"they could be making epic drum and bass tracks right now." our catalog of music speaks for itself as 4hero and numerous other pseudonyms, our Reinforced Records label paved the way for what people now call drum & bass and was instrumental in creating the blueprint for what you now listen to, know your history...end of.
I just want to let 4hero (if they're reading this) know that they're still today a very important part of my daily musical diet. I'm normally a serious metalhead, but when I need serenity and positive vibes, I always put 4hero in my player. Thanks guys,
I first heard this song while driving down Hawthorne Avenue, Los Angeles on KCRW in the summer of 1998 LA. I was an intern at Mattel and that summer was a musical and artistic renaissance for me! I have been a lifelong fan of 4hero ever since and have purchased every one of their albums (some multiple times).
Similar for me, I just found "planetaria" as a sample track in one of those late 90s magazines that would always bring a CD. In this case it was a magazine called Future Music, talking about electronic music, instruments and stuff, it always brought a track from the band interviewed + samples and sw and other goodies for electronic music fans. When I first heard the organic sounds of the bass and strings in "planetaria" I was totally amazed by these guys sounds and have been a fan ever since. :-)
God, I miss the 90's! musically The 80's to the early 2000's were about experimentation. Now it seems that most artists are just musically rehashing those times.
+guruuvy it's us getting old my friend, there's plenty of great stuff out there but we just keep coming back to safety. At least me, I remember getting exposed to new stuff from obscure bands every day and forcing myself into exploring, but I don't anymore, not that often. Funny thing is, kids today who are serious about music look at the 90s and 80s as a time of Titans, the same way I remember looking into the 60s and 70s :-)
I still spend a fair amount of money on new music every month, and I still make a point to go out dancing- especially if I go out of town! Last month in Chicago I went to this hole in the wall club where the Dj had clearly practiced for hours and there were live singers singing their original songs over his beats. When the song would end the singers would start improvising over whatever came next. I love a lot of the newer Dance, Hip-Hop and R&B artists like Kay Tranada, Syd Tha Kyd, Catz N Dogz, The Internet, and Tink. Many of their songs are referential to the 80's to the early 2000's. All of it amazing, to me but I only feel the element of surprise that I felt in that club in Chicago on two or three tracks per album.
I love the rolling back and forth, electronic musicians taking their music on the road with a full band, punk bands covering old electro/techno (The Dirtbombs). Music is about love...
musical background? grew up around sound systems and speaker boxes. music that's missing today doesnt exist, we did a lot with drum & bass before it had a name and continue to do so...make music for ourselves 1st and foremost, if others like what we do the love is appreciated. "Jazz is the Teacher" ...Mad Mike Banks.
It's simply quality tunes, played skilfully & with feeling. I love all music that I think is quality as does anyone else, & that's the problem not all people have the same likes & therefore opinions. I know I (a bit postmodern) like this & think its great, I want others to hear & appreciate it & wish you guys would play live again soon, would love to experience the unique sound of these tunes with a live band.
Love it when 4 Hero they are the entire black seventies underground music catalogue, and just let it rip with full on orchestrated grandiose psychedelia like this!!
It's simply quality tunes, played skilfully & with feeling. I love all music that I think is quality as does anyone else, & that's the problem not all people have the same likes & therefore opinions. But I know at least 1 thing, I like this & think its great, I want others to hear & appreciate it & wish you guys could play live again soon, would love to experience the un-duplicate-able (a made up word I believe)sound of a live band.
People, you are not just producers. You have been inspiring people for a lot of time. It's more interesting than you think to see the faces of those that create so complex rhythms and melodies while they are playing. Despite not being blonde, that is :) Ok, I leave it here, maybe it's my groupie spirit.
I heard you guys today, Take My Time on Pandora, and recoginzed the sound as different, wow very nice I will definately be sharing the wealth unique, smooth, and most importantly GOOD music!!
Just came across this, used to listen to 4 Hero when I was a pot head in my youthfull days. Must say i appreciate it alot more now. Anyone know if 4 Hero stills performs live? Yeah, top tune.
one of the most inspiring music albums -Two Pages - by one of the most inspiring producers and musicians. I miss this sound nowadays. What is the budget for this kind of event guys? It might just be worthwhile to spend it on this music for body and soul...
its just a shame the video and audio quality of 98 wasnt as good as the content created... ... but oooo gawd the strings...sublime....4hero where architects of a perfect music dream...
simply great, truly deep emotions!!! I'm really curious if marc mac and dego played keyboards/piano well from the beginning but preferred more electronic oriented sound, or if they learned it in the meantime. anyhow, love their entire catalog. great music
the tune we produced? ...Mr Kirk's Nightmare is available on more than enough old skool rave compilations or else eBay is your friend...not hard to find my any means.
was in the car with my 10 year old daughter and she asked me what this song was called. i nearly cried. the next time we were in the car she asked me to play it. i cried
@4herotv I think that in most cases, that's better, cause I think that too much theory, schooling and rules can kill creativity and relaxed approach. love from belgrade, serbia. peace
4Hero , any live versions on golden solitude , you could post? ...you certainly know a good vocalist ... make me laugh when people bow down at the feet of whitney/carey and the like..Carol beats them hands down.. i'd love if erica baduh(?) guested on one of your tracks
The terror laws that have been passed are very dubious indeed but I find it quite offensive that you make out that the laws are only used against those of ethnic origin. The laws have been used inapropriatly by local councils on different occasions for whites as well. I don't deny there is racism in our country but in the media it is most definatly not the case. Please don't misunderstand what I say and then call me a moron. I said the UK is the least racist country I'm aware of and by that I'm
taking into account the laws that are in place and so represent the UK as a country. Of course there is corruption. Bare in mind this is just what I've witnessed and I know fgor a fact it will be different to what you're aware of. For that reason it would be better to stick to the original point which was cencorship. I don't honestly think you can justify your statement that in the UK ethnic minorities are censored more than anywhere in the world.
This is a real music, jazz. if you want to pick up on genre - help yourself. But in my opinion (I'm kind of metalhead) it is just a waste of time. real instruments..people...crowd...sorry mate but your computer can not create this.
Still playing it 2024🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥😤
4Hero needs to make a comeback please.

This song has and will continue to stand the test of time. Still fresh today.
And still fresh in 2023.
They are still making and, producing great music!!!!
Jus wonderful music...oh to be 20 again
Such magic to this song and sound, even by today's standards. The 90s were such a fantastic time for this genre of music. A breath of fresh beats.

Thank you 4hero
What collaboration....
Most inspiring influence on my mental development as a drum and bass head.

bigup 4hero, were still lovin the sound here in London, long time since the Cookin Up Ya Brain days, still sounding strong and true, keep it up.
This is one of my favorite groups. You should go on a USA tour.
This one blew me away, love the way it mixes the strings, dance beats, soulful vocals and spirit filled message :)
4Hero needs to come stateside. This is sick with the whole ensemble. Luke Parkhouse on the drums is the man.
this gives me chill. Thanks
Omg! What beauty!
I love this song!
@osamabinbollox we dont havent done a live show since 98...big budgets required, dj gigs here and there these days in between studio work.

Dig through the crates, you'll find plenty of d'n'b produced by these guys. They've been there and done plenty of that.

Her vocal is totally out of tune, not this pitch of voice....
