In the 80s I legit thought Alfonso was going to be “the next big thing” due to his amazing dance and singing skills. Then he faded away only to reappear in the 90s as nerdy Carlton Banks on Fresh Prince. Dude was fire in the 80s with his moves.
He was just very picky with his roles

I met him when he was Alfonso on Silver Spoons. He came to my school (Valley Presbyterian) for a play. I was in either 3rd or 4th grade and the year was either 1984 or 85.
And 6 years after Shirley Hemphill, was Shirley on What’s Happening!!
