I have 40 years in the business. I get all of my jobs in person.. Cold calling is a waste of time. Yes you may get some jobs but being able to first look at the location,create a plan and find out who you need to talk too. I went after very high end companies who are willing to pay for a really good job. I worked for the owner of the Boston Red Sox,The largest Hedge Fund in the world and many other financial institutions.

True you gots to qualify your customers to see if they have the Benjamins, or if they are a cheap looky looky. You gots no idea how many times i drove to give an estimated to have have them tell me, Ganzo or Boris or Pedro is twice as cheap. Me " WHAT!!!?"
I really appreciate these tips however, it only addressed how to handle INCOMING traffic through a website or conference(word of mouth). What about being the initiator ? besides SEO how can I drive traffic to my website? I conduct a lot of cold calls and emails i'm pounding the pavements with my company information. What else helps?

I know how to write up my bid/proposal but don't know if I ask them for the measurement or if I measure it myself. If you can help me I would really appreciate it

Hey Ken, for larger commercial bids, there are often multiple buildings, floorwork and carpet care with hundreds of thousands of square feet often with supply needs. These can take days or weeks to properly prepare :)
Hey Mark, not sure what you mean by "cleaning bidding websites", but I would encourage you to build relationships with your target market and not depend on "websites" for whatever it's worth :)
Great question Victor- I started with a franchise and it depends a lot on the franchise and your personal ability to create systems and attract customers on your own- they aren't cheap, but if you can't do those two things, they can save you a TON of money and time- I have a video coming out where I feature one of the owners of Two Maids and a Mop where we dive deep into that question- make sure to check it out :)

I started with a franchise also also. Gets the ball rolling, clears destructions and focuses you on a structured goals. The money was for the hardcore army training you need to think and be the business person you need to become. Oh with added benefits of course.
Hey Cody- the process is the same, when you call them, you want to see if they have pain and if they DO have pain and want your help solving it, you set the same ground rules as if they called you. If they don't have pain, or don't want your help, move on :)

A couple of hours? What are you bidding on??? The longest I've ever taken to do a bid is 45 minutes and that's a long bid.
