Really helpful video, particularly the explanation on the common/live wire
This is exactly what I needed. Good, clear close-ups of the actual real life items being used and the opening in the wall. Basically, "what it will look like when you get there having never seen it before". Really helps to orientate and get some confidence before tackling it as a noob.
The naming of the neutral wire as "switch live" is kind of confusing, but I guess if that's what it's called, that's what it's called. I found this little definition on the web that might help other people as well: "The brown wire is Live (also know as permanent live), this brings the live supply to the switch. The blue wire is known as the Switched Live and takes power to the light. Switched Live is only live when the switch is on (this is where it gets its name from)"

Got any videos on how to wire a three way switch up and add a down light circuit from a ceiling rose so I have 3 separate lighting systems from three switches
What about when you have 3 com and 3 neutral going into a switch fitting?
Can i cap off the other 2 wires or cram them all into the switch?

If the light switch has a plastic plate, but you have a metal backbox, do you need to have a flylead between the metal back box and the light switch? If so what type of cable is required? Thanks.

I am wanting to change my stair switch to a smart switch system controlled by Alexa both light switches have 3 wires in them at the top and bottom of the stairs can you advise of a system that Alexa can control please
The earth wire should be in a wago or a connector. Block to carry the earth through to the next switch

I want to change a switch plate which is metal. This might sound stupid but what earthing cable do I need. Can I use a cut of piece from any appliance plug?
It needs to be 1mm or 1.5mm
the tricky part is doing the wiring on a two way or three way connection thats connected to another switch and runs off the old wiring system black and reds mostly for old

Just looking for some help, i have switched my light switch to a touch/wifi switch but all 3 wires coming into the box are red? How can i tell which is live, switch live and earth?
Did u take photo of previous configuration of last switch. If so u could work it out that way
Seems a lot if tools just to change a light switch lol
