Much like the Super Metroid/LTTP randomizer, this one merges Zelda 1 and Metroid 1 and it's pretty awesome.

Good Old Days Gaming Link Betwen Worlds/Samus Returns, BotW/MP4, SS/MP3, so many options. I like that these are getting popular since it opens up so much more.

What's with the Zelda/Metroid randomiser merging? Is it because they're both not named after the protagonist?
I think it's because both games are fan favorite titles that progress similarily based off which items you have.
Hyrule and Zebes only have one bathroom, so Link and Samus take turns while the other gets some more toilet paper.

ColossalDonut5 probobly because both are not only fan favourites but considered some of the best games on the console. Both games also have you collect loads of items and mixing them just adds another layer of depth and challenge to the randomiser also makes you less likely to get into a “I’m stuck and can’t progress” situation since you can change games.

3:51 Whoa, what? That is incredible.
Zelda has a counter built in. Kill 16 enemies in a row without getting hit and if the 16th enemy can drop an item it will drop a fairy. If you kill multiple things at the same time and you end on 16 then you will get however many fairies of things you kill. So in this case he was at 13, killed 3 enemies to bring him to 16 and got 3 fairies for it. It’s also tied in with the 10th enemy has the bomb.
Ive been watching the Beard Bros. play Super Metroid/A Link To The Past. Now I just saw this and I am so excited because dual game is a great idea.

So why did you save and quit out of the Level 1 dungeon when there was still more rooms to explore? The Triforce piece or another item could have been in one of the rooms you hadn't been to couldn't it have?
As a suggestion for your next randomiser I would like to see you try and attempt the wind waker randomiser
It even has the option for you to have a tetra or medli model and replaces the sail with the swift sale
been waitin for this one boy, lemme tell ya.
I think with that seed it may be that the morph ball is there, because you had the high jump boots which allowed you to get out easily but otherwise that could be a lock/save-quit type scenario if it wasn't the morph ball.
Sooo... where can one find this randomizer? when ever I google for it, it just takes me to the super metroid link to the past one.
The one change I really wish someone would make in a hack of the OG Metroid is the ability to crouch and shoot and the ability to shoot upwards. That would make the game a lot more fun and easier of course.

AW YEAAAAHHHHH, New NCS video. AND it's Metroid, AND and it's Zelda. AND and AAAAND it's a randomizer. Today is a good day!
Looks like a whole new randomizer than what was streamed last Friday. I imagine Tim’s already beaten this one though since it didn’t take him that long to beat it on stream (and was recorded soon after it by the sound of things), least compared to any of his OoT randomizer seeds, so no checklists this time, just riffs and commentary.
0:44 The last seed wasn’t that bad though in retrospect. You got the Wooden sword and White Sword early on after all, and two or three of the Triforce pieces were in one dungeon.
2:36 Definitely not all 8. You left some uncleared due to not having the right items .
3:14 The Long Beam was long missed too despite how much Tim has previously made fun of it.

22:49 I’m fairly certain you don’t need to beat them. The Totems may be like some hidden item you get for beating the bosses as there is an item fanfare when you normally beat Kraid or Ridley.
31:48 Also because it sucks getting stuck in a location in Metroid, particularly those one tile gaps in Norfair where you can’t make the jump out even with a bomb-enhanced high jump. Worse if you’ve a lot of health and defense.
Hey Tim, I know you love metroidvanias with how often you have games like Super Metroid randomizers and such. A really cool game that I would love to see you play is called Hollow Knight. It’s a metroidvania that may or may not be right up your alley.
These randomizers are getting way outta hand.
It took me a while, but I finally found the program and the exact FCEUX that I needed, but I had a weird problem with the way some of it works. I started a seed and couldn't get anywhere, so I hit Ctrl+R for reset. But when I came back, I had zero rupees, zero keys, and zero bombs. I had no sword yet, couldn't really progress at all, so I tried to restart the game on a different save-slot, and I still had 0/0/0. Regenerated the seed, still had 0/0/0. I basically had to give up and start a new seed altogether... not sure if it was a bug or intended, but it was kind of aggravating.
I haven't been to this channel in years... Christ.

I love maps in games, especially RPGs! I think I was spoiled with that by Pokemon Diamond being my first ever game, especially that I beat, and playing my own copy of Kingdom Hearts CoM and 2 before my own copy of 1. I still need to use a guide for games I know I can get easily lost in, whether it be navigation or plot progression a la AA or Persona.

Oh goody! More exploration of these classic games. :D Oh, and your egg burps...my household calls them "rotten egg burps" (original, I know) and they usually seem to be caused by indigestion, but we've never figured out why. My husband gets them now and then, and he's healthy as a horse. Try a liquid antacid to get rid of them.

hyrule is going through a crisis man, ancient powerful fragments of a relic are being sold, old men are giving away magical rods, doors to alternate alien worlds are all over the place, man, I told them this would happen.

These two art styles definitely compliment each other better than the other two. Super Metroid's beautiful attention to detail, doesn't mesh well with LttP (Link took the Piss)'s thick black outlines and gross colours, imo.
You also could have pretty easily got that E Tank up in the wall at the beginning of Metroid with your high jump and bombs.

KokiriKid07 Return of Samus is largely linear, and if you try mapping it out..it makes no sense. Maybe wait until Samus Returns is randomized...

Jamison Junkrat Not his first ALttP and Super Metroid randomizers. Even his OoT wasn’t a troll seed as the one that went up on TH-cam was actually his second. His first seed wasn’t half bad. Even this last one wasn’t so bad save for the Morph Ball Bombs and Silver Arrows.
Play a Pokemon Randomizer next, those can get pretty crazy too.

Metroid 2 is a gameboy game and Zelda 2 is an NES game. I don't think those two would be compatible with each other.
How about Super Game Boy version of Metroid 2 mixed with Secret of Evermore, then

Tim, you know you can equip items to both B *and* A, right? So you don't have to keep swapping between items so much?

This is also not Zelda Classic. In many Custom Quests you can set item to A and B along with the Sword also being an item you can set.
Yeah but you're talking about 3 decades of programming that a is the sword. Since he doesn't have one it's pretty understandable that he doesn't use a at all since he's basically not wired to think that way, I'd do the same myself.
From my extremely limited knowledge of Metroid, from what I heard, if you have both totems, you can just go straight to the boss. (someone correct me if I'm wrong)

28:10 Tim, those burps are called "Sulfur Burps." I have the same problem, and it's usually once-a-year, but this past year it's become more common. There are many different factors to cause it... It is usually caused by excessive amounts of oxygen in the stomach; although, when it happens frequently that can be caused by multiple different factors... For instance, I have "IBS," which screws with my stomach every time I'm overly stressed or anxious... Some people with "GERD" get sulfur burps despite environmental factors (Same goes for those of us with "IBS," and other digestive disorders...). Of course, you don't HAVE to have a disorders like those for sulfur burps to happen and be common... In fact, stress, anxiety, and other environmental factors, on their own, can cause the Hydrogen Sulfide in your digestive tract to react and lead to sulfur build-ups in the stomach. Then, of course, the excess gas has to escape, so it chooses the path of least resistance.
My point is that in a lot of cases, there's something environmental that causes this, so... Idk if you still read all the comments you get, but just in case... Please take care of yourself.

1. Can you please record these in 60fps? Watching this in 30fps is really lame.
2. Why is there so much wasted space on the left side of the screen? There is easily enough room, especially if you get rid of that dumb Ripley avatar, for ZHelper, a speedrun timer, etc.
3. When you enter dungeons, the level text is cut off by the screen. You really should be more careful of fixing the aspect ratio as to not pointlessly waste screen real estate.
