Well my back up didn't work exactly to plan either;( well it did but I lost footage. Just realized that too! Now I just need to figure out how to peice together what I do have🤦♀️
Hi Mary! Love love love your technique, design style and tutorials!! I’m a brand new baker/cake artist. Are there any tips you can share? Things I should focus on first? Thank you!
Beautiful, Mary! Love the colors! Hey, I have a request. Would it be possible for you to do a video decorating a cake iced with chocolate buttercream? Sometimes I feel stuck on what to do to decorate on all that brown background. 🤔😕
Can you tell me where you get your food safe florist tape from, please? We use posy picks or straws in the UK as a kind of mini vase because florist tape/wires are absolutely not food safe and must not be placed directly into a cake.
Maybe the regulations are different in the USA as I was cringing watching those artificial flowers/foliage being pushed directly into the cake! It’s a beautiful design though, but I’ll definitely be using posy picks!
Thank you! I use an American Buttercream. There is a link to the video on how I make it on the upper right corner of the video. I try to link that where I am first using the buttercream.
Hey Mary…I decided to watch this video again to remind myself how to add that texture to the buttercream. Then, after watching, I realized that I couldn’t remember if, when the display base that your cake will be sitting on is quite a bit larger than the bottom tier (like an 8” bottom tier sitting on a 12” display board), should that bottom tier be placed directly on the display board or first on an 8” board, then taped or glued to the display board?
Well it is hard to say for your area because it is different everywhere. Where I am I would charge about $65. It is a smaller cake but tall. So I would say about 20 servings. You can get twice as many out of a double barrel if it is cut right.
I am in loved with your blessed talented. Thanks for sharing. I am learn a lot with you. I am a beginner. I have my first order this week I am so freaking nervous. I would like your advice. I am doing a lemon cake for birthday party and I want to do a modern decoration. Which colors I should use . I want do a marble decoration. For tge top I thinking use a rice piper or tuile. What is your advice. Thanks in advance
Hi! I am so sorry I just saw this! I hope I am not too late! I am sure you figured things out if I am. But I would have to ask you some questions. Did the customer request any specific decorations? What is the ocassion?
Hi Mary! Thank you so much for sharing your techniques. I had a problem with the buttercream though...after firming up in fridge, I put the 2nd color on top as you have shown and scraped it off. This scraping caused the blue buttercream to change into a darker blue and came out like streaks on areas where the buttercream was touched. What can I do to prevent that from happening? Please help 🙏
I find that that typically happens if you scrape down to the first layer of buttercream in some places. It has happened to me too:) So I would just say to maybe add a little thicker layer with the second coat and try not to scrape too much. I have better luck if I try not to over work it. I hope this helps and know that it just happens some times.
That can be a little tricky. You can airbrush it but it can warp the paper a bit. You could also dilute food coloring and add water then brush it lightly onto the paper. Be careful not to oversaturate it for the same reason as before. Or you can dry brush petal dust or luster dust on to it. None of these will give you a deep color. But I hear you can order precolored paper. I have not looked into that yet, but that might be an option?
Just an update to the audio i was talking about before. I checked my iphone 8+ and updated it to ios15. Watch your video again and bamm! Audio is perfect. #youtube
Wow thats beautiful Mary !! What brand makes that blue food coloring ?? I need to find that blue! 💙 And do you know what piping tip number the french tip is that you used ?
Mary, this is so beautiful. Can you tell me where you got the sprinkle mix? It is gorgeous! And also where did you get the plastic scraper? And.........I was so into watching the folding of the paper, and then I glanced down and all I saw was "dead body". My mind was like "what the hell is a dead body doing with this video?" Then I read the whole thing. Then I looked at the robe. Seriously. You had me going for like a few seconds. "drama, mystery, suspense!"
OOH sorry!!!! That is funny though:)I got the sprinkle mix at Micheals supply store. Do you have those down there? THey have a whole new line of cake decorating supplies now.
I think its #youtube but the audio keeps on dropping out. It happens with the ad audio as well. I always love your cakes decorating. And still can’t get over that you have the same voice as #selenagomez. Keep safe always.

Beautiful cake, what type frosting did you use?
I use a crusting American for most of my cakes, but this could be done with a Swiss or Italian meringue also.

It is never too late. Because I can always use your advice for another cake. It was for a party and the person didn’t chose the decoration.
Wow so lovely.
Please What's your buttercream recipe, mine is not as smooth & pliable as yours.

Very nice
Is it rice paper or wafer paper??
She said "rice paper" .
It looks like wafer paper, rice paper is shinier (see-through) and brittle when dry
@@sm-ed3kw yes that’s what I mean
It’s wafer paper, it seems Mary did a mistake accidentally
Yes I did say rice paper when I meant wafer paper;) sorry:(
I tried to add text to the video to correct that, but maybe that didn't work.
Beutiful mam

Hi Mary, thanks for this video. How can I color the wafer paper?

What is the size of the cake please?
This was a 3 layer 6"
Are those flowers real?
No they are not;( I prefer to do edible or fresh, but time and $ make artificial a better option most of the time.
Gorgeous!!! Do you have an IG or Facebook page ?
Thanks! I do;) I don't post much on Facebook anymore, but I do on Instagram.
