Martin, your autistic friend is just one person, everyone on the ASD spectrum is very different. The movie had two main problems, in my opinion. The first is that it sincerely tried to show what a high-functioning adult on the spectrum would act, as opposed to the typical “movie autism” that audiences expect. The second problem is that “real” high-functioning autism is not very cinematic. Calm, expressionless adults who quietly do their jobs exceptionally well, just do not make for interesting characters. Still, I give the movie and the actors props for trying.
