Rest in peace and 81st birthday wishes to Curtis Mayfield 6. 3 We are grateful for this pure musicians legacy. The soundtrack of Superfly and Sparkle are just part of his superlative work. We must recognize and enjoy

This is conscious music with deep meaningful messages. LOve Curtis....wish I could have caught him in concert when He was alive.....Man this sounds good and no....they don't make music like this anymore. Move on UP!!!
Oh My God This percussionist is The Bomb!!!👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼😘🎵 They’re All Fine Musicians. Rest In Heavenly Peace Curtis Mayfield, forever Missed & Loved.🎵🙏🏼🎼🎸🥁🎤🎹
The percussionist is Master Henry Gipson.. He is my Uncle.. my mother's oldest brother... Him and Curtis is jamming in heaven or they both raising hell bout to get kick out for partying like Rock Stars 🤣😅 🤣😂Trust me
Sounds good but it makes attempting to isolate the drum track a royal pain. The app will take both the drums and all other precussion instruments and lump them in one track. Trying to figure out if tom toms are being played with the conga's going is hard core. Here is a track where you dont even hear the conga's until you isolate the drum track. th-cam.com/video/hj1ZlHsBwIM/w-d-xo.html
Curtis Mayfield (June 3, 1942 -- December 26, 1999) was an American soul, funk, and R&B singer, songwriter, and record producer best known for his anthemic music with The Impressions and composing the soundtrack to the blaxploitation film Superfly. From these works and others, he was highly regarded as a pioneer of funk and of politically conscious African-American music.[1][2] He was also a multi-instrumentalist who played the guitar, bass, piano, saxophone, and drums. R.I.P
To this day one of my all time favorites.Takes me back to a time of really well written music. What a timeless masterpiece Curtis left us. Can't listen to this song and not feel good.Vaya
I hope the person yelling their lungs out at 7:30 wasn't hurt! What a break down!!! Ive watched this video over 50 times in the last year... must of kept me alive through this madness. Peace To Everybody... especially the new generation, those who are younger than myself(36YO). Peace n Love
Mayfield took the Hollywood Blacksploitation film industry of the early 70's and laid a soundtrack over it to inspire people with a positive spiritual message instead of the bleakness of the inner city ghetto depicted in the films. A legend.
Curtis is kicking some behinds in this song, funk is all over the place and it just grooves and grooves!! not to mention that percussionist is out of sight.
Where have you been? I'm a couple years younger than Curtis, been listening to his music since his early days with the Impressions when Jerry Butler was with the group. Curtis was never underrated in fact it was the opposite! Even when he wrote music for other artists you knew who had written it by the unmissable poetry that was his unique style and calling card. Long before Superfly and Claudine, Curtis had already cemented his place in music history! So, no you're way off track with your assessment!
The opening statement made by the brother that get ready for the king, Curtis Mayfield! oen of the most inspirational musicians to walk the planet. Great stuff! He is truly missed.
I`m so happy that I got a chance to jam with Master Henry Gibson that is playing the various percussion here for Curtis Mayfield. We have all lost these two Great people. Every week I think of them. I`m a 64 year-old white guy who plays bass guitar. These are people that gave me the urge to stay alive.Keep on pushing all You BLM people out there !
was there in 87 , I think still one of the best parkpop performances I've seen , didn't knew curtis mayfield back then , after the concert bought cd's and still play them and love his music

This is golden! I would have loved to see him perform. All I remember was him after the accident, so this was a nice reminder of what a truly awesome musician & performer he was. And the guy on the conga drums is killing it!
Great song! with a good message. The conga percussion guy is really good to. I liked how Curtis used percussion in his songs. I think Curtis may have still be alive today if the stage wouldn't have fell on top of him.
Curtis Mayfield was the best. He would entertain you with his incredible grooves and compositions. He is very engaging... He would have conversations with you, feed your mind and raises your awareness of things going on around you. Rest In Peace, CURTIS.

The tickets were $5 - what a steal!!!. Curtis Mayfield was a certifed musical genius. His lyrical and rhythmic talents were and are unmatched.
I can’t help noticing that there aren’t any comments since the last U.S. elections. Well-I’m kinda speechless too. All I can say is to stay calm, carry on, and keep working for peace. Talk to your brother and sister-even if they turn away. But don’t give up on each other.

I know that 'killing' is supposed to mean something else but it's not a great word to describe this kind of music.
Believe that's Henry Gibson on percussion. Longtime percussion player with Mayfield. Soooooo good
The man!
Inspirational music with a strong political undertone.
父とほぼ同い年なんですね。とても素適です。カッコイイです。彼の音楽に今の時代に出会えてよかった。どうもありがとうございます。🎶👂💘👍💐🙏

WOW @4:02- 5:08---"Master"Henry Gibson >>Hush now child
And don't you cry
Your folks might understand you
By and by
Just move on up
Towards your destination
Though you may find, from time to time
Complication
Bite your lip
And take a trip
Though there may be wet road ahead
And you cannot slip
Just move on up
For peace you will find
Into the steeple of beautiful people
Where there's only one kind
So hush now, child
And don't you cry
Your folks might understand you
By and by
Move on up
And keep on wishin'
Remember your dream is your only scheme
So keep on pushin'
Take nothing less
Than the supreme best
Do not obey rumors people say
'Cause you can pass the test
Just move on up
To a greater day
With just a little faith, if you put your mind to it
You can surely do it
Thank You so much R.R. Rubin for posting the lyrics.
