      I would always slowly destroy my sets from taking a piece I needed off of them, slowly taking them apart until I had destroyed it. I would also do that with minifigures, I've been trying to find the arms for my chrome storm trooper for months. I have everything except the arms.

    I think lego had a really good color scheme going for these mars mission sets

  • @PhoenixClank

    This, to my younger self, used to be the ULTIMATE Lego spaceship. I mean it's got cannons on top of cannons on top of cannons, it's got not one but two! removable scout fighters with these awesome windscreens that I still love to this day, it's got a lab, and so on ...
    Then my friend got it and I got to see it from other angles than the catalog showed. And it wasn't so cool after all. (But I was really impressed by the locking mechanism of the ramp/platform/bay thingy.)

  • @ChimeraXI
    @ChimeraXI 9 ปีที่แล้ว +33

    I don't think Lego gave this enough guns. Double it to 200 or so and maybe it'd be okay, but it just seems a little sparse when it comes to firepower.

    I love how much playability this set has. The only Mars Mission set I got was the $10 mobile lab set, and even that had quite a bit of cool stuff in it. This was a pretty cool theme.

    • @michaellara5411
      @michaellara5411 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Sekiberius Welkesh I honestly don't mind if LEGO brought back the Mars Mission theme, it's just that it probably wouldn't be as good as it was back when it came out in 2007-2009. Even if it did succeed depending on the current year, it would either be extended or short-lived, depending on the company's decision.

    Amazing! This brings a lot of memories to many. It was such a fantastic successful theme, shame they discontinued it and replaced it with things like space police. Keep up with these reviews !

    • @COMMANDERFOX31
      @COMMANDERFOX31 9 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      C Smithson Mars Mission was replaced with Space Police, Space Police was replaced with Alien Conquest, Alien Conquest was replaced with Ultra Agents which is the current "Space theme". It says so on Brickipedia. Also, LEGO is obligated to run a self-made Sci-Fi team regularly along with all the constant themes (Star Wars, Duplo, City, Technic, Creator etc) it brings them a huge profit due to all the fans.

I just wanted you to know that I think you're amazing and really good at building LEGOs.

    The alien vessels could be powered by the integration of alien to vessel, a symbiotic relationship which is why the holographic circuitry is present. Analysis of this integration could be why humans are experimenting with the aliens powering their own vessels.

      I agree with you about the reduced number of play features in modern sets. LEGO are more relayened on stud shooters and more simple hinging. However there are still many cool mechanics today in sone of the sets, like the pop up book which is amazing (even it was originally fan designed)

    10:14 as unusual a face it is, this face was introduced in the Basketball section of LEGO sports in 2002, and makes several appearances in the Mars Mission sets. Personally I like this face more than the others. It has become very useful for custom mini figure building

      @MisterBurgerBeachball1225 The idea of humans fighting aliens and robots has been used several times before, especially in LEGO sets. How about an original space theme where all of the humans, aliens and robots are united as one? I mean, Star Wars has done that before, right?

  • @NRF787
    @NRF787 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I still have my Lego sets stored in the attic of my house. I have a few Star Wars sets along with a few random ones, but Aqua Raiders and Mars Mission are the themes I have the most of. I got every Aqua Raiders set and every Mars Mission set except for the newer Crystal Reaper and Drill Walker. When I got older and decided it was time to put my Lego sets away the two that I kept on the shelf in my room was this set and my 4504 Millenium Falcon from 2004. They stayed there until this year when I went to college. Hopefully some day I can take them out of the attic and give them to my own kids.
