- The Nissan GTR was introduced in 2008 with a theoretical top speed of 196 mph and a 0-60 mph time of 3.2 seconds. The Nissan GTR later coined "Godzilla" boasted some of the most impressive specifications to be released in the late 2000's era. For $80,000 you were given neck braking 0-60 mph times and a theoretical top speed of nearly 200 mph. Even Italian auto makers had a hard time keeping up with. For example in 2006 for $1,700,000 you could buy a Bugatti Veyron which went 0-60 mph in 2.7 seconds. So for 20X the cost you could go 0-60 mph in half a second faster...
In this video you will see a highly modified 2013 Nissan GTR make a test pass on the 2.7 mile stretch of concrete. The GTR hits 115 mph at the 1,000 ft mark and keeps pushing all the way down the runway. I use the word pushing because of the lack of aerodynamics on the vehicle. The GTR boasts a massive surface area that hinders its top speed tremendously. A good example to reference is the Lamborghini Huracan. The Huracan with 200 less horsepower hits the same miles per hour as the Nissan GTR.

@Johnny Bohmer Proving Grounds The Nissan GTR is supposed to have a C.D. of around 0.27 or so stock...much better than any production Lambo or Ferrari or anything like that...a lot of times what looks slickest to the eye is not so in reality....The Lambo Countach says Hi ! I need to watch the vid again but...alright that white GTR looks pretty clean from the outside no big wings or diffusers/splitters....close to factory aero ?...if not ?

I stand corrected. The 2013 Nissan GTR has a Drag Coefficient of 0.26 making it one of, if not the slipperiest production sports car in the world...Google for yourselves....all this top speed stuff is very interesting to me. I try to separate the truth from the BS so if what nissan is claiming is true...Then it's not aero holding this car back, it's power, and or gearing.
I have been doing this for a long time and have been amazed how cars with great aero specs quite often dont move as well as other cars in the same power range with worse aero on paper. This is why so many OEM's come to the Johnny Bohmer Proving Grounds because at the end of the day all the wind tunnel testing,modeling programs seem to fall short in the real world. We have engineers testing here from major race teams as well and when they leave this facility they are 'race ready' and usually find at least 2-3% discrepancy from the tunnel and modeling programs. So dont always believe what you read regarding vehicle specs, I believe this is why we see these differences your mentioning. Thanks JB

@@JohnnyBohmerProvingGroundsSLF So what's your opinion about the McLaren F1 supposedly doing 231-241 with 627hp. Apparently all the tested production cars have never tested over 211-217mph (something around there) I find it funny that modern cars with more power,(in the 6-700hp range) barely go faster than 211-217. Do you think McLaren was BS-ing us with those numbers...It's not really possible for a production car to do 241 with 627hp (guessing that's engine, not at the wheels) The 720s has around 690hp at the wheels and beats every other production car except the hyper cars. What do you think the 720s is capable of without any kind of limiter ? I ask because people in the comments stated that it was limited. Lastly what cars have you tested that you personally feel were capable of more, either given a longer road or had the limiter removed ?
@@xfiazc07 We love doing this, our channel is fairly new so maybe it will catch on soon, we continually see inconsistency from all the manufactures. The aero should be pretty straight forward but many factors such as an auto trans etc. can affect the top speed. thanks JB

What a ridiculous claim to knowledge your description is lol “lack of aerodynamics”
The GTR is GEARING limited to around 197mph. Tire pressures/sizes and possibly slightly increased limiter allowed it to get to the top speed displayed here. The Cd of a GTR is around 0.27-0.28 and your beloved Huracan is 0.38-0.39. I’d expect better from a company involved in this industry than spreading silly misinformation 🤦🏻♂️
