I’ve been playing a historic mono red treasure deck. Excited to watch this when I get home. Watching the deck break down on break, and I’ll finish when I get home.
This was one of my favorite decks! I made something similar in both Standard and Alchemy. I used Sticky Fingers over Riveteers Requisitioner. I also had Magda plus a one-of copy of Maskwood Nexus (on Dwarves) for an occasional game with silly amounts of treasures. Magda is super fragile but I think she's worth it possibly grabbing you either more Goldspans or my favorite finisher: Inferno of Star Mounts. Having Goldspan + Inferno allowed me to steal a win in a stalemate a few times against some huge (sometimes life-linking) blocker by pumping Inferno to 20 with Goldspan's/Magda's/Fable's mid-combat treasures. In my Alchemy version I used a Swashbuckler Extraordinaire to give Double-Strike for twice the treasures from Facebreaker in case I didn't have Goldhound. I also used Carnelian Orb of Dragonkind for haste and Ancient Copper Dragon to really push the dragon theme. The rare instance of a Double-Striking Ancient Copper Dragon was hilarious to play out. This wouldn't have helped much but in your second-to-last game against Rakdos Midrange you had just enough mana after combat at 47:20 to cast Shatterskull Smashing x=4 for the Goldspan which might've given you another turn to find an answer. Another really cool line in your following turn at 49:00 is to copy Bloodthirsty Adversary with Reflection of KikiJiki which can flashback some of your burn spells to clear out blockers but I think you only had one copy of Play with Fire in your graveyard at that time so this wouldn't have worked. Love your stuff!
There's definitely power creep, but I think it's a combination of two other things as well. Just the game making creatures the focus as well as how we've all learned to play MTG better over the year. Jackal Pup was definitely a product of its time, but that time was short lived. :)
I just built this and altered it a little to fit what I already had, some finishers that seem pretty sweet are dragonspark reactor and crackle with power. First game I played against angels and was able to cast Crackle for X=2 and finish him off. Overall, I love the decklist!
red deck wins!
That it did.

Jackal pup was great back in the day....creature power creep over the years is wild.

Cool deck. I’ve seen these cards but never as pure mono red 😂
Glad you liked it :)
