Amazing and fascinating story, as all that related to the magnificent titanic (ship of the dreams), thousands of blessings to you and your entire family. Hugs...
I am a retired Merchant navy Chief engineer, 74 now and during my time at sea sunk twice. I feel so proud of these men that did their duty to save others. Perhaps we were not glamorous like the deck officers, perhaps a bit rough round the edges, perhaps course and not well spoken but we knew our job and our duty
Wow, so moving. It's more gripping than fictitious Jack and Rose storyline of 1997 Titanic movie. Hollywood should have made a movie about engineers and firemen who sacrificed lives to keep the lights on until the ship sank.
@@newygreek I saw a interview with James Cameron said the love story was the only way he could get the studio on board. They thought no one wants to watch a movie when we all know the ending. These men were heroes and helped save more lives by keeping the lights on till almost the very end. 😢
A few of the Titanic survivors had mentioned about the bravery and sacrifice those engineers and firemen made to keep the lights on the ship. So glad this film is finally made to show the horror they faced.
I love the portration of the Engineers, the Strokers and the Firemen in the Boilerrooms cause they were the ones that sacrificed their lifes to keep the doomed ship afloat aslong as they could and the did a marvelous Job in keeping her afloat even though Andrews estimated she was only going to last at max 1 1/2 hours. I also love that fact that the Makers of teh Documentary included the Gentleman of the frist Class Smoking Room who were just awaiting there death and drank Brandy until the last. To conclude I love the Documentary because it depicts the Men who really saved so many lifes on the Titanic through delaying her sinking and shoing the emotional struggle they had while doing so. May these Heroes Rest in Piece.
I was disappointed by the movies writers who highlighted the Northern Irish Protestant stoker singling out his "Catholic " colleague for leaving the boiler room to go up top. When their were about fifteen non Catholic stokers making their way up top as well. Then the same Protestant stoker criticizes the Scottish electrician for complaining about having his wages reduced by four days. Guess what. The first thing "he" does when he meets the White Star managers is to criticize them for docking him four days pay. Typical British made propaganda. Make heros of their own kind, and denigrate and smear the other nationals and religions. And of course they papered over the biggest coward on the ship. The actual owner, Mr. Ismay, an Englishman who sneaked on to one of the overcrowded lifeboats dressed as a woman.
I wish this was in the movie. The heroes. The heart of the ship. The ones who sacrificed their lives for others and laid their lives down for ones they didn’t even know. What a moving documentary.
it is, it really is !! James Cameran did a good job with his version but this was just a different perspective , theres several ways the Titanic could have been illustrated, but so far, this one once I seen it, became and still is my number 1 fav. !!
Engineer Johnathan shepherd, who had broken his leg falling into a opening in the floor for the pumps died when a large current of water came into the room he was in. This was almost immediately after the wall of the room holding the water back failed. Stoker Frederick Barrett who survived the sinking saw the water come in and quickly cover Johnathan shepherd. He was the first victim of the titanic on it's maiden voyage. The people who died aboard the titanic before him were members of the construction crew who died building the ship. Rest in peace to all the crew and, passengers of the titanic who died during the maiden voyage as well as the men who died building the ship.
No matter how many documentaries I watch about Titanic, this moment of realization that "she will sink" always gives me a physical feeling of cold dread and shivers.
For me being an antique boiler fireman like men who worked on Titanic words can't describe how this makes me feel. This will forever be my favorite documentary, and movie. This tells a very real story.
They chose to die resisting the inevitable, than to submit to their fate. They fought to keep the great ship afloat for as long as possible. In doing so they achieved immortal status in the minds of people, and their sacrifice will never be forgotten.
@@aldenunion You can check all their names in the crew manifest, I'm sure. Check with encyclopedia Titanica ( thats a website ), it has all the crew names - and passengers as well.
All the movies about this disaster only show above deck happenings. It's about time some portrayal of the men fighting below decks to keep her afloat was made.
Agreed. They were unsung heroes. Titanic wouldn't have remained afloat with her lights burning as long as she did without their efforts. This was VERY moving. They kept her afloat for 2 hours and 40 minutes. That's pretty impressive if you ask me.
A Night to Remember shows action in the boiler rooms. They can’t show everything but that movie is the best one for showing the way it was in those times. The “Mills & Boon” movie of 1997 is rubbish.
@@jimcrawford5039 I'm gonna be honest. i HAD to look up, Mills and Boon to get context. I COULD have pretended to know what you were referencing like most people, but i'll say, after googling it, great reference haha
Much respect to the engineers on the Titanic. During that fateful night they all were doing their best to keep the ship's power running and keep the ship afloat as long as possible so other people can be saved. They never knew whether they would even have a chance to get off the doomed ship, but they worked until the end.
Ironically in 1812 Napolean went down in the Russian Winter, in 1912 the Titanic went down in the Atlantic and in 2012 Glasgow Rangers went down to division four.
Peculiar thing ! I don't fear heights, in fact I actually like being up in high buildings, or high trees as I once climbed as a kid. But it is the opposite that I fear , being closed in a cramped space. Clostphobia v. Astraphobia. I am quite at ease with later , but fear intensely the former.
at that point I’m sure they knew they were not gonna make it out alive, when they made the courageous decision to stay below and keep working till the end
As a firefighter I love the scene where Middleton goes back to help Kelly, they both knew they were doomed but chose to work their post till the very end so others could live. Bloody heros those lads, and all others who chose to do the same, bloody working class heros. Also Harvey not being willing to leave his mate.
Well thank you very much for you being a firefighter. Because you also put your life at risk with your job! 💗 Please stay safe and remember that you are also a hero in other people's eyes...
I am humbled by the courage of these me. Who consciously made the decision to save others, that they knew would result in a horrible death for themselves. May God grant them peace. Love is sacrifice.
An excellent Docu-Drama and a MUST have for any Titanic Buff. It's well produced and well acted. There are SO many facets to the whole Titanic Legacy. We're still uncovering realities we never even considered for 100 years. This barely touches on the whole Catholic-Protestant animosity that prevailed. Story-lines embedded within Story-lines.
I remember in the 1960,s in Conshohocken PA that same hatred prevailed in young men abandoned boys. These boys were second generation and they were mean. I knew to stay clear of them. There was a last gasp of Irish immigrants who came over in the 1950’s. My Aunt was one of them. She came over on the United States ocean liner.......which now rots away on the Delaware River. She married into a wasp family. We adored her. She made 5 cousins for me to grow up with. Romans aren’t appreciated because they laud their cornering on God......like If you weren’t Roman Catholic, you were lost. .....kind of reverse religion. So the unwelcoming when both ways.
@@kevinwalsh9253 - Roman Catholics were or are thought to believe they are the true religion and have a monopoly on God. The whole comment is a very good one and is quite clear if you think about it.
Joseph Bell and the rest of the RMS Titanic’s engineers along with the firemen were men of courage and are true heroes of that fateful April night. Godspeed to all of them.
Totally agree ! But why did the movies producers have to single out one particular case where the Irish Protestant attempts to shame his Irish Catholic colleague, who made the choice to go up on deck, even though there were clearly many more Protestant stokers joining him in the escape. And why did the producers 8gnore the fact that the biggest coward on the ship happened to be the White Star owner Lord Ismael. A wealthy Englishman who crept on to one of the overcrowded lifeboats dressed as a woman.
@@den264 Joseph Bruce Ismay did not dress as a woman to sneak onto a lifeboat, that is a lie told by the press of the time in order to damage his reputation. He helped passengers get onboard the boats and only entered one of the last lifeboats after checking that there were no more women and children nearby.
I like how Chief Engineer Joseph Bell referes to TITANIC like she's alive,"She's sighing" and "What's up old girl"others saying "She's hungry tonight" I know it's only talk but I like it..
Really hope more people watch this documentary, & remember the hidden heroes, who did what they could to save as many lives as they could. Very well done. Loved it!
I thought this was a brilliant film amazing i loved it well better than the Hollyweird 1997 blockbuster i like liam Cunningham doing the commentary on the titanic he was in the game of thrones series which was excellent👌👍🚢⚓🙏🕊
It is very sad that the ship all of the people that lost their lives on that ship my dear sister and my name is Gabrielle Rivas from Roslyn heights NY near new York city. my dear sister
May all those men that tried to keep the lights on for passengers to escape Titanic sacrificing there lives God Bless them and may they forever rest in piece never forgotten
Watching Titanic i was impressed that the lights were there till the end. Never thought about that someone needed to be in the powerhouse to keep it working. All electricians died
But according from a crew member's testimony recorded on tape (that I listened to a couple of days ago), every light went out after the ship broke in two pieces. He stated that no light was visible after that event. The people in the lifeboats saw only the silhouette of the ship parts sinking.
I didn't realize how much they did to try and stop the water. Titanic made it look like they were trapped in their compartments as well. Really great info!
This is the story that you never really see in any of the major Titanic movies. This is a very moving and honorable tribute to those forgotten heroes who remained below decks to save the passengers & the ship. Without these men operating the pumps & keeping the electric going the Titanic would have gone down quicker and been darker long before the actual sinking. A good docufilm and a very moving tribute!
These brave men gave their lives to keep the ship running while it was going down. The majority of those men did not even make it out of the bottom of the ship. They were down there the entire time. I cant even imagine how scared and frightened they were. What's sad is 9 times out of 10 they knew they were going to die But they still stayed down there and refused to abandon their posts. You have to admire their selfless act of heroism. Such bravery and honor on their parts. Their places in heaven were already reserved when they went home to be with god. God bless every one of those unselfish brave men that gave their lives during this tragedy. Everyone in the world should aspire to be just like these exceptional men and I mean that!!!!!!!
They have a memorial in Southampton dedicated to the engineers, with the goddess Nike watching over them. It's a lovely memorial, suggest searching up Southampton Titanic engineer memorial and look for yourself. I get the pleasure of seeing it daily during my walk through. Beyond brave.
Every documentary and movie I see about Titanic is about the stories that have already been told, the stories of the crew and passengers above decks in their scramble to survive, this is the first documentary that I have seen that tells the stories of the unknown heros of the Titanic, the men who stayed below to keep the lights on and slow the flooding as long as possible.
This, in it's essence has put more admiration and honor to those brave souls who died to the better end, on their posts until the last instances. Thank you for this. May all those brave souls, rest in peace.
I thought that I had seen every single one of the Titanic youtubes, but then I stumbled across this movie. Very well done, and a story that had not been told. Very moving.
I grew up just 6 miles from where Titanic was built and discovered the tragedy at age 10 when I read my dad’s copy of A Night to Remember. I was also a member of Belfast Titanic Society. This is, in my opinion, the best drama ever made about the tragedy. Well scripted, well acted and well directed.
Thank you for sharing this story. I came here by way of the OceanGate-Gate tragedy. As a former US Navy Sailor I appreciate the producers telling the story of the crewmen who fought to the very last to keep her afloat so the passengers had the maximal chance of survival. The engineering spaces on the ship are a masterfully reproduced replica as well as the working conditions.
This movie was very well made and terrific. All of those men, and their sacrifices, should never be remembered as only a footnote in history. Thanks to this film, perhaps they won't be.

Valor, Duty, Leadership, Sacrifice. Can one Man truly make a difference? My respect to these brave men who did their duty and died to save many others life. God bless you brave men!
I like this documentary because of the story it tells of the men's honor to duty and there fight to keep the power going even though the ship was dying, they fought to save her even to the very last breath and I salute the men down there
There were indeed good honest men of honor as you rightly say, but there was one particular man of no honor ! I allude to the man who owned White Star, Lord Ismay. The man who put women's garb on and then crept in to one of the overcrowded lifeboats to save his own miserable skin.
Everybody who's ever seen any of the documentaries and movies about the Titanic needs to see this. I've been an armchair Titanic buff for most of my life. I don't say this to seem like I'm an expert, or even well learned on the vastness of the subject or new theories in recent years about all the things that happened that night. I say that because at nearly 40 years old...I have never seen it from this perspective. I especially like that we never see the actual collision, and other than a few seconds of wide, long shots...we don't even see the view of the ship from outside. We don't see the craziness that happened up on deck with the attempts to abandon ship. No elaborate stunts or special effects. This was more viscerally real than almost anything I've watched about the short life of the RMS Titanic. I am so glad this excellent documentary was created, and doubly glad I found it and could watch it.

Titanic`s engineers were true heroes, every one of them the firemen, stokers, those men were fighting below decks to keep that ship afloat for 2 half hours, an hour and a half longer than Thomas Andrews thought. We should always remember those men as heroes!
I remember seeing this documentary on television during the 100th anniversary. I am glad to have found it again. The heroic efforts of the crew helped save the lives of many.

This has been the most amazing Titanic dramatizations I have ever seen. The actors were top-notch, and with the very detailed narration, have made one hell of a sobering and realistic full length reconstructions. Very sad piece of history which shows just how brave so many were, whilst under horrendous circumstances. RIP to all those souls who fought till the very very end.
Great documentary, just how I like. Recreating that moment, everything just like back in the 1912, makes me go back in time. Very interesting, and well performed. Thank you for uploading it.
Excellent! Fantastic to see select members of the crew as they do their best, and their duty, to save the doomed ship. No terrified and screaming passengers running around on the decks to distract us from this point of view. So many movies and documentaries were already made from that perspective. This documentary was extremely well done in my humble opinion. And thank you so much for posting this here. It is much appreciated!
Maybe these men didn't want your attention and recognition. If they cared about petty stuff like that, they wouldn't be making their much bigger sacrifice.
I got really emotional watching this. I’ve heard the story of titanic so many times but this film brings me a lot closer to the story than ever. The part of the pictures of the men who died who were in the film made me cry. Hands down the best film of titanic ever. May their souls rest easy. 🙏🏻✝️

This was really inspiring but very sad! The horror these poor people saw and the terror that they must have felt. I watch everything I can on the Titanic but this is the first time seeing it from the perspective of these poor men. I hope they are all resting in peace and are with their families in eternity!
Their job was to make sure passengers were able to evacuate a sinking ship in the middle of the North Atlantic. That's hardly comparable to say a job at a convience store....
The ship's engineers and workmen may be inspiring but that doesn't resolve the causes of workplace demotivation. They're barely related contexts. We do things differently now. You don't just tell people to not be unhappy with their jobs: you have to find the reasons for their demotivation and see what can be done about it.
I can honestly say all these men are better than me because i would've been panicking and crying like a baby this is a horrifying thought to be on a sinking ship freezing water your death almost certain that deep inside that beast i have so much respect for all these men.
Wonderful documentary, wish more of the selfless crewmen’s stories were told over the wealthy passengers. True unspoken heroes, they were. Thank you for telling their stories and releasing this on TH-cam! Probably the fastest I’ve subscribed to a channel. One minor note, current thought is that the coal fire and subsequent displacement of coal created a list that helped stabilize Titanic as she took on water. In fact, simulations have shown it gave her over double the estimated time of sinking as she wasn’t able to roll over. There is nothing to suggest the fire would have weakened her incredibly thick hull, especially as the damage was done by punching in and thus, opening rivets along their seam (as properly shown in this documentary), and not tearing through the steel itself. The actual damage done to Titanic was minuscule compared to what is normally depicted and supports her being made very well with good quality, for the time, materials and construction. Unfortunately, it was just long enough of an opening to make her sinking inevitable. Also, if anyone is interested in current Titanic research, game development, or history of the great Atlantic liners check out the channel Honor and Glory: Titanic. The boys eat, sleep, and breathe Titanic and have some fantastic videos of surrounding her history.

Yep - looks like it. The engine room scenes for 'A Night To Remember' were the similar engines at Cricklewood Pumping Station - alas long gone to the scrapyard now.

@@peterjohnson617 A ship that is "unsinkable" Is as ridiculous as the sea is wet and salty. And then in the end foundered above them, the ship splitting must have taken them by surprise as well, terrible, what brave heroic men and I mean that from a common mans perspective and not that jobs worth company man with a silver spoon up his arse, theyres nothing wrong with having money but when you have it and treat people below you in the financial pecking order like that, its disgraceful. They even conned passengers while they were in hospital beds in america whilst they were delirious and depressed and confused, bastards!
Paul Lindley I agree, it’s okay to be rich, but only if you don’t treat poorer people badly. It’s one thing for richer people to have more of the niceties & luxuries of life, but it’s wrong for rich people’s actual lives to matter while poor people’s lives don’t. That’s my take on it.

If this were in the movie it'll be a 6 hour movie. Duhhhhh

it is, it really is !!

That's right, we agree with you.

Yes indeed. Never forget those brave men!
They say they should have shut it all off.

Much respect to the engineers on the Titanic. During that fateful night they all were doing their best to keep the ship's power running and keep the ship afloat as long as possible so other people can be saved. They never knew whether they would even have a chance to get off the doomed ship, but they worked until the end.
The engineers were the heroes of the Costa Concordia wreck too.
I woulda been fuckin outta there. I didn't sign up to die.

An excellent Docu-Drama and a MUST have for any Titanic Buff. It's well produced and well acted. There are SO many facets to the whole Titanic Legacy. We're still uncovering realities we never even considered for 100 years.

The animosity you mentioned is shown in another good feature-long docudrama, this time about how the ship was built.
I like how Chief Engineer Joseph Bell referes to TITANIC like she's alive,"She's sighing" and "What's up old girl"others saying "She's hungry tonight" I know it's only talk but I like it..

Very well done. Remarkable actually.
They had emergency lights, some of which even stayed burning on the Stern after the break.
I'm an electrician and I'd tell them to get fucked, I gotta work tomorrow.
They're the only reason help came.
It’s heartbreaking
But according from a crew member's testimony recorded on tape (that I listened to a couple of days ago), every light went out after the ship broke in two pieces. He stated that no light was visible after that event. The people in the lifeboats saw only the silhouette of the ship parts sinking.
The engineers, firemen, electricians & crew of the Titanic should never be forgotte. Incredible men who went down with their ship as heroes

Right?! Heck Paddy made me swoon. He sounds like fun
This is *hands down* the best Titanic documentary I have *ever* seen! 💗
Great job with creating this masterpiece and telling the stories of the true heroes of that fateful night/early morning in the cold Atlantic ocean...💗
Those brave and dedicated men sacrificed themselves to give others a good chance at getting off the stricken ship...💗💗
May they all *Rest in Peace* 💐💗
Thank you so much for this great feedback!
The acting is superb
I salute these brave men
This is by far the best reanactment of the Titanic I've seen to date, it really made it personal and brought insight to the lives of the men who sacrificed themselves to save lives, thanks for uploading this. Great watch.
Thank you! We really appreciate that! Best regards, hc
Brilliant. Those men who gave their lives to save others. So moving it bring tears to your eyes. R.I.P xxxx
I had an ancestor that worked in the engine room on Olympic. These men are the real heroes of the Titanic disaster!
very good depiction of below deck. Must remember ~160 stokers, firemen, trimmers did survive out of 325 - most of the 2/3 were off shift work - Frederick Barrett, Wm Beauchamp working at time
but no engineer officers survived
Exactly, they fought to the end.
Yes trying to save others just my 343 brothers in FDNY did on 9/11
That was a sad, sad story of the men that fought behind the story of the heroism and the honor of the crew aboard the great ship as it foundered beneath them. I appreciate the efforts of the crew and can understand their view on their duties and responsibilities. I salute each and every one of these men for their willingness to do what needed to be done because it SAVED LIVES and because they knew that it was the right thing to do.
Yet that was the best ending ever. I know everyone was rooting for Parry.
Tina screw poor people.
This is the best documentary/movie I've ever seen about the Titanic, and the best docudrama, as well. No unnecessary drama, so informative, such awesome actors! And you acnt ell that those making this documentary loved this ship, too. The way you speak about her and show her
I was born and grew up in Southampton. My Grandma told me that families in Southampton lost a relative on the Titanic working below decks. There is a beautiful memorial in one of the parks in Southampton dedicated to the Titanic disaster.
Holy moly i was on the edge of my seat watching this entire documentary.
