I would love to see you do a little history on brands. I worked for Clinique a million years ago and I think you’d be surprised about the influence in skincare. People used to get PISSED that the skincare was a double cleanse system and now it’s the norm. And the importance of exfoliation. Granted, the makeup is not great but I’m sad that they get left out of the conversation completely.
I'll say, when I was in high, Clinique was all we would buy, on Mom's credit card of course, 😅😅😅 We loved it, you got the bag of free stuff, they had that super thin, low to almost no bristle wand mascara that absolutely shook my world when they discontinued it!!

Wow. Honestly I heard of Clinique but haven't heard of the double cleanse technique until recently, like a few years ago through YT.
I think more credit should be given to brands that have stood the 'test of time,' too often they get labled as boring or 'old lady'.'

I would love to hear you guys talk about the super posh products that seem so exclusive and not for us regular peons like Armani makeup and Le Mer skin care and probably other brands too that I am not sophisticated enough to know about. Yes, like, "If I had the money what is worth spending/splurging?" I have armani power fabric concealer which I swear by but best believe I bought during a sale.
Forma also owns Jaclyn Cosmetics. Jaclyn has 0$ invested into Jaclyn Cosmetics, she gets paid for being the face of the brand.
Jaclyn sold it as a family brand, a small business, an indie brand, when in reality she doesnt even own the brand, she's just the face of it.

I don't think people should be hesitant to critique Fenty Beauty. Lancome, Estee Lauder and MAC were shade inclusive before it became a "thing" on beauty You Tube. For me, Fenty has very few standout products.
Maybe, pre Fenty beauty I could find shades in MAC but never Estee Lauder or Lancome and I'm really just medium dark. Fenty pushed pretty much every other brand to become shade inclusive. As for actual product, you're right that there are no real must haves outside of complexion products
I really agree that Fenty has gone mainstream, I don't wear neutral lipsticks and I really enjoyed fenty's edgy shades and they're gone. 😩
First of all, you are clearly white if you think that. None of those brands were shade inclusive to people of color besides MAC. Hardly ANYONE was shade inclusive until Fenty came out with their range that also considered undertones. I used to go to the makeup section and just automatically go to the darkest color and hope it wasn’t too light.
If you’re idea of shade inclusive is biracial then sureeeeeee 😂😂😂 but no fenty brought inclusivity to dark skin woman not just multiple shades of tan and medium like other brands. I know you’re older but it doesn’t hurt to fact check what you’re saying rather than trying to remember something from about a decade or so ago.

I actually love Catrice because here in Germany they have a huge selection of colors and different products. Unfortunately they are bad with the foundation and concealer shade range and most of the darker shades are online exclusives 😢
Ahh that’s great to hear! Idk why here in the US they’ve scaled back everything. You can barely find anything but the mascaras and a few powder products 😞
They discontinued selling Catrice in Canada. But I really love their High Glow Mineral Highlighting Powder in shade 01.
I’m fair skinned and it has the perfect silvery pink colour of a natural highlight for my skin tone. It is also not sparkly or glittery. I stocked up on 3 more. It’s difficult to find any other highlighter that would be a dupe - drugstore or high end. Most highlighters are either too golden, pink, or iridescent which has a unflattering purple shift.
This has so quickly become my most favorite podcast❤! I look for it every Sunday without fail!!

Bare Minerals had these 4 or 5 item box sets for a full face. Sephora at Christmas time had them with free brushes too. That was my intro into really applying make up with any technique. It came with a beautiful step by step booklet. Mind you this was 2004 to 2006. I had bought the same type of eye set with a natural every day color combo I wore for work. It was my serious adulting look lol.
To me Bare Minerals seems stuck in a time warp. I loved them so much I want to see a new launch and be excited for them.
So did It Cosmetics! Got it from QVC in my late twenties or early thirties. Came with instructions. That was my intro into adult makeup too. Bare minerals was my first high end makeup purchase. I got it for Christmas and it was ground breaking back then.

I totally agree with you regarding “About Face” I didn’t even know it was Halseys brand. The matte fluid eye paint in Weightless seriously makes my green eyes pop. The tones, colors, hues and ease of use is outstanding! I could blend it with eyes closed using the elf Dual ended brush! Done ❤️
Yeah I had no idea About Face was Halsey's brand either. I haven't been able to get any yet but I can't wait to try the fluid eye paint.

I can't believe Danessa Myricks wasn't on here, somehwere, even as an honorable mention! She is so stinking inclusive, and I love all of her products. I also feel like colorfix was the OG multiuse waterproof, budgeproof, cream product! But I definitely need the vintage inspired brand you guys were talking about PLEASE (Cmon Erin!!) I know Besame exists, but they get kind of cliche with their disney stuff, tbh. Just my opinion.
21:02 - I literally use elf matte finish setting spray, have for years, & I’ve never once had an issue with buildup or clogging, & it works INCREDIBLY ! Literally in love with so many elf products they have some of the best products for the cheapest prices

I've only tried the secure the Blur primer from OneSize, but I ordered their new sweat proof primer. I'm super excited to use it. I had to do about 2.5yrs of chemo a few years ago, and ever since the first round I have pretty crazy hot "flashes"(that last like an hour. Not a damn flash) and I also start sweating whenever I have to talk to someone. So im hoping it actually works😂
I want to try their blush trios, they're just so expensive😢

@@krystinaxxlea I have tried it! It’s definitely amazing for sweat, but not necessarily oil control. It’s better for external sweat and humidity, where I think the glow recipe blur serum or the NARS smooth and blur is better for oil control! ❤️

Colorpop is my favorite brand! I'm celiac so i need makeup to be gluten free (i mean lipstick is lipstick. Sometimes a little is gonna end up on that sandwich and its getting eaten) it is awesome for my everyday routine. Elf is my second because it doesn't stay on my face well. It may just be me but colorpop stays on my face better.

Omg!!!! I got so excited hearing you mentioning Hindash. What an incredible makeup artist he is. His work is truly outstanding, it looks so effortless and I love how his looks are pointed towards trends but still look different somehow. He Exactly knows what looks best and everyone who i have seen got their makeup done by Hindash just got their beauty enhanced by many times. His creation seems more towards enhancing what's the prominent and good features of a face rather than hiding what shouldn't be the attention and there's a very thin line to it. Hindash brand is not available in my country but I would love to try it one day. Thankyou so so much for mentioning his brand, I truly believe he deserves so much more.
A struggling celebrity brand that I think of is Florence by Milii Bobbie Brown. That makeup I have seen ZERO talk about that brand and the product gives me very claires, teens first makeup products.
It’s currently a beige bitch world. I hate it as a color lover. My place is all jewel tones and mixed metals and it’s so hard to find. In a more recent episode you spoke about chairs in yellow or pink- been there!!!

I was so sad to hear about Tarte being problematic. I have really sensitive eyes and their mascara is the best for me. I’m definitely on the hunt for something else. I can’t keep giving them so much money.
I hung on to Tarte for the same reason, but their mascara stopped working for my sensitive eyes. Ilia's are much better.

Love hourglass... its my top! Followed by Charlotte tilbury, natasha denona for top luxury brands. My top chemist brands (Australasian for "drugstore" lol), are Flower (drew Barrymore's range so so good and SO cheap dont know why its not covered more on youtube), Revolution & l'oreal.

Having worked on the inside of a product marketing team in retail, i can confirm bad management force their teams to rush / churn out bad products to meet falling profit margins and insist on ignoring staff recommendations to rethink, use data to inform ideation and decision-making... its the better leadership at the top that enables expertise in the teams to deliver amazing on-point products
Hi sweet boys! Love the show! Learned a lot too. It is so good to find a place where us normal everyday mamas can learn about brands and formulas from amazing makeup artists!! Thank you! I heard a slight dis from Johnny on Clinique… is it a bad brand? I do use skin care from them and was just wondering. Secondly, that story of leaving your brushes behind cracked me up and really made me feel for you. I did pageants when I was a youth and had that very thing happen… Lord have mercy, the scramble that took place.. drama, drama, DRAMA!!! Of course all the other girls love it when you screw up like that… it’s a new level of dog eat dog!! Anyway, it made me think… I wonder if there is an “everything” palette that you might recommend for a traditional vacay! No real glam makeup needed but wanna look nice. Maybe that could be a whole show… “What would Johnny Ross pack in a vacay bag?” Be blessed❤

2:03 I get what your saying about Celebs coming out with all these brands but honestly Scarlett Johansson makes sense on why she would. She’s very big into skincare, she’s known to have flawless beautiful skin & when she was first making a name, she would talk about her skincare routine a lot. Like she was told to anti-aging products when she was so young like 20. I mean I get the whole “just bc you use moisturizer & wash your face does that give you knowledge to have your own brand” argument. It just makes more sense for her to do skin then it would be to do a makeup line or a perfume line.
I love, love, love e.l.f.!!!!!!!! I mean their brushes and sponges to their putty bronzers and blushes (matte and Luminous) to their halo glow liquid and powders, to concealer and powder bronzer and blushes to everything! Lol!
