You can't buy the key that leads to Amelia without 10k blood echoes. Without the echoes from Cleric, the only other options for getting to Amelia are killing random mobs that drop roughly 40-100 echoes each to make up the difference, or running all the way to the bottom of Old Yharnam and killing BSB, which opens another door that also leads to Amelia. It's fairly obvious that farming mobs and running to the bottom of Old Yharnam to fight BSB are both painfully slow. I killed Cleric Beast in about 30 seconds here.

I only used the saw spear for about 10 minutes of the run. I used the saw cleaver for 90% of run. The reason for grabbing the spear at the beginning is because it's on the way to Gascoigne anyway. If I stopped at the lamp and returned to the dream, it's an entire extra trip to the dream that is completely unnecessary when the spear can kill the first 3 bosses almost as efficiently as the cleaver does.

When you press the X button in this game, there is a small chance the game will register the press too long and cause a motion gesture to trigger. When this game was released in 2015, the Dualshock 4 was still fairly new and my guess is From simply overtuned the motion controls because they didn't fully understand the hardware or didn't care. Likely both. From has included motion controls in their games dating all the way back to Demon's Souls on the PS3, but you never do them errantly in any title save this one. It was also cleaned up a lot in the release of Dark Souls 3 but never patched or fixed in Bloodborne. TL;DR The slightest movement of the gyros inside the controller while pressing the X button can potentially trigger a gesture because of a lack of effort by the developer.

@@lGensoQuite surprised that the older fromsoft titles didn’t have an option to turn that off. I think I remember an option in elden ring. Such a useless mechanic to implement in souls games.

The other options are farming normal enemies at 50-200 echoes a pop or running all the way down to the bottom of Old Yharnam and killing Blood-Starved Beast to open the gate to Upper Cathedral that way. If I don't kill Cleric Beast for the echoes, which took like 40 seconds and already on my way to Gascoigne anyway, I'm losing minutes of time running down to fight BSB. TL;DR This is just basic game progression.

That's gonna be up to you. Everyone plays the game at their own pace.

Sometimes it causes the enemies not to attack. Sometimes the enemies will aggro faster. It gets you killed pretty often.

The game and the skips used are pretty much entirely different at 60fps vs 30fps. I could write a novel about the differences in the game but ultimately it comes down to how the physics of the game are exerted at those different frame rates.
