    4) I am happy inasmuch as I passed.

    Teacher
    A teacher taught the passive with the gerund online. But, the way he converted the active voice into the passive voice was not digestive.
    See his examples:
    He likes teaching. Active voice
    He turned the sentence into the passive the following way:
    He likes being taught.
    How? In the active sentence, he acts as a teacher. While in his passive voice, he turns himself as a learner.
    I suggest he should gave frames the sentence the following way:
    He likes the students being taught. This sentence fulfils his wish of teaching.
    I await your clarification.
    Regards
    Hyderabad - India

    • @BreakingEnglish
      @BreakingEnglish  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, the second one the teacher gave is in passive voice but it isn't necessarily the passive voice form of the entire sentence before it. To really do that would mean inverting subject and object and changing the verb form. Maybe the teacher was just showing how the verb in the original sentence could become a gerund passive. Your sentence was also correct

  • @mohitnegi9080

    She is happy about having passed.
    She is happy to have passed
    Is this both correct mam?

    • @yadayadajmr1
      @yadayadajmr1 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hello, Mohit, yes, these are both correct. The difference is this that when you use a preposition after any adjective, you must use a gerund, but when you do not use a preposition after an adjective, you will need to use an infinitive form of a verb. That is because after adjectives, you usually will need the infinitive form of a verb. Again, that is unless you have a preposition after that adjective. Prepositions always require a gerund form of a verb after them.

    Perfect Gerund perfect infinitive perfect participle
    Though I know how to use all three.
    If I want to to explain the three in a very simple language in a few sentences how to explain them ?
    2) Could you also make the same sentence in these three forms ?

    I am thankful for the wonderful class. But I have a doubt here. Let me know the following sentence is correct or not.. " Now this is what this video is about to teach you how to do this" here, about to teach you or about teaching you " i would not have this doubt if i had not learned your lesson. Please let me know which is correct. If " About to teach" is correct, tell me how it is correct. I will be thankful for your kindness.

    • @BreakingEnglish
      @BreakingEnglish  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      "ABOUT to teach" is correct. This is a way to show future intention for something that is going to happen right away. "I'm about to go to bed" is something you can say while getting ready for bed, for example

    What’s the rule of this form of sentence vis-a-vis gerund?
    Grateful for your assistance, please.

      I might be wrong but this is a form of Gerund. "To" comes in infinitives sentence but looking forward to meeting you, "forward to" is phrasal verb which is used over here. This teacher can tell you much better otherwise.

      Sheila suggested seeing a movie after work.
      Mam, doubt is coming, that gerund always uses when the action happens suddenly...and infinitive when the action is to happen.. (To see a movie this action is going to happen but in my book the correct answer is (Sheila suggested seeing a movie after work ) may I know a reason why infinitive should not have been there.....
