I rarely post anything on TH-cam but your "quick tip" just got me home after my 370z wouldn't start and I was stranded in a parking lot in 35 degree cold. I eventually went with the 10A fuse pull method (like Eks Is describes below) after I got home, but that wasn't even an option for me until I jumped that pink (in my case red) wire to ground like you suggested. I just wanted to say thank you OwneManual; your post saved the day!

@@AlexGarcia-wl5cd You don't change it, you remove it. It's the one marked "Steering Lock" in the fuse block to the side of the battery. You'll need to remove some trim and lift the fuse block up to remove its cover that has two release clips on the bottom. Note that this is not the smaller fuse block that is located forward of the battery.
Thanks for the information, grounding the pink wire (after reading 12V there) worked perfectly to allow us to get the vehicle started and get home without a tow truck.
This exact thing left us stranded last week in 2010 G37 with 30k miles only. It's a crap part which Nissan Stealers charge £800 for in the UK + fitting.
If you strip the plastic cover as per this video , Tap the control box with a hammer lightly and wiggle the steering wheel , hopefully your's will disengage , like mine did, and let you start the car.
PS the key light appeared again 6 days later ( yesterday).
Today I pressed the start button , so accessory light illuminated (start Button) and pulled the 10 amp fuse for the steering lock, located under hood fuse box hidden behind the end of the battery in a vertical position. A bit of trim stripping near battery required !!! 4th fuse up from the bottom on the left hand side , clearly marked " steering Lock" on fuse box lid diagram. Google it

I followed this procedure to get a 2010 370Z started. Also, did additional step of removing the steering lock 10A fuse.
I was stuck at a gas pump in 6 degree weather upside down in the driver’s seat of my Z with a razor blade and a piece of speaker wire.
I owe you a steak dinner.
What year 370Z is this? Mine is a 2013 and I need to do this.

Hey, so I did this fix and git a new part. Also a new key fob slot cuz the dealership said I needed one. The new lock fixed the problem, so I didn't need the jump wire to ground anymore . But, do you know how to get rid of the key light on the dash?
Does this problem cause the orange intelligent key light to turn on and doesn't turn on my speedometer and my radio and prevents me from putting my car into drive?

This is a total pain in my arse! Lol 😂 I’m so mad right now have the same problem… got stranded at the gas station. Tried for 2 hours to restart it as my z had done this a few times but eventually started after locking and unlocking car opening door, waiting a while then it would start but not yesterday. Got my husband to come pick me up he jumped in and it started straight away lol! But the problem is getting worse! Bugger!
I think your problem is one of the switches actuated by the clutch. They become intermittent and then totally stop working. They are inexpensive and easy to change. There are two of the. Replace then both.
Is this just for sub 2012? I heard they took care of this in 2013, but my 2014 is doing this with the yellow key light. My fuse box doesn't have the 10A steering lock fuse at all
What we have to do with blue wire? pink and red clip together, or should each be earthed separately?

If your car won't start make sure battery has 13.7 voltage.. and check your key has good battery ok next you dont have to test the lock switch because thats how is made for to lock you up preventing a theft.. to make your car start easy you look for your key fob insert it will unlock your anti theft.. this only for those has a key fob insert relearner..
Do you connect that t tap to metal to ground it? Can I use a regular pin?
I have the same question. In the video does not seems to be conected to the metal. Just the t tap?

Went to look at one and the battery would turn over and the AC and radio would but the car wouldn’t turn over, what’s wrong with the car?
Exact thing just happen to me at 104,000ish miles!!!!!! I have a 2010 370z touring. Brakes locked steering wheel locked and push start button stayed on lock!!!!

Same here. Car stopped turning on at 104,000kms. Must be a common problem with these cars. Should be able to find one from wreckers. However, you need to make sure it’s the right part. Easy fix

I have an issue after replacing my battery. The OBD was hooked up to the power source to hold settings but when I had it replaced I had a few issues. The gauge cluster lights up minus the needles, the needles don't dance upon startup, the clock on the 3 gauges don't hold memory, the odometer resets on every startup and the brightness is dim on the cluster after every restart until I manually increase the brightness. I think its a fuse but unsure which one it could be, any help would be greatly appreciated.

My clutch is out although i have a new battery and try to run it everyday until I can get it fixed. I tried to start and nothing. All lights are working. I tried pushing in the switch behind the clutch and thats not working either. PLEASE SOMEONE HELP
my 370Z is a 2017 and only 48K miles
So will this work if my cars steering is not locked but it says locked? Right now i have the yellow key light and the car wont start but the steering is not locked and it will not go into acc mode. If I do this will it get it started?

Adrian Mcpherson Go under the steering wheel grab a push pin/ Earring. Stick the metal piece in the same hole the red/pink cable is at, grab something metal push the pin up with the metal tool and let the metal tool touch the metal part on the right next to the pink,blue,white,green wires, push the button and the car will be in ACC mode
