I did one year with a 357 magnum using hunting rounds. But I sold my GP100 a while back for $ to get something for my son. I’m sure some would say that’s to weak a round to hunt with even with hot loads blah blah blah, but when you need food it’s better than a rock is where I stand on that matter. A well placed shot is the key.
Lol, in the right spot it does the job, All the wannabe experts forget about the round that has probably killed more deer than any other, The .22lr, just cause it ain't legal don't mean doesn't get er done! Lol
It's commendable to add that challenge to the hunt and I'm tempted, though this year it's a Maverick 88 with Federal rifled slugs to get that doe and buck that's been eating my garden all year.

Due to a hand problem, I will not use my flintlock this year. I will be using a Colt Peacemaker in .45 with my left(non shooting hand). I will be using some defense loads at about 750 fps.
10-4. Let me know how it goes.
I’m taking mine this year. I’ve taken one the last several years but always taken the shot with my rifle. Maybe this year is the year. Usually take the gp100 in .357 or the redhawk in 45 colt. I got a redhawk in .357 this year that I might take.

So yea I took a little buck yesterday with archery equipment. Originally I did a video on accepting the handgun challenge, I was gonna use the 10" 44 magnum contender. Now as I only have one more tag I have changed my mind. I am gonna use the new open sights magnum research 454 casull. When I took it to the range it shot really well. Years ago I did harvest a dessent pronghorn buck with the contender.

Good stuff, ive been wantin to try it, just been kinda nervous to, i hate trackin or not makin a good hit. Im a pretty damn good shot, i just got this thing in the back of my head, i dont know. I'm going to try here in Mississippi. It's been dry here too. We have a lot of fire restrictions in place for months now since it was so dry. We just now finally got rained today and it's going to rain tomorrow. Pretty good. Fire restrictions got pulled today so we'll be looking pretty good. We pretty much been just like you next door in Alabama. I'm just hoping I can be able to hunt on my property and be able to get at least a doe if not a buck. I'm going to try to use my 45 Colt conversion pistol and see if I could get one. I'll have to set up a blind in one of the pastures to try to get one.
Good luck!
@plowboysghost Thanks brother
Lol

Sadly no. I can't even rifle hunt anymore. Lost the woods I used to hunt in as the fella's kids finally got old enough to hunt. Nothing against the man of course. Your children come first. After that I would hunt my father's field but a few years ago a fella bought the land at the end of it and built a house there. That combined with the local Amish trapping in the small strip of trees between the fields means no more deer and no safe direction to shoot. I won't do public land as that's too dangerous. I didn't make it back from Afghanistan just to get shot in the woods by some drunk guy on opening day.
