So the science behind this is you need sugar to create the crystallization. That sugar free stuff is just for like pouring over slushie ice (blended ice. I checked the science on this this year when I was going to buy one as a diabetic who misses slushies but apparently with no sugar you wont get that ice crystals then can be shaved your just creating pure ice blocks on the think which is why it wont scrape it. You might wanna review this with the correct product as in soda and sugary drinks. If I remember right even on the amazon ad it says will not work with sugar free drinks. It will not work with Diet or Zero drinks This is from the FAQ On there page: Is there a sugar-free/diet ICEE? At this time, sugar-free is not available. Sugar actually plays two important roles in the production of ICEE. First, it helps make ICEE taste great. Second, it acts as a freezing agent. Without the exact amount of sugar, ICEE would freeze up, and it would not properly dispense from the machine into your cup. Research is being conducted to make a sugar-free ICEE, but no sugar substitutes with the same freezing properties as real sugar have been found yet.
Hm very interesting. After watching a bunch of other reviews and talking to a few others who have bought it they all seemed to run into the same issue even with using Sugar / icee branded syrup. I mainly avoided the icee branded stuff because everyone says it tastes horrible.
@@UnboxAnalysisOfficialyeah I'm not sure about what the other people did but the machine will never work unless there is sugar You have to have sugar and you have to have the right amount of it. And it doesn't have to be their flavored stuff It just has to be stuffed with sugar so it could be regular soda It could be anything that has sugar in it
@@UnboxAnalysisOfficialthe problem with those devices is that they don’t get cold enough. Industrial devices have a compressor cooler that can cool a lot all day, but the ice salt mix only gets as cool as the ice is. You could probably improve/speed up the process by blending some syrup and ice cubes and then put that in the machine.
I think going to a 7-11 for a SLURPEE or Burger King for a ICEE would be easier or some other gas station/fast food for a SLUSHY would be far easier and simple! lol
You cannot use sugar free drinks. You do not have to take the plastic segments off the canister. You must not go above the max fill line or there's no room for the peaks of icee to rise to. It's like you just opened the box and tried to figure out how to use the machine on camera, lol. You gotta follow the instructions. I've used soda, syrup and orange juice and each time it came out perfectly. 😁

I have a bravetti version, and it works well, occasionally it freezes up and doesn't work well, but I find it's normally when I don't have enough salt or I don't have the mix at room temp
Hey, have you purchased a Ninja Creami? I got one over a year ago and it's the best purchase I have made. I get syrup from Restruant Depot a huge jug for $15.
@@UnboxAnalysisOfficial Awesome! It's really the best purchase I have made in a while. You can even just put a can of fruit and freeze that with nothing else done to it and it's good!
We bought 1 about a month ago second hand and are just now beginning to use it. After watching your video and reading the comments, I'm hoping we are more successful with it, but yet I'm a bit skeptical about it! Wish us luck!!!
ill just use my flavoring and a blender (magic bullet big/small one) to make mine in seconds and its just like if you get one from the store or gas station
That thing sounds way under-powered! We need a supercharged model! I'm curious, though... would it work better with the sugar filled version of the mix? The sugar might be what prevents it from freezing to the canister like that.
You were supposed to keep the syrup mixture in fridge overnight and also freeze the canister for at least 1 hour before starting the process..I believe that is a large part of the reason this went so badly
The canister itself is very thin metal, and even if you leave it in the freezer for hours, it warms to room temp in about 6 minutes. The syrup was cooled in the fridge following the instructions as well after i mixed it with water
Just get a ninja creami and make a slush that way you won’t be disappointed. It works every time it just doesn’t have a little spout like that machine does…. Or wait for the ninja slushy machine.
Bro I think the problem might be just you because in the front of the mixer it's tells u to stop at the line n the mixer has to different modes on the mixing the 1st line on the mixer has one line for meaning this 1st n go to 2nd mode so you r the problem is not the icee munchie it is u bro
Well the first time i tried I said it was my fault ^^, but i tried again 4 more times full through with no luck, and if you read the reviews on Amazon there are hundreds with the same experience. However, some people have pointed out that there may have been an issue with me using sugar free syrup. That i did no test again.
Goodness, zero calories and agreed, I prefer zero sugar drinks since early to mid forties and only sweetener in coffee/tea for a lot longer. Good old salt, a myriad of uses. Yes, used to have slush puppies machine in our local shop over here, then suddenly they seemed to vanish everywhere (talking about 30/40 years back in my early teens - they may have started coming back, not seen any though.) Really loved slush pups and yes, blue raspberry was my to go to. As for using a machine at home? no, a lot of hassle to be honest and I wouldn't trust them. Simpler just to crush ice in a blender or fill your glass to the brim with ice cubes the old way, then add your fav beverage. Have a safe and nice weekend.
The salt doesnt go "in" the mix, same as making ice cream and such, it goes in the cooling chamber mixed with the ice and water to increase the cooling effect/area of the cooling effect.
@@UnboxAnalysisOfficial Thank lord then lol Ice cream I've never bothered making, and at my age now? I just buy as I suffer severe pain and can no longer do many things.. Thank anyway for the share and short reply.
"Disaster." 😆😆I recall one of my own. My girlfriend and I got an Icee at Kmart back in the day when Kmart was a thing. As a short-lived promotion of some sort, the cups came with a peel-off label on the bottom of the paper cup. Depending on what was imprinted on said label, you could win some ersatz surprise redeemable at that kmart. My label was attached to cup bottom with some sort of atomic super glue--try as I might, I couldn't dislodge it. Finally got a small edge to cooperate, pulled it off and removed not only the label but the cup bottom--Icee slippery slop all over the lap of my brand new, expensive, impossssssssssssssssssssibly WHITE, white skinny jeans. Was that ever cold🤣🤣
@@UnboxAnalysisOfficial Annoyance may be a little too anemic--especially when my mom's final command as I was leaving the house that night was " and don't get those new white jeans dirty!" Guuuuuulp! 🤣🤣
So I actually bought 3 of these (my son is autistic and loves Icee. He goes nuts watching it mix). Anyway this MF is loud AF and you have to follow the instructions to the letter. I use soda instead of the mix (I bought the $30 mix on Amazon and it’s trash). It’s fun as a novelty but…just go to 7/11 or another store 😂😂😂😂😂😂
