    Hiya, so I did my driving test today. I did my first driving lesson at 17, nearly 8 years ago. My problems are nerves, over thinking and roundabouts. I've watched all of your videos of Salisbury roundabouts and found them really helpful. I passed by the way! So thank you for all your time and hard work making these videos! ☺️

      What a fantastic piece of news, thank you so much for sharing. Well done for your perseverance! Test nerves, in any context, can be so debilitating. Have faith in your own abilities now, the DVSA Examiner clearly did. Drive Safe, Always!

    Wonderfully helpful. I find roundabouts confusing and am often unsure what lane to take. Thanks for taking the time to do this.

      @@Kholaslittlespot1 tyy! the roundabouts are honestly terrible omg like it took me a while to figure them out. i actually copied the drawings of them from these videos so they’re in higher quality and drew a line for every exit i could take from each approach and set markers so i knew where i was approaching from. it honestly helped a lot knowing where i’m approaching from because as you probably know the lanes can be so confusing!! but don’t worry you will pass as long as you are confident and have done enough hours 🫶🏽

    6.17 mins in, you change from inside lane to outside lane, you check you left mirror and rear view mirror. Do you indicate left aswell?

    • @drivingvideos4238

      That’s a very good question. The DVSA’s guidance on signalling on Spiral Roundabouts (P.225 of Driving - The Essential Skills) is: ‘If you need to change lanes, make sure you check it’s safe before you do so and signal if necessary.
      My personal interpretation of this guiding principle, in this context, would be that with Estcourt Road exit coming so soon after the lane change, a left hand signal for the lane change could be considered mistimed as drivers waiting to join from Estcourt Road could think you intend to turn into Estcourt Road (and thus possibly pull out in front of you).
      If, when I checked my mirrors, I had any concerns that a vehicle in close proximity to me on the roundabout could potentially also move into that small outside lane I would have remained in the lane I was in, exiting into lane 2, and then returned to the left lane as soon as it was safe to do so after exiting the roundabout.
      The broad guide principle being: was it necessary, and could the timing of the signal have confused others - all of which is dependent on the prevailing traffic conditions.
      That would be my personal interpretation of the guiding principles in this context - hope that helps!

      The second option I describe, Exiting into Lane 2 can also be seen on this video, from time code 7 minutes.

      @@drivingvideos4238 does indicating when exiting in the fast lane confuse other drivers in the left lane?

    • @drivingvideos4238
      @drivingvideos4238  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@justabritracing4507 Have a look at the roundabout diagram at the start, pause the video, and extend/continue the lane lines from the roundabout to that exit centre line marking. You will see that ‘Lane 2’ exit is a continuation of the lane you are already in. Relate that to the DVSA guidance on signalling detailed above.
