LOVE this version! I'm a self-styled "To Mega Therion connoisseur" and have heard every version I can find, and I think this is my fav. Awesome energy, and you can tell they really love the music they are playing. Christopher looks so happy! Yeah Snowy's screeching is kinda annoying on To Mega Therion, but hey you can't have everything. I'm a long time metal head...why did it tell me so long to find this genius band?!
Fave songs have changed over time for me on this album. Was To Mega at first,then Cults,then Invocation of Namaah,now its In the Desert of Set all day long. Best album for sure

the voices are different too ... I know, I compare this with the CD studio record, but, it is not a bit different, it is a diametral different from this ... uuh ... When I first heard they album THELI, I didnt want to hear anything else :) ... but this is little bit out of tune ... :( :( :(
Yeah, a lot of the comments are complaining about Snowy, but the whole band seems to be having so much fun, I can forgive Snowy's weird showboating in this performance - it seems to fit in with the lighter mood here.
Great honour to my country Greece. First the name of the band Therion means wild animal in ancient and modern language also second the album's name theli in Greece means he/she wants. I am from Greece and i have two weeks who learn about this extraordinary band and still trying to learn their discography from the past and they have many , to listen their songs from those albums, to learn about the singers and the other members of the band,in this point i am completely confused till today but i am a new fan and i have a lot to learn still. And the most tragic of all, they had concerts in 2018 in a nearest city of mine,so unbelievable. I like the performance of theli, it's a beautiful album and because of the siren of the woods and this performance find this band.

I like Snowy, I really do. He is not "the greatest" singer in the world, but he did fine with the NEW Therion stuff and on the albums he recorded with Chris. But this concert... taking up "Theli" was a big challenge and in the end I think they failed... And Snowy was one of the downs of this...
Apesar do vocal soar um pouco estranho neste vídeo, eu gosto do Snowy, e acho que ele faz um pouco de falta na formação atual. Vi três shows com ele, e um melhor que o outro... ele estava ótimo na turnê de aniversário em que tocaram Secret of Runes. Eu detestava os vocais do Thomas, amaldiçoando a saída do Mats sempre que o ouvia, mas ele melhorou MUITO deste que entrou na banda. No último aqui do Brasil, ele foi brilhante.
Therion for me has always been different from all other Symphonic Metal bands for their excellent fusion of classical elements to their heavy metal, but when I say classical elements I mean how well-crafted classical music instruments were, the final part of in the desert of set or the own opus eclipse. Combinations cohesive and with well-placed symphonic instruments, not what has become today, that the focus tries to be in the diverse vocalistas that they possess trying to make a poor opera, and this ended up reflecting even in the instrumental heavy metal that accompanied the weakness of the new vocals, I miss the old Therion.
I actually like this cd/dvd set. The band rocks and the Belly Dancer adds a nice touch. I cannot wait for their new 2016 release.. Hopefully, they will set some tour dates in the United States...

Segundo, te contradecís claramente al decir que no se compara a King Diamond con Snowy y luego decís que éste no encaja con el estilo gótico de la banda de Christofer Jhonsson. King Diamond tiene mucho de gótico en sus ambientales y su estilo de voz encaja de forma excelente, ¿y en Therion algo semejante no encaja? y aclaro: no estoy comparando a Therion con King Diamond, sino a Snowy con Kim Bendix Petersen en cuanto a su variabilidad vocal y excentricidad.
It's funny that people regret Mats and are hating on Snowy and Piotr, as in 2005 everyone was telling Mats to shut the hell up, be less of a showman, and maybe bring back Piotr instead. I think it's wonderful that they did this Theli anniversary live album, few bands get to do that, and they usually come from the 'progressive rock' scene. Yes, it could have been better. But let's look at the positives. The percussion was spot on, Kristian Niemann was stellar at the lead guitar (just listen to the solos from the Desert and Eden), and Christofer was obviously glad to do it. Not to mention that the best female singer they ever had (Lori) was with them (but Theli is less female and choir dominated than the future albums, that's why she does not stand out). But her "crown" is absolutely awful, as is the fur from the alpha-male singer. Speaking of which, Snowy was... well, Snowy, but I guarantee you Mats would have handled it much worse and could not even attempt the growls that Chris is too old to do well (and that's understandable, I mean just look at Opeth now). The theatrics were present, but not as much as in the GK DVD, and nobody seemed to mind them then, but there was that chemistry between the four vocalists that is not visible here. The belly dancer is not as unappropriate, given the oriental sound and themes of some of their songs, it's "part of the mirage", and she is really beautiful and does her job well. One bigger issue that I have is with the keyboards. Therion normally used playback to play the "orchestral" parts, but here they decided to hire a temporary keyboard player. I think in some songs he simply did not rehearse enough, or maybe the mixing is just wrong; his keys sound nothing like the album and distract from the enjoyment. Did like the "Grand Finale" though, but I'm not sure how much of it was live. I was very happy to see Piotr, he sounded just like on the album and he seemed to have fun doing it, and that is something knowing that he was not actually a huge fan of metal or occult lyrics and has a satisfying job as a history scholar. The music sounds at least 90% as the album, so I am not sure why all the complaints are here, maybe some people have grown out of listening to this type of music. But this is still at the top of their game, objectively speaking. I think Therion should do a Vovin live album in 2018 and a SOTR one in 2021. For the Vovin album they could try to recreate a small choir (maybe 4 + 4) and also a small chamber orchestra (at least a few strings and maybe also some horns), for the SOTR just keep the choir and get back Lori, Kristian, Johan and Karl at least for the tours.

I really love Therion's choir era. They had great singers like Sarah, Suvi, Karin, Johanna and more. And when they changed their line-up and left choir style, I still loved them bc they got such talented singers like Lori, Katarina, Mats and Thomas. But this show is a mess. Lori and Thomas are stilll good but Lori probably had hard times because of not having a second vocal like Katarina and Thomas' mic is mute. Snowy is the one who ruined the whole show, actually all the shows that he showed up. He always tries to get attention and screams, which doesn't reflects Therion's spirit and ruins everything, I don't care how wide his vocal range is, he just sucks. Bring Kat, Mats and Lori Back and you'll see the true potential of Therion. Btw, I can't wait for Katarina's and Peter's new project!
+Dursun Nar I agree that Snowy ruined this show, but his performance here was different from his others with Therion. He is very theatrical, it's true, but that somehow gave a new air to the whole band. I don't think that his behavior goes against Therion's spirit, but it's all the other way around. Therion's music is VERY theatrical and they needed to show that on stage.The very Christofer Johnsson knew that and he was really pissed off when Snowy decided to leave therion, but then he took it with humor and gave Snowy a symbolic punishment, as you can see it in the video of Je n'ai besoin que de tendresse, where he gets whipped. I agree that he ruined this show but most of this performances were just great.
I do not agree with you, about Snow,he dressed like an animal because Therion means in greek ancient and modern language wild animal and he must screams like an animal, this is a show must be theatrical, even in opera some times especially in comedies have such elements.

Le gusta llamar la atencion se nota que es un egocentrico al querer ser el centro de atencion en todo el concierto. Los demas cantan y el interrumpe en todo momento. Me parece una gran falta de profesionalidad.

Entonces si canta de acuerdo a lo que pide la cancion se hace notar por eso mismo, por su gusto para adaptarse a lo que la musica pide. Que tiene ego? esta bien, que haga sus notas altas en dos o tres lugares donde todos lo van a elogiar, que lo haga con gusto y elegancia. Seria otra historia. Yo creo es solo inmadurez como cantante (o como persona ya que de ahi viene el cantante). Yo creo que tuvo un gran marco para formar parte de el y destacar cuando su momento era de hacerlo pero no tuvo la madurez. Tal vez nunca la tenga, verdad? Espero que si encuentre ese equilibrio un dia.
Este concierto de que año es? Si miran el Live Gothic del 2007 Snowy se comporta de un modo bastante diferente a comparación que aquí. Respeta los turnos de cada quien a la hora de cantar y hace un dúo muy bueno con Mats Leven. No sé qué le habrá picado acá. El tipo es excéntrico pero no al punto de ser molesto

Diferente do Matts ele é de fato cantor lírico e tem uma carreira dentro do rock e metal já que cantou no candlemass .

Lo banco a full a Snowy Shawn! Leí a varios criticando lo que no comprenden: su estilo de voz, cambiante y variable y su excentricidad es parte no sólo de su estilo sino también de la totalidad del show que supone Therion. Si critican la excentricidad, los alaridos y cambios de voces en Snowy deben desconocer por completo que desde los fines de lo '70 hay un tipo haciendo algo semejante. ¿Escucharon, al menos, hablar de King Diamond? No jodan con estupideces; el tipo puede no gustarles, pero apredan a criticar. Mientras ustedes digitaban un teclado para escribir necedades, Snowy giraba por el orbe terrestre cantando en una de las mejores bandas del heavy metal...

I think it's wonderful that they did this Theli anniversary live album, few bands get to do that, and they usually come from the 'progressive rock' scene.
Yes, it could have been better. But let's look at the positives. The percussion was spot on, Kristian Niemann was stellar at the lead guitar (just listen to the solos from the Desert and Eden), and Christofer was obviously glad to do it. Not to mention that the best female singer they ever had (Lori) was with them (but Theli is less female and choir dominated than the future albums, that's why she does not stand out). But her "crown" is absolutely awful, as is the fur from the alpha-male singer.
Speaking of which, Snowy was... well, Snowy, but I guarantee you Mats would have handled it much worse and could not even attempt the growls that Chris is too old to do well (and that's understandable, I mean just look at Opeth now). The theatrics were present, but not as much as in the GK DVD, and nobody seemed to mind them then, but there was that chemistry between the four vocalists that is not visible here.
The belly dancer is not as unappropriate, given the oriental sound and themes of some of their songs, it's "part of the mirage", and she is really beautiful and does her job well.
One bigger issue that I have is with the keyboards. Therion normally used playback to play the "orchestral" parts, but here they decided to hire a temporary keyboard player. I think in some songs he simply did not rehearse enough, or maybe the mixing is just wrong; his keys sound nothing like the album and distract from the enjoyment. Did like the "Grand Finale" though, but I'm not sure how much of it was live.
I was very happy to see Piotr, he sounded just like on the album and he seemed to have fun doing it, and that is something knowing that he was not actually a huge fan of metal or occult lyrics and has a satisfying job as a history scholar.
The music sounds at least 90% as the album, so I am not sure why all the complaints are here, maybe some people have grown out of listening to this type of music. But this is still at the top of their game, objectively speaking.
I think Therion should do a Vovin live album in 2018 and a SOTR one in 2021. For the Vovin album they could try to recreate a small choir (maybe 4 + 4) and also a small chamber orchestra (at least a few strings and maybe also some horns), for the SOTR just keep the choir and get back Lori, Kristian, Johan and Karl at least for the tours.
Pues si es algo diferente, en algunas pierde la nocion de lo que Therion debe ser, pero en lo personal esta version de Invocation of Naamah suena espectacular con guturales...

I really love Therion's choir era. They had great singers like Sarah, Suvi, Karin, Johanna and more. And when they changed their line-up and left choir style, I still loved them bc they got such talented singers like Lori, Katarina, Mats and Thomas. But this show is a mess. Lori and Thomas are stilll good but Lori probably had hard times because of not having a second vocal like Katarina and Thomas' mic is mute. Snowy is the one who ruined the whole show, actually all the shows that he showed up. He always tries to get attention and screams, which doesn't reflects Therion's spirit and ruins everything, I don't care how wide his vocal range is, he just sucks. Bring Kat, Mats and Lori Back and you'll see the true potential of Therion. Btw, I can't wait for Katarina's and Peter's new project!
+Dursun Nar I agree that Snowy ruined this show, but his performance here was different from his others with Therion. He is very theatrical, it's true, but that somehow gave a new air to the whole band. I don't think that his behavior goes against Therion's spirit, but it's all the other way around. Therion's music is VERY theatrical and they needed to show that on stage.The very Christofer Johnsson knew that and he was really pissed off when Snowy decided to leave therion, but then he took it with humor and gave Snowy a symbolic punishment, as you can see it in the video of Je n'ai besoin que de tendresse, where he gets whipped. I agree that he ruined this show but most of this performances were just great.
I do not agree with you, about Snow,he dressed like an animal because Therion means in greek ancient and modern language wild animal and he must screams like an animal, this is a show must be theatrical, even in opera some times especially in comedies have such elements.

Le gusta llamar la atencion se nota que es un egocentrico al querer ser el centro de atencion en todo el concierto. Los demas cantan y el interrumpe en todo momento. Me parece una gran falta de profesionalidad.

Entonces si canta de acuerdo a lo que pide la cancion se hace notar por eso mismo, por su gusto para adaptarse a lo que la musica pide. Que tiene ego? esta bien, que haga sus notas altas en dos o tres lugares donde todos lo van a elogiar, que lo haga con gusto y elegancia. Seria otra historia. Yo creo es solo inmadurez como cantante (o como persona ya que de ahi viene el cantante). Yo creo que tuvo un gran marco para formar parte de el y destacar cuando su momento era de hacerlo pero no tuvo la madurez. Tal vez nunca la tenga, verdad? Espero que si encuentre ese equilibrio un dia.
Este concierto de que año es? Si miran el Live Gothic del 2007 Snowy se comporta de un modo bastante diferente a comparación que aquí. Respeta los turnos de cada quien a la hora de cantar y hace un dúo muy bueno con Mats Leven. No sé qué le habrá picado acá.
