      It’s very simple. You lay the frunk down gently. Place both hands alongside the logo and press down. You do not throw it down like with regular cars. People who make a fuss out of closing the frunk are …. well, you know.

    • @Megabear90
      @Megabear90 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The tires have a lot of stretch, there is little to no rubber to protect the wheel. With the perfomance model you will get curb rash just parallel parking on a low curb (which is required in a lot of Europe). I got small scratches in one of my wheels driving off of a small angled curb. It's ridiculous. My winter wheel set is a little wider and I don't have a single scratch on them after 4 years.

    Sounds like you overall loved the Tesla. I have FSD in mine, a 2022 Model Y and never get phantom breaking or had anything temporarily taken from me, its weird how others do. It slows for changes in speed limit signs, but other than that it doesn't phantom break. I also never get strikes, I guess I pay attention to the road, and when that blue thing pops up on the screen to pay attention, I scroll up once on the volume knob. To me, complaining about the best self driving system in the world would be like if there was an iron man suit that can fly, but not 100% perfect yet. To me its the best car ever. If you ever come up to Vermont, I can show you some really cool tricks, especially with the S3XY buttons that make driving it 100% better.

    • @EricMina
      @EricMina  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Did you ever notice how the Iron Man suit kept on getting upgraded in every movie. Because there was problems with it and it kept on getting upgraded because he figured out the problems. Just like when Ant-Man was able to go into a suit. He came up with a nanotechnology so they couldn't get in there anymore. That's just one example of like 10 upgrades. Maybe I'm being hypercritical for you. I remember listening to a speaker say technology is really good when you don't have to think about it.

    Thanks for taking the time to prepare and post this review. It is extremely useful for someone who is considering purchasing their first EV.
    One minor suggestion: you might have been clearer that if the driving monitoring system faults you for not paying what it deems to be sufficient attention, it will lock you out ONLY of the self-driving functions -- you are NEVER locked out of manual control of the vehicle.

    • @EricMina
      @EricMina  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Very very true. It's more of an annoying concept. You pay for a car and it's features. You would like them to work. The lane departure. Not full self driving. Even that one. On every car I have owned with that feature has naver said. You are have used this feature to much. It will not work till you park the car and take a break.
      I completely understand that one point is very debatable. Also it could be argued that it will make better driver by scolding them for poor driving. And sadly u forgot to mention. That would happen when I was in long deverted construction zones. Idk know the answer. My intention was to give honest review.

    Don’t beat yourself up over the wheel rash. The only Tesla without it is in the lot awaiting delivery. I have noticed that most cars with alloy wheels are torn up. Some are seriously damaged from repeatedly grinding against curbs.
    As far as regrets, our Tesla wasn’t bought for the FSD feature, and the phantom braking problem we experienced eliminated any trust with the CC. The phantom braking is enough to break the deal on any Tesla. Hopefully the NHSTA can force a fix since Tesla has no interest in this problem. I hope nobody gets killed because of it.

    I love my Model Y. Low-profile tires and rims have always been prone to curb rash. The standard rim/tire package (Gemini) does not have any issues with road rage. The problem is that Autopilot is too good. People started trusting it too much. Fair review. Tesla is the EV drivetrain on the market. The only level 3 system is Mercedes and it only works on a limited set of roads and only up to 40MPH.
    Tesla FSD is the state of the art and always improving. Tesla updates the software almost monthly, and it always makes the car better.

    • @EricMina
      @EricMina  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I 100% agree that the autopilot is almost too good. It's also way too safe. Because it's always jumping and stopping when it's going to make a turn. It acts like a 16 year old driving for the first time. Which is actually very dangerous for the people behind you who have no idea what the hell you're doing. That Phantom breaking is no joke I nearly got into a couple of accidents because of it. And it was people that were way too up my butt granted. Because Northeast people tend to drive really aggressively. So they're looking in front of you seeing that there's no danger at least for a good amount of distance. But the car is breaking. Don't get me wrong this is a catch 22 and I know that for a fact. The car is being as safe as possible but it is unnerving to the person that knows that it doesn't have to be.

    • @ericgregori
      @ericgregori 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@EricMina Is it breaking or slowing down? I ask because Tesa Autopilot reads the speed limit signs, and if it cannot see a sign for an amount of time, it references a speed limit database. Finally, if it cannot figure out the appropriate speed limit, it defaults to 45 MPH. I think this is a requirement in Europe (not sure about that) but you can disable this feature for Autopilot.
      If it is is phantom slowing down, and it always occurs at the same place, this may fix the issue. Obviously, this cannot be disabled with FSD. Unfortunately, this particular issue with FSD can only be fixed by the cities that maintain the speed limit database.

    The problem with Tesla is the inconsistency in the quality of the build. Even a friend of mine who was certified and works on EVs says that Tesla is one of the worse made EVs. Is the gas savings really worth the inconvenience of having to find a charger and waiting 45 minutes to charge? If you don't value time as money, no problem. The other issue is if something breaks on the Tesla that is out of warranty, it's going to be very expensive to repair because if you don't find a 3rd party mechanic that can repair the issue, you have to take it to Tesla and pay exorbitant cost of repair. How much more are you paying to insure that car than it's ICE equivalent? There far better options for EVs than Tesla's to chose from now. I will will stick with my RAV4, I can always find a gas station which takes 5 minutes to fill the tank; I can always find a third party mechanic to do any repair at decent cost; and my insurance premium is much less expensive than owning an EV.

    If you're on the fence whether to buy another Tesla, try renting an ICE for a couple days. I rented a BMW while in Vegas after buying my '23 model 3 and I'll never go back to ICE. Too many buttons! No side-view cameras that show everything next to me when I'm going to change lanes. And, the ICE starts moving as soon as I put it in Drive! I was like, "whoa whoa whoa! why are you moving?" Oh yeah... Sorry, ICE. Never again.

Since you have a growing family, I suggest you wait for the Model Y Juniper though, which will most likely be available in the US by 1st quarter 2025. It may seem like a long wait, but it will be more than worth it since it will have the newest 4C LFP batteries from CATL, which are reportedly substantially better than the 2170 or even the BYD blade batteries. That is because it will reportedly charge almost twice as fast as current batteries and can charge under extremely cold weather.

    Question is what would you buy instead that had the features you like ? imo It's a no brainer, FSD has been and is in BETA currently so you shouldn't have bought expecting a finished product. Buy another, 3 or Y there's nothing that beats it for its charging network away from home. And the assistance FSD BETA or Autopilot gives does make long drives more relaxing already. You're also in one of the safest cars available for your entire family, with among the best navigation and entertainment systems. While regenerative braking is good for saving your brakes, wouldn't it also drain the battery more? Because there's no coasting. Because to move forward you'd have to keep hitting the pedal. I'd also have to question the need for regenerative braking. In any car I've ever had, the most I've had to do is change the brake pads maybe once. In the car I have now, over 170k miles, and I haven't had any brake issues yet. My guess is the weight of the vehicle plays a big role here, like it does with the tires.

      @@vultureguy33 did you read the second part of what I said? 60-80% of the energy going into a gasoline motor comes out as waste energy (heat & sound mostly) while your engine is idling it is constantly wasting energy, and even when it is driving a large portion of the energy from the gasoline is wasted and not used to propel the car. Having driven one there is a way to get the car into a coast like state by slightly having the accelerator pushed in, the car will not apply more energy and the green regen bar does not come on, indictating no regen breaking is taking place.

    I personally don’t need one but it will be interesting what these cars will be built like in 20 years. Because tesla is so incompetent that they have almost no spare parts and even small damages take weeks to months to get done, and that it is insanely expensive to repair a tesla many times what a nomal car costs. It's a bit of a con in my book ,
    But then again so is paying extra for the long range pack with the bigger battery so your very expensively optioned up shiny new electric vehicle can almost have the range of a mediocre gas car as long as it's good weather 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂.
    You really couldn't make this stuff up.
    Even talking about the normal and sport mode in the steering as far as I'm aware , 😂, when you press the sport mode all it does in regard to the actual steering is adds a bit more power assistance to the steering, it doesn't do any fancy hydraulic valving or anything , it doesn't have dual ratio steering or anything.
    A lot of the features on these things is clever marketing.
    And regarding the phantom braking , I have experienced this too in a family members Tesla , rule one , do not trust cruise control or self drive systems, they are fallible .

    You are driving around in a vehicle completely dependent on technology! Simplicity is best unless one wants to hand over all control to others and technology. I like to consider myself as a green person; but, to manufacture an EV they require far more carbon to produce then an ICE vehicle. Second my electric to my home is produced by fossil fuels and thus no positive benefit to the world reducing carbon. The cost of any EV is far more then what one saves in maintaining and ICE vehicle. Latch onto that new battery after 100k and maintaining an EV is far more costly. Total self driving will never be a real thing; as every road is not uniform , nor can they made to be that way. Lastly I don't like the idea of mining for the materials in EV's period. Loving an EV means you are buying just the end without consideration of how the vehicle came to be.

I was going to suggest a nice Mercedes, but I don’t think that will work out for you either. You can blame NHTSA for all the constant warnings in the autonomous mode of the car. They made Tesla activate the inner camera in the car to nag you to death. Just yesterday they want Tesla to increase Font size of warnings on the screen. They are having Tesla fix this so called issue. NHTSA is up Musk’s butt for everything these day. They are very anti Tesla on its autopilot.

Watching Elon talk about how to constantly make his car better or technology better because of things just like this. Is why he's so innovative. You're only limited by what you have and what you can do. But it's the things that are annoying that help creativity. Somebody made a stool. And tried to lean back and decide hey I should put a backrest on there and created a chair. Without complaints or I want to have more. Innovations would never happen. Just my opinion
