I used to make and sell mirrors picture frames wooden crosses using premixed tile grout. Spread it on first then place your medium into it and your pretty much done. I used shells, flat marbles, broken China for examples. It’s been ten years and my personal shell mirror is still going strong.

Also I would get wood or mdf and draw any shape I wanted and cut it out with a jig saw sanded the edges good to go. Original art baby!

Growing up in the 60s /70s, we used to fry marbles to crack their inside

Back in the 70s we did the heat and ice water bit with whole marbles. We made jewelry with them. Lee Wards, the Michaels precursor, had ring shanks and earring findings made just for the marbles. It was such fun. 😊

How do you make them in a fry pan? We cracked the marbles in my Brownies troop using an oven in the 60’s. Ruth in Illinois

Where do you get the acrylic geode piece you’re decorating with the glass stones? Do they sell that in Dollar Tree? Please let us know where to find everything you are using. Thanks!

We made these when I was a kid, using clear glass marbles. We called them Fried Marbles, because we would heat them in an iron skillet, then pour them into ice water.

@@lilly3am b/c your life is more important than another? I’m not screaming, I’m alerting, not only the woman who made this video, who mentioned putting them in fish tanks/bowls, but everyone else who clearly doesn’t know. If you want to keep fish as “pets”, it’s best to use smooth, rounded stones. But you, & the 2 responses below yours are proof of that which I’ve known for decades-Unless something effects YOUR LIFE, it doesn’t matter. 3 of the same self serving, narcissistic fish, swimming in a tank full of glass gemstones.

The heat from the oven causes the glass to expand, so that when you dunk them in the ice water they contract rapidly which causes them to crack.
