Using a wordless book in the classroom

Five wordless books are included at the beginning of PM Magenta. These books are designed to develop the oral literacy skills of beginner readers, as well as encouraging students to retell stories and describe factual events.
The text type of The monarch butterfly is a description, and the purpose is to articulate ideas clearly and logically. The book describes the life-cycle of a monarch butterfly from an egg to the butterfly.
