

  • @niceguy5015

I love this version of the song. The instrumentation is better than the recorded song and songs always sound at their best when Truly sung on the variety show stage.
I love the dancing girls and their shadows in the background which capture the spirit of this song and the gorgeous style of this era , the best decade of music in human history. It would be interesting to see who those dancers were but It’s probably all lost info so a mystery.
They also performed this song a 2nd time a few months later at the end of the summer in late September 67, and they used the same instrumentation but a different less interesting stage background and they only sang 1.45 worth and they didn’t sing it as good but ok enough. That 2nd performance is also here at this site.
Hence this video of their first performance of Groovin’ is the best one out of the two.

I remember watching the film clip made for this song in the 60's in black and white. It reflects a western Society disappearing fast into the boring torpidity of WEF controlled Dystopia.
