The Maharajas of Patiala were the rulers of the princely state of Patiala, a state in British India. They belonged to the Sidhu Jat clan. The first Maharaja of Patiala was Baba Ala Singh, who founded the state in 1761 after defeating the Mughals. He was a loyal ally of the Sikh Confederacy and the Afghans.
The history of Patiala is closely linked with the history of Punjab and the Sikh religion. Patiala was one of the most prosperous and influential states in Punjab, with a rich cultural heritage and a strong military tradition. Patiala was known for its architecture, art, music, literature, sports, and education. Some of the famous landmarks of Patiala are the Qila Mubarak, the Moti Bagh Palace, the Sheesh Mahal, and the Baradari Gardens

पटियाला के बारे में बहुत अच्छी और विशद जानकारी दी आपने, शुक्रिया । महाराजा राजिंदर सिंह के ही नाम पर राजिंदरा अस्पताल बना होगा । महाराजा महिंदर सिंह का नाम नहीं आया, जिनके नाम से 1875 में महिंदरा कालेज बना ।
एक बात जानने की इच्छा है । पटियाला नगर की भिन्न सीमाओं पर विशाल ड्योढ़ियां कब बनी होंगी, जिन्हे गेट कहते हैं, --- समानिया गेट, नाभा गेट, शेरांवाला गेट आदि ??
