Missiles, despite being obscenely common, are actually always good to get, as long as you're not going out of your way too far. Each one is an extra 5 shots of your revolver, in a game where your main weapon can feel like a slingshot.
I think the OP is referring to the randomizer, where you likely won't get the charge beam early on. In the vanilla game, the base beam/charge beam is absolutely critical if you want to survive the infamous 1% run.
Difficulty 5 never gets realized in full rando. Current logic just ignores bosses. So jumping from 2 to 5 only really opens one more shinespark vent in sector 1 and that's it. If you see an item on a boss, that means it's not a part of the "make game beatable" logic and was put there after logic was defined. This is to the point runners of this rando just skip bosses without any hesitation. I'm looking forward to the next version that addresses this current quirk. I enjoy playing the fusion rando on a handheld.
ngl hearing you dont really play any games casually anymore and how you often lose sleep over grinding out strats makes me feel a little bit worried for you. i guess that's just the grindset and all that but...sounds sad from my perspective, honestly.
I really don't want to give the wrong impression. Being able to play video games professionally is a privilege, and I grind both because I have to and because I love the process of improving.

I also love the improvement process tho (I play modded Terraria which is almost overloaded with DLC-level mods that add new bosses, weapons, items, and difficulty levels, not to mention the mods that make crossmod difficulties possible) I’m pretty late to this but just make sure to take care of yourself before your channel, your health is more important than the grind

I dont know about Fusion MAX, but I just fiinished doing a regular Fusion rando with Power bombs appearing way WAAYYY before bombs. It was brutal. I generated the seed over a year ago but i just played it for the 1st time. Leaning on Hi Jump, ice missile and powerbombs and Shiny.was a doozy till i found Screw attack. That really opened things up. Or at least i thought that till i found out everything i needed was deep under water (or lava). Bosses consistently dropped power bombs and missiles. Its a bit sad that i wouldnt have had an easier time at all if i remembered to return to the 1st boss to get the Space Jump behind the missile wall. I say this because none of the equipment i needed would have been easier to get with the space jump this time. If I redo this seed to focus on Any% I genuinely might skip the space jump altogether. Remains to be seen
I will never understand the mentality of someone who sees an easily accessible expansion in front of them and decides against taking it... It just baffles me so much!

I was inconsiderate in thinking the only reason you are choosing not to do more Metroid games is because it doesn't match the channel theme. Memorizing how to play one difficult game is exhausting enough. A whole entire other series is completely unreasonable. Just happy you do any at all for the variety 😁

Power Bomb tanks and the actual Power Bomb upgrade are two different things, he cant use power bombs without the upgrade even after getting power bomb tanks.

Beam is crazy op in fusion lmao, especially charge beam, so idk what you're talking about.
The beam IS very strong but there are not many enemies nor bosses that are vulnerable to it.

Pretty sure you need Varia AND Gravity to stop lava damage. Neither one by itself grants that immunity.
Why didnt the Varia X - Core appear in sector 6?
Also, if you have Wave Beam, you can activate the rising pillars in the floor just by shooting the floor.
I heard there was an update to make it harder-where you cannot use power bombs or upgraded missiles without the base bomb and missile upgrade
I think there was a sequence break romhack where you can wall jump more akin to wall jump of ZM. That could be really fun with a randomizer.

The fight will activate when you have Red Doors unlocked, Plasma + Charge for the boss fight, and either High Jump or Space Jump.

How come at 16:18 you have gotten 2 powerbomb tanks and it doesn't show you have powerbombs? I thought you made early powerbomb options enabled
