I'm a young minister, my question is what should I do because people say I preach too long but its a 30 minute sermon and if I finish to fast they complain that I preach too short or too long? and If I close early they gonna say I rush to my close. any tips?
1. Don’t be a people pleaser preach what God gave let him. Move and sit down.
2. 25- 30 min is perfect timing.
3. Discern what God wants to do and what the people can take Jesus spoke in parables to people who couldn’t understand and spoke straight forward with his disciples.
You have the mic give to the folks what God gave you
Always honor the house. If the pastor said 15 mins, then you’d be out of order to go 30. But if the pastor said 30 mins, then you’re in order. At the end of the day, it’s not about what the people feel like you SHOULD do. You have to be true to yourself while obeying the instructions God gave you. You may not want to preach beyond 30 mins. Then don’t. Lastly, whatever that time frame is, it’s a limit, not an expectation. So if you are given 30 mins, but you finish in 20 and still be impactful, then you’ll be honoring your instructions, God will be pleased, and if all was well with your sermon, you’ll have a higher probability of being invited back!
