These videos are brilliant - I have watched a few now and they have helped me understand complicated roundabouts a lot better! I think I have become a more confident driver in only a week after watching these type of videos.
I’m 2 weeks away from my test in Halifax so this is a god send. Loads of people go round this roundabout wrong one issue being all the road markings are worn away.
I pass through this very roundabout every day on my way to and from work (I live in Halifax and work in Leeds). The biggest problem are the numpties that jump the red lights. Some of my dashcam videos feature such numpties at this roundabout. The other big problem are those who cut you up almost causing a collision. Another incident I caught on the dashcam at this roundabout was when a learner driver stalled in front of me. A BMW behind me was not as patient as I was and overtook us both.
Parknest You should come down to Exeter and witness the joy that is the bargy van driver. Honestly, most of the van drivers I’ve met on the road behave like they’re invincible, and I’ve known some to mount the kerb just because I’m rightfully being cautious at a T junction or entrance into a right side road with oncoming traffic moving past. And as someone who’s fairly new to driving it doesn’t half knock my confidence feeling like I’ve done something wrong when I haven’t.
Thanks! I've been an R driver in NI for a few months now and these were awful to deal with at first, the one I'd encounter often was the roundabout on the M1 right next to Moira, which is a lot smaller but a much more complex example like the one you showed really cleared everything up!
imagine coming there in heavy traffic and being unfamiliar with the area. you can barely read the letters on the street in time when there are cars standing on it, also they are so worn off that you can't read them anyways. so you basically have no Idea which lane to use and where to exit. also in heavy rain or snow you can't read the markings on the street at all. these monstosities are by no means intuitive and are a pain in the ass everytime I have to use one on vacation. basically you get in , try not to die, get out SOMEWHERE and hope its the right direction.
Most roundabouts dont even have clear lane markings so you have to wing it I have my test in 10 minutes and I'm sat watching how to turn round a roundabout because they piss me off xD
Yep, I used to use this very roundabout when I was learning to drive. It is just on the edge of the town center, so is always so busy. I used to find it a total nightmare when I was learning, especially in rush hour on a rainy winters evening, I can still feel some of that nervousness just watching haha.
I can't even read board sign so small writing and just for confusion as first green board exits different than second one that white board signs. Road signs not clear. They need to remove all roundabouts and just put traffic lights so we can see all around clearly
These videos are great 👍🏾 😊 I had a question. You said that before you enter the roundabout, position yourself in the lane that matches your exit number, so second lane for second exit. What would you do if there are for example 3 lanes, but more than 3 exits? I’m assuming that you position yourself in lane 3 for exit 3 and any exits after, but not Sure
So,can I change lane in the roundabout or not? Because in some video says never change,if you are missed the lane go round, but you did end of the video.I am a bit confused now. But I think should not be a problem to change...
I don't know why this popped up for me to watch. It is not a roundabout it is a series of traffic light controlled junctions. Also the reason for 2 lanes approaching, going around and exiting these junctions or roundabouts is to increase their capacity and increase traffic flow through them. The reason the traffic was backed up in the last clip was because the 2 lanes not being used correctly. If they didn't want 2 lanes using they wouldn't have spent a small fortune in putting them there.
The problem is that drivers frequently don't read the lane markings let alone the road signs. Especially if its been altered or modified. The local drivers still have a map in their head, an proceeded to use the roundabout as they always did. Then they wonder why there heading in the wrong direction or cutting up another driver as they try to get back into the lane they need. They shouldn't be on the rd!
Thanks for attempting to explain this. It doesn't change the fact that British multilane roundabouts are a mess. The reason why "people don't get it" is simple, because it’s completely counterintuitive. Just learn from Poles, they know how to do a multilane roundabout: th-cam.com/video/d9MBHz_dQaA/w-d-xo.html. Everything about a British multilane roundabout is just wrong - horrific markings, lanes cutting into each other, limited information signs when approaching. An engineering mishap that you've learned to live with.
I'm not a fan of roundabouts. Passing through a town of cyclists and pedestrians crossing the road is less stressful than some of these horrible roundabouts
Typical Driving instructor . Why not show this vid to the pupils a few days before taking them around it ? Print off a parer map, hand them a few felt tip pens & ask them to draw these routes on paper. With a correct copy in the file . ( Routes in opposing colours to show intended direction & lane ) I drive that roundabout often, It's chaos everyone gets into the wrong lane . Luckily i'm a very good driver and ready & watching all mirrors & in a lower gear ready to SCOOT ahead or Hit the Brake hard. & in a vehicle that will GO !!! or stop. Instant power is often safer than brakes in certain occasions. ( Not in Icy Wet / Slippery conditions ) . Know your Vehicle, it should fit like a glove. A SET Of New " TOP BRAND " name Tyres are usually FAR CHEAPER than your insurance Excess fee ! I can say the same for Original Makers Brand Discs & Pads !! ( Brakes ) .
Life saving video! This roundabout is really tricky for me.
Same 😂
These videos are brilliant - I have watched a few now and they have helped me understand complicated roundabouts a lot better! I think I have become a more confident driver in only a week after watching these type of videos.
No other vide comes even close. This is the most practical video I have ever watched. 90% of the road users must be getting it wrong.
I’m 2 weeks away from my test in Halifax so this is a god send. Loads of people go round this roundabout wrong one issue being all the road markings are worn away.
The best video on roundabouts I have found!!! Thank you!

That shits still not easy
Road markings are worn down. That makes it very confusing.
Yes 7 years on from this video it’s just a sea of tarmac with the odd faint cross here and there😂
This is the best video ever about roundabouts

Yup, agree 100%. There should be a big sign when approaching every British multilane roundabout saying 'Try not to die'.
Most roundabouts dont even have clear lane markings so you have to wing it I have my test in 10 minutes and I'm sat watching how to turn round a roundabout because they piss me off xD
@@ms2k7Gaming how did u do?

SO glad they've got round to repainting this monster!
Multi lane roundabout from hell
Roundabouts should be banned.
@Perry Rose No they aren't.
Darrin Funk then stay the hell out of England

"We're not going towards Burnley."
I don't blame ya mate!
haha
This is exactly what I need. Just bought a new car but still afraid to move it. Experienced road users are too wicked.
You have explained it really well pal its very helpful, I would like to say thanks to you.
You are very welcome
Thanks for the really clear explanation.
Glad it was helpful!
Good lord, driving a roundabout from the passenger seat while on the wrong side of the road. I should stay in the states. :-)
Do you signal as on other roundabouts when on traffic light controlled roundabouts? Asking because I don’t know what to do on my test.
Thanks alot man. Helped me understand these weird roundabouts
I can't even read board sign so small writing and just for confusion as first green board exits different than second one that white board signs. Road signs not clear. They need to remove all roundabouts and just put traffic lights so we can see all around clearly

Great video, thanks!
Helped a lot man thank's
Hi there
I like all your videos. It gives me good confidence. Is it possible for you to make a video on “ When to use bus lane “ please.
Many thanks
Juliet bus lanes have times so dont use them between those times
If it has no time its in use 24/7 so dont use them
Very useful video clear explanation,, thankful
loved this video helped so much
I like Orange Street
Fantastic video, but them round abouts are a nightmare!
thank you so much sir for this detailed video !!
Super video 👍👍👍
Good video keep it up
What if you want to go back right round to where you are coming from? I mean like a U
Shola Sola you'd stay in the right lane till the road split for you to get off at your exit
Pamela Millican Thanks, Pam...
No wonder it’s confusing, the steering wheel in the car is on the wrong side.
No it isn't
Good video
Hello, how much charge per class please ?

First lane is pop
But there's traffic lights on this roundabout. NBD.
Fucking round abouts are like mini Boss;s

Fully agree. It’s a big confusing mess!
isnt it pronounced keyley?
Go to Burnley or Town Centre Not Keighley
Multi lane round abouts suck especially when half of them dont even have lane markings
Who the fuck follows a sign saying LEEDS?

Sorry I'm saying this, but English roundabouts are really bad and really dangerous, Dutch and German are so much better.
