I swear even though there is this 90s throwback/Y2K fashion thing going on, people are STILL locked into the Kardashian look. I was a teen in the 90s, and we had a variety of bold choices (that may not have been good choices but were better than bland & beige). Like frosted shimmer lipstick, dark gothy makeup, colored eyeliners, body glitter, or shiny eyeshadow. It was a LOT, but it was more than sad shades of beige makeup everywhere and baaaaad ombre lips with nonexistent lipliner blending (look up beef lips lipstick images, and you'll see it and not stop seeing it).

Johnny - your makeup re-dos are amazing! My husband could care less about makeup and I’ve shown him the three you’ve done now and he’s been shocked each time. You really do have a way of bringing out the best in someone’s features.
It would be really cool if you took these re-dos into a more permanent part of either the podcast or on your channel. It’s such a good way to break down what works and what doesn’t. It so beautifully illustrates a change that can be made to make a big difference. You could even have viewers submit photos of their makeup and use that for teaching how to to update a look to take it to the next level.

Yeah.. You can learn so much with these makeovers! I try to absorb all this information (especially regarding forty years old) to make sure to get a nice makeup look... If they would write a book about makeup, I would jump on it! 😅

Since the show kicked off with this topic, I did a quick search, for songs and albums to qualify for the 2024 Grammys the release date was Oct. 1, 2022 - Sept. 15, 2023. TS Midnights was released on Oct 21, 2022.

You're so right about poor Kelly--whoever did those eyes needs a written warning. I'm of the age of heavy black liner and even I'm slowly giving it up because it just doesn't work anymore.

So glad to see you guys are feeling back to yourselves on better days, but I'm also still so glad that you vented about the reality of the beauty industry. I learned so much, and you really made me think, which I love. It's too easy for us to just go with the flow and ignore the slights that don't directly effect us while remaning oblivious to the depth of injustices impacting others. And on another note... I'm sort of obsessed with Kevin's nails.

The plastic surgery procedure is called buccal fat removal to make your face narrow and sculpted. It's very popular, or so I'm told by a friend who is a nurse in a plastic surgeon's office. Why? No idea, but then again that's how I feel about most "popular" trends. Love your critiques. E definitely needs you both! ♥♥💜

@pinkbubblesnake I agree. It really ages people imo. Of course we lose fat and muscle volume as we age so it's good to have it in your face as opposed to not. Once the buccal fat pads are removed, they're gone. They may regret when they're older because buccal fat helps to have a smoother more youthful appearance and it won't be there anymore. To each their own, but I definitely won't do it. lol
I don't listen to Taylor's music but I like her spirit. I don't see her snatching anything from anyone. The people coming after her already have a problem with her.

Okay not tied to the video but I tried the About-Face foundation because of you two trying it out. I was using Dior because of you two, but the About-Face is more in my price range and omg I have never looked so good in foundation! Like I have mature oily skin, and I really can't get over how flawless I look in it, and it doesn't settle into my wrinkles. Just wanted to share because I love seeing you two try and give your opinions on makeup. So thanks because I might have passed this over otherwise! Thank you both for the hard work and being honest about the stuff you use.

I think it's like that with celebs in general. Have you ever seen how ppl talk about guys from korean boy bands like BTS, EXO etc.? Same thing. Hyper analysing every move and a whole ass drama can start among the fans just because in a 4 second clip one of the band members glanced at another one in a way that ppl interpreted as "hostile". Or god forbid one of the guys was "too nice" to a girl from a girl group publicly and ppl cropped it, and are now creating a whole story about how they're dating which in the world of K idols is a big NO NO, and ppl get pissed and send death threats. ☠️

Talking about creme blushes/creme products as opposed to powders "for beginners." As a person who only ever uses makeup at special events (so like...once per year), I'm terrified of creams instead of powders. They are utterly beyond me. I would LOVE to see the two of you doing individual tutorials for absolute makeup kindergartners like me. "This is a brush for X (I saw your brush video, but I felt like it was for people who already understand makeup brushes & I've never used anything but my fingers or the applicator in the package /ducks to avoid your gasps of horror)."

Hello guys, Johnny kept commenting on the sunkin in look of some of the women. I think that is the Bucal fat (i think that's what it's called) removal. I had watched a video of a plastic surgeon who was talking about it and he said it's removal of cheek fat and it makes the mouth not close normally. Maybe it's just me but a plastic surgery "trend" is a fool's errand as trends come and go and now you've surgically altered your body.

Always love your analyses of the makeup and explaining and improvements - also, Kevin, I am SO envious about you being able to do a dark lip. I have too thin lips to do a bolder lip in a flattering way without trying the overlining thing, and I feel like it looks like I ate the lipstick. I know exactly what you mean about a lot of celebrities looking more sunken in. Ive been hearing a lot about buccal fat removal (the fat in your lower cheeks that make your face fuller). I think it severly ages those that get the procedure done.

Hey Johnny and Kevin LOVE the makeup police episodes! On the Celine Dion and Taylor Swift thing : I think it came out afterwards that because of Celine's Stiff Person Syndrome her coming out was a huge deal as she doesnt do public appearances as much anmore, and the nominees were told beforehand that if they won they were just supposed to take the award and let her slip quietly into the back. They were warned not to touch her to keep her comfortable etc
So no matter who won Celine Dion wasn't getting a hug or a handshake or too much attention from the winner. The Grammys were so respectful of her boundaries and her health while still honouring her as an icon and having her be involved in this award and celebration, so it's great that the artists who were nominated (and the winner) respected that.
