I did not bat an eye at Horus heresy for 28/32mm scale. But this box has my attention, entirely because it will allow the large scale conflicts a play during the Heresy to be more accurately represented on the game table. And if it ultimately leads to 40k Armies at this scale, I'm certainly not going to complain.
Plague tower of nurgle comes out, im in, as it stands itsa good try, but not "epic" without other factions just blue on blue like 30k, painted and sold both armies for that before even having a game, to be fair i think my love of overpriced plastic is dead
I'm so friggin happy cause I can't paint good Warhammer mini's but I can paint decent little mini's like the size of risk minis so EPIC is beautiful for me
I have mixed feelings. I have been wanting GW to revive Epic for at least 17 years. So I am excited for it, however my first reaction was shock that they are actually doing it, as I had concluded that they never would after Titanicus started to die off. I would much rather the 40k setting for its variety, but HH will do, for now. If they had done it a few years ago I would have thrown a lot of money at it, but as I have been 3d printing for two years, and have already printed and painted models would proxy seamlessly with this setting, I am much more hesitant.
That's fair enough. Hopefully they talk more about the long-term support for the game so that people feel confident investing in it - otherwise, as you say, some might look elsewhere. 🙂
The original Epic was set in the Heresy. So its a starting point. If this doesn't sell well, you'll never see an expansion into the xenos races. It feels like they are testing the waters. Titanicus is a great game, but it's really not on the mainstream radar. It lives on the Specialist games side like Battlefleet Gothic did, also a great game. Hopefully, it doesn't trickle down an get abandoned. Time will tell. Gw certainly has a mixed track record there.
Sorry. A request, if I may...? Guys, can anyone tell me if the Adeptus Titanicus and Legiones Imperialis scale is...comparable with that of Dropzone Commander from Hawk Games? Thanks.
Dropzone is 6mm right? Titanicus, Imperialis, and Aeronautica are roughly 8mm, so a bit bigger. Edit: Correction think dropzone is actually 10mm, so terrain will be a little big, but the cityscape will probably work well
I’m really excited. Ever since I heard about epic I wanted to play it but I got into the hobby too late. I am a little concerned about how I will be able to paint the models when I can barely paint the larger ones but I’ll cross that bridge when I get to it.
Contrast paints might come into their own here. If seeing fine details in the models is an issue, places like Hobbycraft sell headsets with magnification lenses and led lights.
It's easy. Basecoat, wash, optional drybrush, done. The models are so small that edge highlighting is right out. Unlike 28mm scale, the spectacle isn't in the models themselves but the mass of the models together.
8mm is too big. They should stick to 6mm. Good luck finding any 8mm terrain. Also Epic armegeddon is GW's best rule set I suspect they will butcher it.
Pretty much all the 6mm printers do 8mm too so I wouldn't expect it to be hard to fill a table, generally cheaper than cast stuff too, plenty of it on Etsy.

Same - any Epic is better than none and, if it does well, they'll naturally wonder whether there's more money in Epic 40k. 😄

Yeah, I agree - sales will shape it’s future more than anything else.

The GW realized the price their product was the problem and sized model.their model to big and hard to storage.
