The new ring is stunning! It has an antique art nouveau look IMO. I think it's much better for inherited jewelry to be remade into a design that will be worn rather than sitting in a jewelry box where it won't be seen and appreciated. Thank you for sharing this video.
I'm appreciating my wedding ring so much more. I had no idea what goes into making a custom ring. Thank you for the great video, you are an amazing artist!
Wow - the asymmetry really works! Take a bunch of dated, 80s looking settings, and transfigure into 1920s revival. Would have loved to see a tapered cut over at the side, as well.
Wow. That coin edge makes all the difference to the design of this stunning ring. Just amazing. I have recently had a ring remade into a toi et moi style with a Paraiba coloured tourmaline and Padparascha sapphire. I just adore my ring, and seeing your ‘behind the scenes’ videos makes me appreciate it even more.
@@zachemighjewelry I value craftsmanship. You are very talented. Most of all you are emotionally invested into to creations and can feel profoundly your poor your heart and soul into your work. It is a beautiful way to be . We need more people like you.
Love the attention to detail, it separates the crap form the quality which clearly your work is. The end piece is remarkable and gives us a new appreciation for quality jewellery making 💙
Beautiful, love watching what it takes to accomplish something we all love and don’t realize the craftsmanship and talent it takes. Really enjoy your videos.
I love this, I have a ring my mom left me it's is very special my son got engaged I took out the center stone. He made a gorgeous ring for her smaller diamonds but bigger history. She loves it,she I'm thrilled to say. Now I have the ring minus a center stone I have a blue Ceylon sapphire I think could fit, the rest of the stones are small diamonds and three birth stones. I'd like to put diamonds or the birth stones but cost and fear are holding me up. Afraid to ask when I see how much work goes in to it!! This is eye opening.
@@zachemighjewelry I love jewelry and have a pretty eclectic collection from pins that were popular in the 50's. I recently wore my aunts pin a circle of white crystals in silver tone. I put the single pin on one shoe cross cross. It looks really fresh. I love to design but I can only make the simpler jewelry watching a professional is like I said eye opening. Thank you I'm definitely going to keep watching.
Lovely. I often wonder what to do with inherited stones of different karat sizes. I worry the results will be a jumbled up mess, but you've proven otherwise.😊
Beautiful, that is the kind of ring you wear daily and hold your hand out to admire. The warm memories flood your heart ❤️ 21 years ago I inherited a handcrafted ring with a beautiful periwinkle blue round stone. 2 jewelers in Denver said it was a stone I had never heard of, 8 carat Spinel. One offered me $500.00. I love the hand crafted band but it is wearing thin. Is it worth having a new setting?
Stunned by your skill once again! What a stunning ring! Im a sucker for that art deco mile grain detail, it has charm like nothing else, especially when coupled with bezel set diamonds!! Chef's kiss to your craftsmanship, artistic eye and talented work 👌🏾❤️ I'm sure the lady was blown away by her new ring. Ps.. I so wish you were in the UK.. (I'd have you tortured) 😂
Interesting and a beautiful result ! Love-it! ...and I will keep in mind that one could contact you. I would have wished on minute 4:49 to have a glimpse of you diamond ring. Maybe another time ? ; ). thanks for sharing !
I have an antique ring with 3 high-quality diamonds that was made before laser engraving. If I pull them out and place them in a more updated setting, will they still be discernible as natural diamonds?
Thank you so much! Big custom projects like this with a lot of detailed setting work typically take me several weeks time to complete (They take especially long when I’m filming them😅). I’m sure to take my time and do my best to make them perfect. The main reason they take so long is because I have a full service retail store and we have a lot of projects coming in daily that need completed. So I will do a little work on one project, and then go give other projects attention. Hope that makes sense!👍
@@zachemighjewelry Thanks for your detailed explanation. I always wondered about the length of time involved. I absolutely love your work. It would be well worth the wait. 💙
The ring is beautiful, you did such a nice job on it. It's crazy I have an antique ring that's almost like it. But mine has diamonds all the way around it Kind of like a buckle. The diamonds go from in the center start of large like yours and taper down like yours but more diamonds. It's also in white gold. But very similar. 😊 I love watching you make jewelry. ❤
How would I find someone reputable enough to transform old wedding rings into something new. I would worry that someone would swap out the real diamonds for glass. Your final ring was beautiful. It doesn't make sense to keep old wedding rings that will never get worn.
The “swapping stones” concern is a old wives tale. No Jeweler is going to risk their business over a gemstone. If I were you, I would check google reviews for your local jewelers and find someone who does their work on-site👍
I have heard of that happening but again as he said you have to check reputation such as how long in business, any BBB complaints and check reviews.. We use to have a small jewelry in our town… She designed and sold jewelry.. She did beautiful work.. But in a small town she just couldn’t a long term go of it.. She took my Mom’s old diamond. A vintage wedding band and completely designed a new ring for my DIL.. It is gorgeous!!
It's a lot of work to re-create as you have done and you did a great job. Personally, I liked the old rings but didn't care for the design of the new one. I am sure the person who got the new ring loved it though, as we all have different tastes in design. I seem to go more for the symmetrical designs being a Libra. I like the balance.
Depends on if the customer has old gold to trade in… this project she kept her original rings so that cut down the price because she didn’t need to buy new rings. If you get them remounted into a new ring it will usually be at least $1,000 I’d say
This reminds of that show “How it’s Made”. I love how you explain the science behind this art form. Very interesting. ❤
