If someone needs to move some money then they’ll purchase a painting for an extravagant price. Hence money laundering. Art, if your lucky to be invited, is a certain group of people. They determine the value of your art. So naturally, they need their cut too. Want to avoid taxes? Make a deal and you can hide that money in a piece of art. All you have to do is pay point’s.

Another aspect that just now occurs to me is that the comparatively high interest in art by rappers could be somehow linked to hiphops roots in graffiti culture. A lot of the art Wes has on display looks more like graffiti than anything. I'm sure someone wrote an interesting thesis on that at some point.
