You are correct! Good spot. I thought it worked the same as 10th edition 40k where 0 OC meant nobody controlled it at all but yes, In Legions Imperialis the mere presence of a model captures an uncontested objective regardless of Tactical Strength
With the rules as written, the Alpha Legion is the must have meta winning tournament list. Watching a battle between two opponents both playing Alpha Legion forces would be quite interesting. That being said, the Alpha Legion special trait will be nurfed as it is insanely powerful.
I'm guessing you don't understand what meta means. Really seems like you watched a couple of youtube videos and suddenly you understand the future of the game..
If only. I am still waiting for the nurf. Your prediction turned out to be entirely accurate. Alpha Legion has been proven to be top tier. And is no fun to play against either.
I don’t think you can pull the 1 rhino shenanigans. Page 129, “A detachment must purchase the minimum number of dedicated transports needed to carry all models within the detachment. It cannot purchase fewer, nor can purchase more than necessary.”
That's is correct, however, I believe you can 1: legally purchase it for the command squad since it attaching to something doesn't happen until game setup and 2: The Demi-company just has 2 "transport" sections not necessarily dedicated transports. That one I could be wrong on but of course I get Covid right after I upload these so I'm not in a good state to check 😅
@@SalemtheAmateuryeah your right, rules as written, the command squad is its own detachment. The transport detachment is a little more confusing. Does This mean rhinos are free as dedicated transports but 10pts as a transport detachment (limited to 8)? 🤔
Wow actually yeah I hadn't noticed that before. Because it specifically lists the cost of the dedicated transports in the Aerial Detachment but not in the Demi-company. I wonder if we'll get an FAQ on that.@@christopherm4510
Yeah, I was wondering that myself. There are some drawbacks for taking them as dedicated transports which could offset the costs, like they don’t count towards break point and I don’t think they’d get heart of the legion either. Will probably have to contact GW rules to get a clarification.
The transport detachment is confusing. As I understand it, there are two ways to buy transports. (1) Dedicated transports are bought for a detachment. In this case, you buy exactly enough (Rhinos) to transport the entire detachment, but they dont count to the size of the detachment. (2) You can buy a 'transport pool' detachment. Here, you can buy as many transport vehicles as you want to pay for, and they can be used to transport other detachments IF they have enough capacity to carry them all. You can even buy spares. Think of it for when Land Raiders are introduced. In that case, Terminators cant get dedicated transports, but you can buy Land Raiders as transports and use these to bus around any detachment in the formation.
Honestly for casual games I would just see if me and my opponent would agree to use our entire armies. Because the allied faction rules are kinda crap.
Even as someone about to start painting up Alpha Legion I think their legion rule is a bit busted, but its on par with Raven Guard and Pioneer Legion, so mass Infiltrate is the issue. I'll probably house rule it to something like only deploying in my half of the board if it proves too problematic, but even then I think its still very strong.
If only the titans had specific Legio rules from Adeptus Titanicus. Legio Tempestus (Storm Lords) can combat drop their warhounds, which is basically an outflank move, if I recall.
Yes. Having played a fair bit of LI now this gets real stale real quick. You either get everyone taking all alpha legion or pioneer companies. Makes the game super boring when playing competitively - we just house rule around it so we get more flavorful story driven gameplay.
@@kalfoxx7749 Even as someone just starting to paint up alpha legion I could easily see how powerful their rule is and immediately suggested to my mates who have large collections (that aren't alpha legion) that we house rule it. What house rule has worked for you ? I was thinking restricting infiltration to your own half of the board, do think that works (hits both raven guard, pioneer and alpha) ?
I mistake. The warhound CAN capture objectives. Tactical strength of 0 means it cannot CONTEST objectives.

Those extra command squad marines found their role - they are all over my titan bases :D
I am sure my therapist would love hearing about the "experience" of playing that list.

The ability to perfectly place artillery once indirect fire weapons release shall be glorious

I would be very interested in hearing your experience with Alpha Legion after all this time. Still got friends?
First to legion sized collection wins.
Make solar auxilia army list please
Once I recover from Covid you got it 👍
For the Emperor! Vive l'Empereur!
Hydra Dominatus Brothers... We are the best Legion, and our rules reflect as such

I recommend everyone do what I did and get a bunch of the reinforcement boxes 😃
Hilarious? Maybe once …
