Followed your advice from a previous video and tied on a squarebill for fall Smallies. And on my first cast, I connected with a 3 lb smallie. I caught one more on the crank, and I know you said to keep color simple, so I did not change it up and I am thinking maybe I should have just to see... That said, the spinnerbait was the deal. There was a little chop on the water and water temps were 62, so the fish were eating. They seemed to be up shallow in really rocky shoreline, which was perfect for the spinnerbait since you can fish it in a foot of water. I tried swimbaits, wobblehead and topwater, but the spinnerbait seemed to be the deal. Love the content. Keep it coming.
That’s amazing! The switch up the the spinnerbait sounds like it was the move. To me, making that adjustment because it feels right is the best feeling in fishing. Connecting with past experiences to make an adjustment that works out to hammer fish. It’s the hardest thing to teach in fishing, but the most rewarding part of spending more time on the water
This is exactly how I came across my biggest small mouth yet last week. Wind blown point casting into the chaos but cranking hard through the calm. square bill 1.5. Good info man.
I love it! Shallow cranking can be so deadly this time of year, and those points can be one of the best areas to make it happen. Thanks for sharing Marcus

😁
Good stuff - sometime talk about calm winds and cloudy skies.
Great idea :-) I’ll add that to the list. You want in general, or during fall? Thanks Alan
Excellent job ben thanks again
Thank you so much Neil
Thank you Ben
Thanks for watching!
My biggest mess up i feel in the fall is stopping to take a photo. If i just toss it back and get back to it i can really work the school compared to catching maybe one or two more.
Dude this is also SO true. Livewell the good one you want for a pic for 10 min and keep hammering. Take pics when the flurry is over
Thank you Ben, I wish my area of Massachusetts had bigger Smallmouth,a 2-3 lb Smallmouth is a decent fish
I’m a big believer in a big fish being relative to the lake/area you’re fishing. I’m lucky to have 5+ as big fish, but I gotta keep in mind it’s not right to compare to Idaho/Oregon/WA 7-9lbers because they just don’t regularly swim here yet
Where are you in mass? I’ve caught 5lbers all around the state

Tips if it's dead calm and not a cloud in the sky?
Slow slow slow and use stealth. Long casts to isolated pieces of cover. Fish will push up onto the shallow flats
