I will not argue with you or let you post multiple comments all over my video (pinging my phone each time) stating your (braindead) opinion that xyz thing should be considered a glitch. Seriously this is incredible. I like to do speed runs in NG+ to see how fast I can beat the game on my own and this is very helpful. I am amazed how you were able to do it on a new game even.
That precise plunging attack on Micolash is so satisfying. I remember myself chasing that dickhead around for 15 minutes before I found the spot. Well done!
Great run! I'm just getting into Blooodborne myself, and even though I'm not doing any crazy speedruns, your videos are super informative in regards to important loot to pick up and how to defeat bosses quickly. Keep it up man!

The entire run is incredibly impressive, but I also gotta say that that really brief Micolash dying "A-!" was also hilarious and oddly satisfying. Dude speedran his own screaming like he knew what was going on.
All you have to do is press the X button and it skips his dialogue..... that goes for any dialogue in the game. Can't sprint while he's talking so unless skipped, you have to slowly walk around. Which goes without saying is a waste of time.
@@lGenso Ah, I see! As it happens, I've never played Bloodborne myself, only watched people play it (not a PS owner), so I was unaware of that. I thought the NPCs would simply keep yelling while you leave them behind, so it was amusing for me to hear Micolash scream so short.
The pathing is so insanely tight on this run 😅. Felt like aside from getting body blocked by the hunchback there wasn't a single step wasted. Insane run. 🔥🔥

@topography It's a side effect of the game system. It can happen any time you change a piece of equipment whether you want it to or not. Because it can happen randomly any time, the community doesn't ban changing weapons and armor because that makes no sense, and we don't ban changing weapons and armor when you're near an enemy because you're constantly near enemies in this game. Just an unavoidable by-product of the game, so there's no reason we can't at least try to make it work in our favor. If it was 100% consistent in avoiding enemies, everyone would be running everywhere spamming a toggle on the equipment bar. What you don't see in a run like this that you do see in the failed attempts, is the many times you run by spamming, and this doesn't work, and the enemy punches you in the mouth and kills you lol. But the run is verified on speedrun.com and all of the rules were followed. Inevitably, some people will decide that this small allowance violates their personal view of what a glitch should be, which is all good, but that is at least, the explanation of why the moderators and the speedrun community don't reject runs for the purpose of just changing equipment. Bloodborne runs are actually quite strict in terms of "glitchless" rulesets vs a lot of other souls games, Dark Souls 3, for example, where you see stuff like fall damage canceling being allowed. No sleight on any of my Dark Souls 3 counterparts. I love watching their content, and I recommend other people check those runs out, too, if you haven't already.
Your speedrun is amazing dude, great run, you're the first person I've seen beat the game as fast as you. You seem like an experienced Souls player, which one do you recommend I buy first, Elden Ring or Dark Souls 3?
@rankpush2062 It's a little embarrassing, but I actually don't have the platinum trophy in this game. The only game in the series I never bothered to platinum, and by far the one I have the most time in. Congrats on your platinum trophy.

I wonder how much speedruns are going to improve for this game if this remaster does end up happening and the load times are (hopefully) greatly improved
Ok ok lemme just start with never finished the game spent like 1-2 weeks on bsb tried blood bottle strats and all that I suck at soulsborne games furthest I’ve gotten was either pontif in ds3 or godskins duo in Elden ring(fuck godskins duo spent 2 weeks and didn’t see improvement quit on it) haven’t watched the run but reading 30 minutes glitchless is insane to me good run I bet thanks for reading Edit: didn’t even know bsb wasn’t a main boss didn’t even hit amalia but the run beautiful dude that was insane you made to me the hardest of the 4 soulsborne games I’ve played look so easy
@maxdishaw It doesn't really do anything consistently. Sometimes the enemies will ignore you, but most of the time they will just aggro early and kill you for trying to do this.

Wow! What a great run! My gf and i were watching this together and we noticed you extend the saw blade and then retract it right before a boss cutscene. Is that a cue you use or is there some time save reason?
@Papanug When you toggle a weapon and/or hold up shield/trick a weapon in these games, it allows you to continue sprinting without any stoppage during the cutscene, assuming you are holding O throughout. It's imperative to do this for certain fights or you won't make it to the correct spot in time to execute the strategies.
out of curiosity, why do you take off all the clothes at certain points? i know the reason for the hat equip/unequip but there's no weight system like there is in the dark souls games in bb. great run btw, seeing you take out shadows like that was crazy
@andrewrchooven1996 Sort by recents and scroll the comments. You will see I have answered this question and just about any other you can think of multiple times.
You either need to kill cleric beast to buy the key to open cathedral ward and progress the game, or kill Blood Starved Beast by running all the way to the bottom of Old Yharnam, which opens the door to upper cathedral ward. Running to BSB takes over a minute longer than killing Cleric Beast and skipping that entire area.
This is really cool but just a question, how come you don’t viseral attack when u stun the enemies? i saw you didn’t do it against gasgcoine or the shadows, is it to save time? Surely you’d kill them quicker if you did so no?
@ir_7862 Visceral attacking loses about 5 seconds each time and does significantly reduced damaged unless you have a build centered around visceral attacks at high level. Obviously we don't have a level 200 character for speedruns, so visceral attacks are one of the worst and slowest forms of damage available to us. For example, if I visceral Gascoigne after each backstab, I will do around 200 damage (roughly, I don't remember exactly what it is because speedrunners don't visceral bosses, because it's terrible) vs throwing a molly at him which does around 435 damage. Two times the amount of damage and throwing a molly takes 1/3 of the time to do vs the entire, pathetically slow, visceral animation.
Doesnt take a genius to figure it out. Surely youd figure hes underleveled, viscerals take long, molotovs do more damage on beast. I mean come on, use your head.
Why did you equip swap all the time? Why did you kill Cleric Beast? Why didn't you fight Gehrman? Why do you keep killing the Doll? Did I mention I can't read? Insane run man, amazing job
@alextromagnetic Sometimes it affects the AI of the enemy. Most of the time they just aggro extra fast and kill you for trying it, so it's barely ever helpful.
As I keep explaining, in every Souls game, every piece of armor and weapon equipped causes your character to take increased fall damage. I am taking the armor pieces off to decrease the fall damage.
@yassinmaged3939 I've explained this several times as well. When removing or adding a piece of equipment, your in-game character model is updated by the game. When the character model is updated, the timing of the queue system for the enemies attacks can be affected. This can have various wild results, ranging from the enemies instantly turning to attack you, to totally ignoring your character. Most of the time it is the former. Occasionally, enemies will ignore your character completely. Usually performing this tech will get you killed. The reason that this isn't considered a glitch is because this can happen any time you alter your character's weapons or armor. With that in mind, it's impossible to disqualify runs for changing equipment and armor during the speedrun because it makes no sense to do that. By that logic every run on the leaderboard would be instantly disqualified. And we can't write a rule that says something like, "it's ok to change your equipment, but only sometimes," or "you can't consistently toggle the equipment on and off" because words like "sometimes" and "consistently" aren't tangible numerical factors and can thus vary in interpretation based on the person reading it. To avoid the inevitable arguments, the speedrun.com moderators don't impose stupid rules like this. Despite my explanations of why this is the way it is and me taking out several minutes of my life to explain this to people, however, morons will still debate me here and tell me my run is invalid when you can clearly go to speedrun.com and see that the run is verified by a moderator.
@mikeorwell1103 Can't buy the key to get to Amelia without echoes. It costs 10k. The alternative is running all the way to the bottom of Old Yharnam to fight BSB which opens the alternate path and is much slower. You can't beat this game unless you go to Amelia one way or another.
Is there a reason to switch the stance of your weapon than adding fire paper? Like for amelia you did it right before the boss but you switched right back to the normal stance. Is it some attack boost thing?
When you run through a cutscene trigger, if you do not trick your weapon, your character will stop sprinting completely and have to start again from walking. If you try to do the Amelia strat like this, you will be too slow to reach her, and she will punch you in the face at the start of the fight every time. Tricking the weapon allows you to carry the sprint through the cutscene trigger and reach her quickly enough to execute the opening combo.
@lGenso, I'm not going for anything crazy like 30 mins. Just 2 hours would be fine with me lol. I just needed to find what the right pathing and items you need. Of course there are high tech strats and if they're to hard, I'll just do it my way. But yeah, this might be a bit of stretch from starting off with speedrunning. But if you have any recommendations to start speedrunning, it'd be appreciated.
@Godzilla545 There are only 5 runners who have completed runs on this route, and of the 5 who have, I took it a step further by skipping extra healing items. I completed this run using only a total of 10 blood vials throughout the run, which is suicidal given it only saved 1-2 seconds for each of the pickups I ignored. Each of the runners who completed early cleric route are elite, with several years of dedicated experience to the game to reach a level of proficiency to complete a run like this. It is not in any way even remotely good as a resource for new runners. You are much better off scrolling the leaderboard and finding a run that matches your skill level better than jumping into a run that involves suicide strats and feeling overwhelmed. There's no reason to be attempting early cleric or pelletless Amelia when there are safe scripted strats for bsb and Amelia with a beast blood pellet... With that said, this is only my opinion. If you still want to attempt a run using this routing, it is certainly your prerogative to do so. Best of luck to you.

@@Philly.D If you don't kill cleric beast, you can't get 10k echoes to buy the key to get to Amelia in any kind of reasonably quick amount of time. If you don't go to Amelia, you can't complete this game. The only other option is to run to the bottom of Old Yharnam to fight BSB to open the other gate.......... A massive time loss.
@@seamusstidams6584 If you talk to the doll, she begins randomly changing positions around the dream. Searching for her to level up is obviously going to waste time, so we kill her instead so she never moves from her starting point.

Various reasons, some more 5Head than others. Killing a boss too quickly, running past an enemy that they themselves were unable to get by, using items, using In-Game Time rather than Real Time Attack (which is the rule for this game on speedrun.com, not even my rule) to time the run, etc. In the past, I was annoyed by almost daily remarks saying the run was illegitimate, spliced, etc., so I blocked many, many users. Mostly people who commented many times without me responding and people who I chatted with briefly, then they continued to blow my phone up with notifications after I stopped responding. This was my mistake, which is why I didn't delete my original thread and rather amended it. I failed to realize that these comments are actually from some of my biggest fans, who I was denying the opportunity to speak with me and interact, even if it is negative. Just because they don't understand the rules of the category, or claim that I'm a cheater ignorantly without any understanding of what they're talking about, that doesn't mean I shouldn't let them say their piece and feel good about themselves for telling me off lol. I can't respond to people infinitely, but I can mark comments so everyone knows that I'm seeing what they have to say to me, whether it's good or bad.

At the beginning when you were running past the wolf, were you taking the hood on and off for a reason or just because? lol I'm just trying to learn
It sometimes causes the wolf not to follow your character anytime you change a piece of armor or weapon. Same as other Souls games.

@@janinemurdock2043 The load times don't count toward your In-Game Time (IGT), which is how speedruns are officially timed for Bloodborne.

My gf and i were watching this together and we noticed you extend the saw blade and then retract it right before a boss cutscene. Is that a cue you use or is there some time save reason?
@Papanug When you toggle a weapon and/or hold up shield/trick a weapon in these games, it allows you to continue sprinting without any stoppage during the cutscene, assuming you are holding O throughout. It's imperative to do this for certain fights or you won't make it to the correct spot in time to execute the strategies.
out of curiosity, why do you take off all the clothes at certain points? i know the reason for the hat equip/unequip but there's no weight system like there is in the dark souls games in bb. great run btw, seeing you take out shadows like that was crazy
Taking off your armor and weapons in any Souls game decreases fall damage received.

congrats for the run. why the cleric beast kill tho? isn't it an optional boss? (i'm playing the game for the 1st time)
You either need to kill cleric beast to buy the key to open cathedral ward and progress the game, or kill Blood Starved Beast by running all the way to the bottom of Old Yharnam, which opens the door to upper cathedral ward. Running to BSB takes over a minute longer than killing Cleric Beast and skipping that entire area.

This is really cool but just a question, how come you don’t viseral attack when u stun the enemies? i saw you didn’t do it against gasgcoine or the shadows, is it to save time? Surely you’d kill them quicker if you did so no?
@ir_7862 Visceral attacking loses about 5 seconds each time and does significantly reduced damaged unless you have a build centered around visceral attacks at high level. Obviously we don't have a level 200 character for speedruns, so visceral attacks are one of the worst and slowest forms of damage available to us. For example, if I visceral Gascoigne after each backstab, I will do around 200 damage (roughly, I don't remember exactly what it is because speedrunners don't visceral bosses, because it's terrible) vs throwing a molly at him which does around 435 damage. Two times the amount of damage and throwing a molly takes 1/3 of the time to do vs the entire, pathetically slow, visceral animation.
Doesnt take a genius to figure it out. Surely youd figure hes underleveled, viscerals take long, molotovs do more damage on beast.

@alextromagnetic Sometimes it affects the AI of the enemy. Most of the time they just aggro extra fast and kill you for trying it, so it's barely ever helpful.
Can someone explain to me why he keeps taking off his clothes? I don't think there is weight that slows people down in this game
As I keep explaining, in every Souls game, every piece of armor and weapon equipped causes your character to take increased fall damage. I am taking the armor pieces off to decrease the fall damage.

@yassinmaged3939 I've explained this several times as well. When removing or adding a piece of equipment, your in-game character model is updated by the game. When the character model is updated, the timing of the queue system for the enemies attacks can be affected. This can have various wild results, ranging from the enemies instantly turning to attack you, to totally ignoring your character. Most of the time it is the former. Occasionally, enemies will ignore your character completely. Usually performing this tech will get you killed. The reason that this isn't considered a glitch is because this can happen any time you alter your character's weapons or armor. With that in mind, it's impossible to disqualify runs for changing equipment and armor during the speedrun because it makes no sense to do that. By that logic every run on the leaderboard would be instantly disqualified. And we can't write a rule that says something like, "it's ok to change your equipment, but only sometimes," or "you can't consistently toggle the equipment on and off" because words like "sometimes" and "consistently" aren't tangible numerical factors and can thus vary in interpretation based on the person reading it. To avoid the inevitable arguments, the speedrun.com moderators don't impose stupid rules like this. Despite my explanations of why this is the way it is and me taking out several minutes of my life to explain this to people, however, morons will still debate me here and tell me my run is invalid when you can clearly go to speedrun.com and see that the run is verified by a moderator.

Might be a dumb question but why bother with Cleric Beast?
@mikeorwell1103 Can't buy the key to get to Amelia without echoes. It costs 10k. The alternative is running all the way to the bottom of Old Yharnam to fight BSB which opens the alternate path and is much slower. You can't beat this game unless you go to Amelia one way or another.

Is there a reason to switch the stance of your weapon than adding fire paper? Like for amelia you did it right before the boss but you switched right back to the normal stance. Is it some attack boost thing?
When you run through a cutscene trigger, if you do not trick your weapon, your character will stop sprinting completely and have to start again from walking. If you try to do the Amelia strat like this, you will be too slow to reach her, and she will punch you in the face at the start of the fight every time. Tricking the weapon allows you to carry the sprint through the cutscene trigger and reach her quickly enough to execute the opening combo.

@lGenso, I'm not going for anything crazy like 30 mins. Just 2 hours would be fine with me lol. I just needed to find what the right pathing and items you need. Of course there are high tech strats and if they're to hard, I'll just do it my way. But yeah, this might be a bit of stretch from starting off with speedrunning. But if you have any recommendations to start speedrunning, it'd be appreciated.
@Godzilla545 There are only 5 runners who have completed runs on this route, and of the 5 who have, I took it a step further by skipping extra healing items. I completed this run using only a total of 10 blood vials throughout the run, which is suicidal given it only saved 1-2 seconds for each of the pickups I ignored. Each of the runners who completed early cleric route are elite, with several years of dedicated experience to the game to reach a level of proficiency to complete a run like this. It is not in any way even remotely good as a resource for new runners. You are much better off scrolling the leaderboard and finding a run that matches your skill level better than jumping into a run that involves suicide strats and feeling overwhelmed. There's no reason to be attempting early cleric or pelletless Amelia when there are safe scripted strats for bsb and Amelia with a beast blood pellet... With that said, this is only my opinion. If you still want to attempt a run using this routing, it is certainly your prerogative to do so. Best of luck to you.

@@Philly.D If you don't kill cleric beast, you can't get 10k echoes to buy the key to get to Amelia in any kind of reasonably quick amount of time. If you don't go to Amelia, you can't complete this game. The only other option is to run to the bottom of Old Yharnam to fight BSB to open the other gate.......... A massive time loss.

@@seamusstidams6584 If you talk to the doll, she begins randomly changing positions around the dream. Searching for her to level up is obviously going to waste time, so we kill her instead so she never moves from her starting point.

I dont get it. What exactly are people pointing out as fake or cheating? It looked 100% legit to me. Like nothing sucpicious at all.
Various reasons, some more 5Head than others. Killing a boss too quickly, running past an enemy that they themselves were unable to get by, using items, using In-Game Time rather than Real Time Attack (which is the rule for this game on speedrun.com, not even my rule) to time the run, etc. In the past, I was annoyed by almost daily remarks saying the run was illegitimate, spliced, etc., so I blocked many, many users. Mostly people who commented many times without me responding and people who I chatted with briefly, then they continued to blow my phone up with notifications after I stopped responding. This was my mistake, which is why I didn't delete my original thread and rather amended it. I failed to realize that these comments are actually from some of my biggest fans, who I was denying the opportunity to speak with me and interact, even if it is negative. Just because they don't understand the rules of the category, or claim that I'm a cheater ignorantly without any understanding of what they're talking about, that doesn't mean I shouldn't let them say their piece and feel good about themselves for telling me off lol. I can't respond to people infinitely, but I can mark comments so everyone knows that I'm seeing what they have to say to me, whether it's good or bad.

@@olivierexe2502 Yes I am, but loading screens have no bearing on the speedruns for Bloodborne, since the official timing method is In-Game Time, not Real Time Attack.
