The Gray dial with rose gold stars version of this watch looks absolutely insane. Such a beautiful piece. If Zenith had the brand recognition of AP, that watch would have blown up.
The Defy Classic is its own unique looking design while the Skyline just looks too much like a Royal Oak homage. The Classic also looks better proportioned on the wrist

I own both as well as the Chronomaster Sport Panda and absolutely adore each in its own unique way, but if I had to pick just one between the Skyline and the Classic, even though the Skeleton is so nice and light, it would probably be my Blue Skyline because of its strap versatility, sick movement, heft and bezel shape. Thank god I own both of these beauties and don't have to choose 🙂

I saw the Zenith chrono with the 1/10 second chrono hand and the traditional three colour sub-dials recently. That is a killer watch and in chrono function the fast second hand makes sense. Running around on a three hander like that would not be for me. Massive no!!

In terms of the best deal for an integrated bracelet, I prefer the Santos De Cartier Large which is actually cheaper and I think is a better looking watch, comes with a second strap made out of leather, 100m water proof, quick change band, no tool link removal and an 8 year warranty too. Best deal out there.

I only recently started my journey of watch collecting and I chose defy classic over the skyline. Reason being is the overall feel to the watch was much better with the skeletonize dial and the blue ring just inside the bezel gave it contrast to the overall colour layout, a fine touch in my opinion. The 10 second subdial on the skyline was there to simply show it has a El Primero movement and I think it's rather useless. If I wanted to use the El Primero movement, would have considered buying chronomaster sport or defy extreme instead. Also the old 4 star symbols on the dial with the current 5 star logo on the watch doesn't work for me, it feels a bit confusing. If Zenith wanted to pay tribute to the old logo, they could have used it on all aspects on the watch for this model only, would have made it more unique. So instead of buying the skyline which was readily available now, I searched online for the discountinued defy classic. Even when brand new condition only had leather strap model available I still bought it, and now I'm buying the titanium strap to change it over to for a complete titanium feel.
Being an owner of the skeletonized discontinued model, I can admit there are a lot of positives with the Skyline. I love the quick strap change upgrade. Oh how I wish this was a part of the classic. I also like the new crown. I prefer bigger crowns versus smaller ones as they provide better grip and greater presence. The new bezel shape is also an upgrade, but only slightly in my opinion. Many good upgrade options. However, to your point, the unbalanced dial due to that pointless small seconds hand ruins the whole package for me. Why put it at the 9 O'clock which unbalances the dial? Why make it a 1/10 rotation that few can use, instead of the standard 60 seconds? These were mind boggling decisions that I can't wrap my head around. If it could've been a standard 60 seconds, but placed at the 6 and maybe even blend the date into the small seconds.... that would've been much preferable. Good try Zenith... back to the drawing board.
I just hope watches Skyline smaller 1-2 mm, dial should better, display back should have some yellow marking. Anyway, im looking for v2-v3 version of skyline, that dial make me think it combine from alot of circle

Just wondering if you've experienced a faint clicking sound when the rotor spins on the El Primero movement? Maybe not particularly this one, but the Poker Chip or any others? The sound is most likely the ratchet click every 1-2 spins of the rotor, sometimes I can even hear a double click on my El Primero... It's the same sound when you wind the watch manually very very slowly, you can hear those higher pitched clicks :)
I know you love the defy line, and don't get me wrong your new watch looks sick! But I think you should have added a chronograph from them, especially the chronomaster original 38mm such a sick watch and historically significant. Only costs a little more than a defy and has one of the best movements you can find in the price category
I just can’t do it. Every time I look down at my wrist, it will be there to mock me - good luck finding a Royal Oak. Zenith is a pretty cool brand, but I wish they have the courage and confidence to be themselves, and stop trying to copy Rolex and AP designs. The El Primero was “updated” to look like a ceramic Daytona knockoff, and the Defy was pretty much the result of copying Royal Oak’s homework. It’s frustrating because Zenith could be so much more if they play their cards right.
Better get a Tissot prx . Zenith is a loose money trap . It is a has being brand .it is like VC and blancpain people try to hype them and prices go nowhere compared to others
Unless you don't buy watches to make money or flip them? And speaking of HYPE, sorry but people are over hyping ROLEX, AP and Richard Mille lol that's why they are selling for such crazy money. If you're into watches for horology, not for the flex or flipping then no hype is needed to appreciate Zenith and their El Primero movements. Same with Vacheron, noone needs to "hype" them as they are one of the best watch manufactures out there.

Rolex and AP are pretty much the only luxury watches to have not hyped at all. There is no star or vip not now but for 70 years that doesn’t own at least one Rolex . Doesn’t need any hype at all. Zenith and VC are dead brands that’s all and the only zenith connection people talk about as well as you know is basically when they were making watches for Rolex otherwise nobody cares about their recent efforts to reinvent themselves unsuccessfully I might add . Only other one worth mentioning is JLC and even them only 1 watch matters .

Zenith makes great watches, bought the chronomaster sport this year and it became my favorite watch in my collection.

I only recently started my journey of watch collecting and I chose defy classic over the skyline. Funny watch. Should be compared to Tissot PRX, etc. Tried on the Zenith 2 times already. Feel so cheap. I think it is over priced.
