It still looks good 👍 The can't sucks take some stress off the calves at weaning, especially the boys after banding. Hey Ed and family, we use those what we call quiet weans also. The calves we keep for winter( about 50, ) we put them in for about a week. We will lose the odd one but most times if one falls out, we can find them. It does help only pain is that you have to run them thru the headgate twice.
@@3dranchmanitoba good evening. They do work well.. we found leaving them in for a week, put holes through their noses. So 3 or 4 days and we take them out.. In 15-20 years of using them, we've only lost a couple forever..

Morning Ed 🍻👍. Just about bedtime for me. Late night combining, but the wind was up and we made a big dent in the oat field. Half a day should finish up combining and baling. Spent 11 hours down there today. The old girl made it through 3300 bushels on 10 ft swaths. Lots of back and forth. lol 😆. Close to 35 acres done. 10 left to combine. The rest was baled for greenfeed.
Good morning Ed, I've been vacuuming up the stink bugs with the cordless vacuum when they get in the house. I read they are cannibals and when they release their stink it draws more of them in. That should take care of the MF tie rod! It's not going down the road 70 mph.

Those nose flaps are the best way to wean, only thing negative is the extra trip through the chute. But I can usually time that with a booster shot. One or two may learn how to still get milk but if the rest aren't bawling they dont.
@@markgroth4380 they do work well! Yes, some figure out how to nurse sideways, or get it flipped up far enough to get around it. The ones we have, will wear a hole through the nose if left in too long. So we do 3 or 4 days generally. Boosters are at 4-6 weeks, so it's the extra trip, but then they're separated and weaned, that's the time consuming part. Just a couple of noisy nights, not a week. Thank you!!
@GosselinFarmsEdGosselin right. Wrap the ball with copper, then build up the outer/upper section of the socket. The ball may have some slop, but won't pop out.
