Great video, very detailed and helpful. I was about to do the same thing for a friend of mine but kindly declined at the end. Boy am I glad I dodged this bullet. All these German cars are great when they have low miles but after the 100k mark you’re better off just selling. PITA to work on and very expensive parts.

Thank you, I still have it, but I haven't been driving it because it leaks oil out of the oil cooler gasket pretty bad. I just haven't had q chance to replace it yet. We will make a how to video for that too

@@2brokeurowners672 that's crazy my Touareg did the same thing upon buying it in Ohio it was dropped to me in Indiana we drove it to Michigan then to Ohio with intent to drive back to California but it took a serious crap in Ohio the oil cooler seals wib turned out to be the actual oil cooller. Was cracked ..got it repaired at the tuned of 1+k and sti ended up trailering the car back to California ...that's another story ..but good job sir

How did you depress the cam timing chain tensioner? I'm doing the exzact thing you guys are doing and changing the girdle gaskets. I'm scared to just lever on the tensioner, is their a release switch?
