      @@ceoofdieng1905Right here with you. I didn't enjoy it on my first playthrough, but on my second I 100%'d it and read every codex entry as they came and fell in love with the world building. I was very immersed and really focused on role playing that time around and was really proud of my Ryder at the end of the game.

    Really enjoyed the game. I loved how the aliens were inspired by H.R Giger, i loved how vast and open it felt, and not at all baren. It actually felt good exploring, and listening to the dynamic chatter of the crew.
    I loved that it all took place in one star cluster, there's no mass relays here, no galactic travel available. It reminds you that there's a lot more stars in these vast places, and suggests that colonies number in the thousands across the milkyway.

    When I played Andromeda first time, we had some extremely hot weather and my PC was overheating, I was sweating like mad, which made this planet really feel scorching... and that's after I replayed the trilogy the winter before, having to wear blanket and knitted socks during Noveria))) The atmosphere in Mass Effect is really good.

    Andromeda certainly had its flaws (after all Bioware's games in general have been decreasing in quality) but it was still a fun game in its own right. I have mostly fond memories of it.

      I think they reached a peak with Mass Effect 2. They were progressively getting better since first Baldur's Gate, its sequels setting the template, then NWN being technical improvement, and KOTOR being the pinnacle of RPGs, and staying then until Shepard stepped on the Normandy.
      Their inventory systems always sucked though. From the Infinity Engine boxes and Tetris in NWN to endless list of pictures KOTOR and just_text one in first ME.

    • @Oshaoxin
      @Oshaoxin 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Didn't like how they portrayed the Krogan. The female Krogan aren't supposed to travel out, because they are too valuable to Krogan society. Don't get me wrong, they are fighters and have say in Krogan 'politics', but because of the genophage and the constant clan wars, the females were protected at all costs. When Krogan lose their females, the fate of their clan is decided. The only reason they overly represented strong female Krogan is because of forced diversity you find throughout the game, and that's one of Andromeda's biggest maladies. They could've worked on a better Mass Effect story instead of forcing in all that unnecessary baggage.
      I finished the game recently, it's not as bad as I used to think when I couldn't even finish the game before getting bored. I still give it a 6/10 which is a fairly decent score. I have to say I liked the intro, with Ryder's father and Pathfinder transfer. But the game kinda got stale and repetitive after that, with a few good parts here and there. Nice graphics though, wouldn't you say?

      @@jefftharp9177 I actually played it even more recently and I'd up the score to 7/10. It's something of an acquired taste I suppose and after a few playthroughs over the years, it feels like it gets better.

The gameplay itself is really great, the music, designs, etc. I never played Anthem, which I heard was pretty blah, but I did hear that it had decent gameplay as well. Got around to play this game again after 2 years, so many great themes not on the official soundtrack... GA, if you get around to it, could you make an hour-mix of the theme that plays in New Tuchanka? It seems to be different from the basic exploration theme of Elaaden, or at least I couldn't find it while listening to this one.

    Andromeda has plenty of REALLY glaring flaws, but the graphics (specifically the lighting and particle effects) and environments are decidedly not part of that group. I also really liked the way they did the skill system.
    Hated the writing though. Half the cast I actively disliked and I thought the story and worldbuilding were utter crap.

    • @CrazzedKor
      @CrazzedKor 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      My main issue was Addison, people being rude to you until you earn their approval is so old now always skip her dialogues in replays. I liked all the tempest crew, really like Ryder as a character because they are such a departure from Shepard which suits for a new episode. Ending mission was really cool but the ending itself was poor, game was desperate for a couple of DLCs that take place after the end. Shame it'll never happen, nor will we likely ever play as Ryder again. Loved Andromeda as a starting point.

    • @KasumiRINA
      @KasumiRINA 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The atmosphere was brilliant, unfortunately, upgrading the graphics to EA's Frostbite engine cost us the animation bugs and dead faces. My main issues were gameplay, though: no squadmate customization or orders, can't change their costumes and weapons, only three skills at the same time and cooldown if you want to change, say, from singularity, throw and overload to charge, lance and a buff. In ME1-3 you could use ALL skills you learned and can bind 9 to hotkeys on PC, rest with menu... also, all Asari but PB looking the same was weird.

    As an avid mass effect fan for basically a decade, I hate Andromeda with such a passion, however the soundtrack and graphics were incredible, it really depresses me a little whenever I replay it (to quill my thirst for mass effect) because it could have been the best mass effect ever, but it was totally ruined by the extremely bad writing and the pandering on making dumb characters relevant in a super terrible way (example: Cora and Sarissa deflecting a fuckton of missiles WITH A DAMN BIOTIC BARRIER COVERING AN ENTIRE ARK AND THEN DEFLECTING EVERY.SINGLE.ONE.OF.THEM BACK AT THE KETT SHIP because muh gurrrl power, absolutely canonically impossible and stupid). It's why despite it's really good couple of things I can't forgive the game.

    • @SwobyJ
      @SwobyJ 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      It wasn't Cora mostly, but Sarissa. Barriers being her supposed expertise, the script included this. And powerful barriers and missile deflections were already things, with the harder part being the sustaining of the barrier, not the power of it. And yes, biotics were meant to be that powerful for the best users of it, that's why elements of humanity were obsessed with obtaining it and parts of galactic society were leery of it even after centuries of getting used to it. But the package together of the scene we got was overblown, especially as we didn't see Sarissa completely wiped to the point of hospitalization afterwards.

    • @kappaklaus2671
      @kappaklaus2671 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SwobyJ Definitely not possible, look at Jack or Samara from ME 2. They were both some of the best biotics in the galaxy, especially Jack, who was raised as an experiment to become to most powerful biotic wielder ever, and both of them could barely hold a small barrier for a few minutes to protect three people from the collector swarms. Either Jack and Samara are just really weak, or MEA just included that scene without thinking of the previous lore. And MEA being the badly written shitshow that it is, I'm rooting for the latter.

    • @SwobyJ
      @SwobyJ 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@kappaklaus2671 Jack and Samara are actually relatively weak for the Citadel species. Samara is a Matron that has specialized in hunting but not biotic mastery, and Jack is among the best of humanity at biotics, and mostly better than Miranda, but with only offensive self-training and without Miranda's 'blueprint' and diligence. (If Miranda had Jack's raw biotic potential, she might indeed have that MEA power, or rather reach humanity into the top tier) The concept of the suicide mission is that you are picking up some of the highest skilled *available* (by Cerberus judgement) for a mission that no one is actually prepared for. Grunt can 'hold the line' but he has never actually had to. Tali can hack the vents but she has never been tested with this tech. Neither Jack nor Samara are the best biotics in the galaxy but the were the best prospects for the mission (again when inserting Cerberus needs and bias, sometimes overruled by Shepard).
      I don't want to defend MEA. I think there's a lot to go on ranting about with it. But one publicly handpicked skilled asari, specialized defensively (all it takes is a line about her that I think was there?), trained particularly biotically, using all her 'juice' without reservation, and some 'miracles' might happen, if only for one occurence that even the subjects wouldn't be sure of until it happens. And like it or not, that's MEA's theme of making in-universe-realistic dreams come true. (Like the shapespearean Tempest) Krogan births occuring, Quarian/others cooperation (the book), danger lands made hospitable, AI merged into organics seemingly genuinely helpfully, technowizardry enabling giant fleets, biotic extents pushed forward in necessity, it's all 'magic' on smaller scale then MET but with more people trying at it (instead of a wider but more accidental and slapdash ME3 war effort). I don't think it's written well. But one great Asari managing to hold off a ship's attack very temporarily is no bother to me, with supporting dialogue. I think we also underestimate the likely true duration of the 'long walk' me2 sequence and how taxing it is over time to plug all possible gaps against a swarm of tenacious little monsters. (There's a thing in ME games of shields being super strong, through something with the mass effect, but exploited weak points getting you through, in this case it would be the swarmers)
      Basically, it's a Mulligan. I'll give it to MEA. It's fine. It's not something to expect from any biotic but it's the far extent of their power, like Aria breaking through shielding 'by hand', etc. There's conventional training and then there's the miracles that mass effect fields allow, in this case through biotics. The science is in-canon never fully understood.
